Grunt only sounds like Spike in one line (...I was listening for him, okay?), either due to acting or whatever audio-editing is used for the krogan voice (probably both).

oh man what if Blum did the Spike voice for a romanceable turian

You really don't think so? They've both got that rumbly sort of quality; the flanging enhances it for Garrus, but Keener has that kind of voice naturally. They're not alike in pitch--Spike is a lot deeper--but that sort of piercing tone. I don't know quite how to describe it...can someone back me up and tell me it's not just me?

I'm quite fond of this thread and it's members, so I'd like to post this group. It's for character analysis and discussion, join if you're so inclined. Only rule is not to flame each other, but then again I don't think I need to worry about that from you all.

P.S. Garrus' voice is awesome. Badass extraordinaire

Not sure if I understand what you mean by "piercing," but yeah. I do sense a mutual gravely quality in their voices that is very delicious.

Aww man... I'd jump on that, Collider, but then I'd never get any work done. (Which is to say, probably in the future.)

Alright, alright, it's too early for me to get my hopes up, and I can't sit around here and keep refreshing the results. Arrivaderci, friends.

I have the suspicion that I may be able to watch that .gif many many times. The close up on the puppet sems to seal the deal for me.

...what constitutes whining and crying to some people? Seriously. I'd be a bit worried to meet some forumites in real life, they might send me into the vents for having an opinion.

That's what I thought enormous. They must have a pretty liberal view of whining if they think Garrus is, IMO. Apparently noting that things have gone wrong equals whining. Or maybe I'm just misinterpreting *shrug* I never ever get whining from Garrus.

If some of you guys don't mind, i'm writing paragraphs to help change this person's point of view of garrus. Hell, i could write a whole essay at this point. Do you guys want to help me out? Two heads are better then one.:wizard:

Garrus? Whining? lol

He's about as tough as you can get and still seem realistic. I liked how he developed from ME1 to ME2. He was always a little...flat in ME1 if that makes any sense. I still liked him but he just didn't resonate with me as much then.

The other arguement was that garrus did not seem to care about the reapers after shepard died and went off to do his own thing. My arguement was that he really couldn't do much.

Oh enormousmoonboots, I am disappoint.  You would really leave Garrus for some Digimon?

You're right, Garrus couldn't do much at all. After all, after ME1 we pretty much have no leads on the Reapers, all we know is that Sovereign is gone and apparently more Reapers are coming, nothing more than that. And like you said Blazen, if Garrus did not care about the Reapers he would not have joined Shepard. Garrus always struck me as someone who knew the big picture - Saren had to be stopped, the Collectors have to be stopped, and the Reapers have to be stopped. Liara? She just wants her revenge on the Shadow Broker. It's not fair to criticize Garrus and not criticize Liara too.

I don't want to get involved right now but it's a bad idea to bring Liara into it. I mean, I'll be amazed if you can convince somebody to empathize with a character they don't already care for in the first place, but bringing up Liara's character will just make him defensive. It doesn't really have anything to do with Garrus anyway.

Well, he/she kind of asked for it. Talking bad about  garrus in a garrus discussion and all. Besides i wasn't talking smack about liara i was just stating my opinion and facts.

I really don't know what they expected Garrus, Liara, Tali, or the Virmire survivor to do about the reapers. None of them are charismatic or connected enough to get a ship and crew to deal with it themselves. It seems to me each dealed with what they could and put the rest out of their minds. A fairly reasonable reaction to me.

Don't take it personally.  That he is engaging you in discussion at all is a sign of some respect and interest.  I don't think "character discussions" should be limited to admiration.

Eh, guess your right. I did kind of get a little overboard with liara, ashley and kaidan but come on, didn't i make a decent arguement for garrus?

Sure, and he came in pretty harsh too. Maybe it's just because that thread about whining the other day got me thinking--it seems that when people just aren't very interested in a character, all of that character's legitimate concerns and complaints get written off as "whining." And frequently it's not a reflection of the character's writing or story, it just shows you how much that player/reader/viewer/whatever connected with the character. That's why there are so many characters many people will find compelling while others will just write off as "whiny."

Good way to put it, also ray, about convincing people to like garrus, i had a couple of friends who thought garrus was uninteresting for the same reason, after talking with them though they now think garrus is a badass and want to take him along on missions. So who knows, maybe my magic would work against garrus haters:wizard:

Cause really in the end there isn't really much to hate about garrus in the first place.

Pretty much, Blazen...it's hard to think of people hating him. *shrug*
