*nods* I know exactly what you mean. Acknowledging female gamers does not mean pink it up and sparkle it with glitter  .  Our reasonable complaints are also not a demand for games to concentrate solely on women either, it's really asking to level the playing field a bit more. I love gears of war for example; it’s great for the mindless-beefy-grunty-fun time I have playing a  huge goon with a chainsaw gun. I would never want them to change the tone of the game, just to maybe give me an option of playing a female solider, that's it. So fingers crossed for the third instalment.

Also "female-focused" games aren't crap because the typical female gamer's idea of a good game is crap. They suck because of the recycled gender stereotypes that are used to create them. You'll also find that those types of games are marketed to young girls. I worked in in one are two game stores during college and you get parents asking you what would be a good game for their girls.  So I ignore the gender and would point them towards titles that got good reviews and ones that I thought were awesome. Sometimes they would ignore what I said and reach for something pink and say "This is for girls isn't it?”  I'm surprised I never face-palmed in front of them.
 
I grew up during the retro era (snes, Genesis, n64 etc) so I never encountered this rubbish. Back in the day, there wasn't any third party developers cranking out poorly developed Barbie games so I was able to form my opinion of games on their quality and not whether or not it was a "girls game".

eta: Drunken, s'ok.  Said person is just looking for something to do.  I recommend drawing Ash's hairdo on little kittens and completely unrelated characters.  When we're bored, we pick a target and draw Garrus's face markings and scanner on it.  INSTANT FUN
