I'm not basing this on assumption, I suppose you could say it's an educated guess, both games literally scream at you not to save the base. There are two reasons, Sovereigns entire speech when  you first meet him and the "heretics." The heretics took the reapers tecnology and became intolerant of everyhting, including their own species. I'd say that they were indoctrinated but we don't know if they were or if geth can even be indoctrinated.

Actually, the very argument you use to support your reasoning is an assumption -- we don't know whether the geth became 'intolerant of everything' as result of taking the Reaper technology, or if they were simply intolerant to begin due to "different math" of theirs, and the decision to take the Reaper technology was just a product of that different mindset.

There's also an obvious counterpoint of the Citadel also being nothing but the Reaper-made base and one built as both bait and a trap to boot. Yet various species have been utilizing it for thousands of years by now without the kind of effect the Prothean base is supposed to have purely because it's Reaper-made...

And finally (to tie it to the thread subject) Garrus supports keeping the base. Are you implying he could be wrong? Posted Image

You know, as a Scotsman, I gotta say that I thought Ken's accent was kinda on the weak side.

Dear gawd.  I suddenly see Garrus flexing and welcoming us to the gun show.  /facepalm

Garrus: Hey Shepard, hope you got your tickets to the 'gun show'! ::flexes his arms::
Shepard: ::doesn't notice the flexing:: I sure did! I can't wait. Omega may be a nasty place, but their annual personal assault weapons exhibition is the best place for sniper rifles in the Terminus Systems!
Garrus: What? No! I was talking about...- ::hears 'sniper rifles', drops his arms:: ... Ooo, can I come too?

They can't go naked on Palaven, didn't they develop the thick skin to protect them from horrible radiation there?

Not that I don't want to see Garrus' well calibrated guns, I'm just sayin'.

Turian pajamas? Not around that crazy femShep. She has no patience for things like that. She'd just rip them off anyway....

Let's see.  If you don't go renegade, then Garrus always seems grateful that you've pointed him toward the more paragon path.  He always seems somehow sadder/worse off if you point him toward the renegade path.  Going renegade on Omega was clearly bad for him; look what happened.  Could he be wrong?  Seriously, you should be asking "Hm, could Garrus possibly have even 1% chance of being right for once?"  The guy has horrible judgment.

This is assuming turians wear underwear at all.  And now I hate myself for giving me that mental image.

Given that one of the main reasons they wear so much clothing is probably that they're too cold without it, chances are he'd only snuggle that lightly clothed under blankets--or on Palaven, but then Shepard would probably be too darn hot to do much snuggling... or other things, for that matter.  Somehow I suspect it wouldn't hinder Garrus, on the other hand, and poor Shepard would be worrying whether her stinky sweat would be a turnoff.

I don't think Garrus/turians are that adversely affected by temperature.  The only comment we have regarding turians and the weather is on Noveria (and even then it's just a thrown out "Did I ever tell you that turians don't like the cold?" comment that I think was meant more for gags); there are turians even working on Noveria.

He might be used to warmer conditions, but we have no reason to believe, based upon in-game information, that they are anything but comfortable in standard room temperature.  Also, if you take into account Garrus's "And I thought Palaven was hot!" comment, if he thought Palaven temp. = normal then why would he describe it as hot?  Wouldn't he say something more along the lines of "Ahhh, feels just like home!".

People on Earth who live in arid conditions still suffer in the heat.  Perhaps turians are the same.

Was I the only one more worried about my space hamster and fish after the Collectors came on board Normandy?

Shep: If they killed my hamster and fish they're totally gonna pay. I'll kill those mothers.
Garrus: They took the crew too.
Shep: Huh? Oh yeah. And if they hurt what's her face and what's his name I'll give them a good tongue lashing.
Garrus: Hey! I thought you said I was the only one.
Shep: No, I meant...whatever. I'll hurt them.

Look at turians as they appear from ME1 to ME2 - they seem to be less gangly in their arms and legs, generally more muscular/fleshed out.  I think this might have just the smallest bit to do with the fact that Garrus is now a LI, and they wanted to make the species slightly more visually appealing.  Hell, they altered quarians (re: severity of being exposed to foreign germs) to better suit Tali being a LI in ME2.

Really?  They look exactly the same to me. Garrus looks larger than he did in ME1, but that's just because he wears heavy armor now. In his casual clothes his model is the same as every other turian's.

Well, he winds up on Omega no matter what route you go so this whole gratefulness thing doesn't really seem to amount to much. I also don't think he was wrong about doing what he did on Omega -- you don't get three criminal organizations to cooperate despite their hate for one another just to take you down for doing something that's just 'bad for yourself'. He eventually got overwhelmed by these combined enemies but i just can't see how this is supposed to show he's been wrong about what he was trying to achieve there, to begin with.

I mean, going with the same logic we could say "Oh Shepard was obviously wrong trying to fight the reapers in ME1, because look what happened in the end -- she got her ship blown up and died herself".

What he was doing may have been right--trying to bring law to a lawless place.  However, he went about it the wrong way and nearly got himself killed as a result.  It kind of makes me wonder if, going up against those kinds of odds knowingly, Garrus wasn't intending to get killed.  He was altogether too eager to join a suicide mission as well.   And yes, I'm aware that he does go to Omega no matter how you influence him in ME1.  I'm not saying he's stupid or anything.  He's an idealist, but like everyone tells you about him in ME1, he's hot-headed.  He also has some seriously horrible luck.

My personal choice was to blow up the base.  Garrus had a valid point and so did TIM--that if you kept the base, the lost lives would have meant something, and that the tech could be used to benefit people.  But I chose to blow up the base because I knew Cerberus wouldn't want to share the knowledge to help anyone but humanity.  I didn't want to see the technology turned against the turians, for instance.  In a way I blew it up for Garrus's sake.  And hey, later, he and Shepard can talk about what a great date that was.  Garrus likes blowing stuff up.  I think so does Shepard.

Turian PJs? The ONESIE OF DOOOOOOM! (Someone draw this? Because I fail at art XD)

But on a slight tangent... why is wanting to see some skin such a bad thing? I'm all for the deep/cute/awkward/personality... stuff. But... come on. They made a sort of dragonlike race. Show me... something under that armor. -.-

I don't have a picture comparison, but in ME2 the turians all struck me as being less gangly (I wish I had a better description for it).  I remember their limbs being much skinnier looking, but I could be completely mistaken.  Just my personal observation which I can back up with no proof whatsoever.  Posted Image

Hm. I feel uncomfortable laughing at that. I mean...I never let my male Shepards pull the Chris Brown on Ms. Jilani, no matter how annoying she is. Seeing Garrus do it should be disturbing.

..screw it. That picture's hilarious. KEEP 'EM COMING, BRUTHA. (Why do I call everyone bro or brutha regardless of gender...?)

How do you figure it was the 'wrong way to go about it' actually? If it's just because it nearly got him killed then like pointed out, Shepard's own ways to fight the Reaper threat also get her killed and not "nearly" but so well it then took few billions and a renegage organization to bring her back. Does it mean Shepard was fighting the Reapers wrong way, too? Posted Image

I don't think it's so much hate as people just joking around. I don't like the idea of equating her apparent promiscuity (however blown out of preportion) with some feminist, 'women can be presidents too' attitude. It's not because she's a woman, it's just because she's a flirt.

That said, I don't hate Kelly at all. I just see it as more of a running gag, and it's funny.

I'm a personist - and I call it like I see it.

A lot of what I see among fans - I don't mean this thread specifically, this is a pretty smart and fun group - is definitely bashing of the Kelly character based on her perceived promiscuity. For example, she's typified as a 'skank', while Jacob is just a 'dawg /sly-grin'. (Nevermind my own opinion of Jacob as an LI!  I do like him as a character, though, I just wish BW didn't make him so cheese-filled as an LI.)

I can't imagine Garrus kicking puppies, by the way. He's got Harkin for that.

Shepard assembles a crew of the best people possible.  She isn't going to fight crime with crime.  If she succeeds, she saves the entire galaxy.  Garrus assembles a team of whoever he can get, then starts actively ticking off mercenaries in a place that is already lawless--practically everyone on Omega is a criminal.  Vigilantism is a crime in itself, so really he's just one of them, only now he's got all of the other criminals after him.

So yes, I'd say there's probably some better way he could have gone about it.  I'm not saying I know how, of course, but it stands to reason that the proper way to fight crime is not with more crime.

I was thinking of romancing Jacob until I saw how cheesy he was. Argh, I don't like the last scene when he goes into Shepard's cabin. He sounds like some kind of perv.

True dat. I was meticulous(sp?) about feeding the fish. My boyfriend/walking husband(I'll call him hubby) made fun of me for that. I love animals, even the virtual ones.
