I have no idea on his status, but that is an interesting point. When I brought him to Omega, it kind of annoyed me that no one saw he was Archangel. But that makes sense, because no one knew who he was and apparently the only thing people knew about him was that he was a turian.

But no one recognizes him. Even Anderson is ignoring him completely. That's probably BW being lazy, but it still annoys me. Same thing with Wrex/Liara not acknowledging Garrus is standing right behind me when I'm talking to them, even though they served on the Normandy together.

After the destruction of the Normandy, he went back to Spectre training/got a job offer from C-Sec, but he chose to go to Omega to point his gun and shoot. I wonder what he said when he resigned and took off, and if Spectre training/C-Sec has any clue if he's alive, dead, or just off the radar.

I can imagine the Citadel changing after the attack by Sovereign and new people coming there, but I thought he might run into someone he knew from the old days. But nooooooo. Right now it looks like Garrus Vakarian is dead and only Shepard and Tali know he's still there. And TIM of course, because I don't believe a thing about him saying he had no clue where Garrus was.

!!! Image IPB That is adorable beyond words. And I just had the random thought of fanatical humans painting their faces up to look like turians. The turians would NOT be pleased.

Also from the wiki, just because:

-Formal citizenship is conferred at the third tier, after boot camp. (Flammie's a citizen, on top of everything else!)
-Every citizen from age 15 to 30 serves the state in some capacity, as anything from a soldier to an administrator, from a construction engineer to a sanitation worker. (So, I was wrong, it's not just military service. I don't know whether Garrus still falls in this or is yet still a "bad turian", but I agree, he seems younger than Shepard and thus under 30.)
- Most serve until the age of 30. (But it doesn't say they have to; and C-Sec counts as service. We do know Garrus didn't get in much or any trouble from leaving C-Sec the first time; he was even offered his job back.)

Makes you wonder which of the 27 tiers of citizenship Garrus is on. We'll prolly never know. Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB

I can't see a majority of turians serving 15 years in the military, then having no other skills (and back to my earlier social yadda-yadda, a society needs a surplus of food before they can even think of starting an economy or an army--I think the pragmatic turians would recognize that). I know they kind of have a caste system, but it's not strict enough that they wouldn't need job skills. I can't see Garrus and his authority problems sticking in there for 15 years, and I can't see his strict father letting him go tool around with another job until 30 or near 30.

C-Sec is a prestigious job; it's possible that if it isn't counted as exactly serving the state, it's important enough to get a wave. Similarly, being drafted by a Spectre in the name of restoring honor to the turians and taking down a rogue (I have a feeling Garrus might have used that excuse to his superiors, if he'd told them SUCK IT on his last day I doubt they'd welcome him back) is also important enough to circumvent the usual traditions.

So yeah, I agree with Soltana. 26-28 in ME1, 28-30 in ME2. Shep's age or just slightly younger.

Dev comment, under 30. We ought to put this in the OP or something.

I'm pretty sure C-Sec it totally seperate from the Turian Military. That was what got me thinking.Either Garrus was already in his 30s when he met Shepard, or you can leave the military and have serving on the Citadel count as civic service before you turn 30. The fact that he was the investiagtor in charge of looking into Saren's activities implies that Garrus has a fair bit of C-Sec experience under his belt (he operated in the wards as well, which is not where they assign rookies, according to the codex.) I guess it was mostly the age thing which got me going again. Taking 30 as the age of leaving military service for turians, bumps him into a much higher age bracket than the 'young hot-head' thing would have placed him, which was what got me thinking about the relationship between the turian military and the council/citadel, and ultimatly where Garrus fits in with all that...

I imagine the Turian Hierarchy makes military service compulsory in some manner. I know in South Korea, all men must serve in the military for almost two years. In Switzerland, all men are considered part of their military. Turians could require military service anywhere in between that spectrum.

Since the codex mentions Turians start their service to the state at 15, Garrus could have been in the military as young as 15, served his two years, then got out. Though I bet Garrus stayed in at least five years, but that makes him just 20 when he joins C-Sec.

I've wondered about why Garrus was given the task of investigating Saren. I came up with four scenarios.
1. It was randomly assigned.
B. He volunteered.
iii. He's been in C-Sec long enough to be considered a veteran investigator capable of the big assignments.
4. He's considered a C-Sec rookie/hothead who someone thought would purposely screw up the investigation into one of the most reknowned Turian Spectres.

I lean toward scenario four, which is why I think Garrus is younger than Shepard in ME1.

Sorry - didn't mean to reopen the age debate. I was more focused on the implications of Garrus dropping off grid before he was 30, since that is a sort of abandonment of civic duty. I'm sure the first time he went off with Shep it counted as service, but the years on Omega and this new mission probably don't. Even beyond the usual public service of turians, might his apparent 'siding' with Cerberus be treated as dishonerable by turian society at large, even though it is for a greater good (they don't believe in the Reapers, etc.)

But I don't think that this'll ever get explained. Just thought it would be interesting to see.

And I think we should see more Turian affection in the game. They are the only primary race I haven't seen any evidence of sentiment or affection from (Batarians aside. But Baterians haven't had nearly as much exposure yet.)

This indeed. I keep voting for Kaidan, since he's the only biotic (next to Miranda) who gets a lot of votes. Besides, I think Kaidan is a stronger biotic than Miranda. Stronger biotic = more food. Well, that's my reasoning for it :P.

Which biotic should we be offing for solidarity? I vote third-party in real life, BUT I WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE HERE.

Edit: Well, there's some direction.

Edit #2: NGH.  I voted Kaidan, but it looks like I should have gone with Miranda.  Imagine how much she must eat to maintain that ass too. :C

What I want to know is why voting Garrus off all of a sudden.

A few days ago everyone stormed on Miranda and Kaidan. Kaidan because he is boring as many say.

Just so it's on the front page. Garrus and Miranda are neck in neck. WTH??? Everyone turned on Garrus all of a sudden. I may be a fanatical Garrus-ite, but even if I weren't, in the spirit of the game it makes no sense to kill him (or Legion). I voted Miranda. I don't hate her at all, I just think it makes sense. But then, so does voting Thane, which very few people are doing.

Pretty sure it's just the Liara-ites trying to get rid of Garrus before it's down to the two of them, given his popularity. Divide and conquer, and all that. I've not once voted Liara down. :(

Alright, alright, no need to get in a tizzy folks. All we can do is vote according to how the game is played despite immature little fanboys jealous of Garrus' manliness. I voted for Miri because 1.) Biotics eat muchly and 2.) Her pudding butt could feed the whole dang crew for a month!

....Ew.
