*Gasp!* This is how the romance scene should've happened in the game! When the scene faded to black in the game, and the music was cut off, I was like, "What?" I think I was more bothered by the music being cut so suddenly because it brought the scene to a close very suddenly as well. =(

I just replayed my romance scene with Garrus and I could swear I saw dead fish floating in my fish tank.
I shoulda sent Grunt in with a net to get him some tasty dead fish snax.  That way I wouldn'ta had to do it.

I am incredibly curious about this.  Gahh, volus, quarians, protheans...so many races we don't get to see outright. *sigh*

What makes me especially curious is that while the creative team were drawing up sketches of how the various races are going to look like, I'm sure they had to draw out anatomical sketches of what's underneath in order to draw them with their clothes/armor. These preliminary drawings are available to us of Turians and Salarians, but for races like Volus, Krogan and Quarians (I don't know about protheans. Did they come up in the first game? I'm only 2 hours into it) there are characteristics like the Krogan tail or Quarian leg spurs and eyes. All of which further increases curiosity.

On an unrelated note, anyone fancy being a beta for some fanfic I'm working on, please? I have no idea on the proper etiquette for obtaining such services, so I thought I'd put it out there. (that's what he said!) I must go to sleep now, but if anyone is up for giving my stuff a once over to let me know if the voices, etc, are OK, please PM me. I need all the help I can get! There would have been nothing wrong with that, IMO.  Still tasteful, but sultrier.  I mean, you already know they're going to have sex, that's the whole point, so why not something like this instead of what we got?
Still, I can't complain too much about the scene we actually got.  The back-of-the-hand rub ending was actually kind of cool.

To be fair, the mere existence of Garrus as a romance option is fanservice incarnate.  

I think a shirtless Garrus can be done and look natural...I mean...they're not exactly getting ready to start up a game of poker.  It's sex, not a cuddle-session (although, again, I wouldn't mind seeing that post-deed).  Some undressing, touching, whatever, fade to black, or do something similar to what they did in ME1 with the tasteful camera placements...it can be done.  I'm not saying go for a porno, but I would definitely like to see more than just a headbump/cut-to-black (it was far too abrupt in ME2 for a proper fade-to-black, imo).

How about this, Shepard and Garrus have a conversation after they have another implied intimate moment. The scene shows Gar just sitting on the edge of a bed or something, slightly hunched over like he's thinking.  His shirt is off but it’s not fan-servicey (not a word  I know) and in your face, he's just sitting there.  Shep wakes up and asks what's wrong and he could say he doesn't want to lose her again (upcoming final battle) and they can have a heart to heart.  This makes the conversation the most important component and not the half naked part.

Very good point.  I just wanted to say that the protheans appeared in statues in games 1 and 2.  Since you're currently playing 1, I'll not say more (except to say that I'm jealous at you playing ME1 for the first time)

I knoooow it's inherently fanservice, but there's fanservice and there's fanservice-yyy.  And I am completely in favor of there being more intimacy than what we got, but it's just got to be done right.  Whatever "right" entails isn't something I should attempt to pin down myself.  Still, I don't think it inherently involves a specific level of undress.  Not to say that would necessarily be a good thing or a bad thing, just that I don't think it's necessarily necessary, you know?  I think they can make it nice without having us set that sort of requirement.

I agree that the next romance scene doesn't need undressing, as long as it's more intimate than the headbump and the sudden fade to black. And as you said Ray, Shepard showed, like, zero emotion. I liked the scene, but it could have been better.

 It's kind of like the Tali debate.  I don't necessarily need to see Tali's face if Bioware doesn't want that.  I need to see a quarian face because I'm curious.

Likewise with Garrus: I'm not sure I need to see shirtless Garrus in-game because it would make me uncomfortable, I won't lie. (I'm the stick in the mud raining on ya'll's parade, my bad.) Reading about it in fanfic is one thing, seeing it onscreen is a whole different taco.

But I do want to know what a turian looks like under the armor. Somehow, some way.  Maybe updated concept art, I'd be fine with that.
