Raphael diSanto, that was an amazing piece of work. .

Agreed. And don't worry about OOC-ness, Garrus is actually a pretty flexible character to write. The hardest character to write without making him sound OOC is Thane, IMO. It's really hard.

Oh, and I've also written a new FemShepxGarrus crackfic. It's rated M, and for a good reason. Doesn't have any smutty parts, though. But still. VIEWER BEWARE!

I'm glad I don't have to write him then, lol

And that fic made me laugh. Embarrassment all round. Except for Mordin, it would appear....

The thing with Thane's romance is that it makes a dramatic, empty leap from 'let me tell you about my dead wife" to "I want you, Thane". Kind of feels like one of those movies where a widower has photos of his tragically dead wife all over his house and the new wife is supposed to live with that.

Oh great, now I have this image of my femshep as 'I' from Rebecca.  "Last night I dreamed I was on the Normandy again..."

Hah, nice work.

Decided to edit the skit out above... sorry to anybody who liked it, sorry to anybody who saw it, and sorry to anybody missed out in it, which was why I decided to remvoe it. Don't worry, I remember you all, I just couldn't put everyone in without making it too large. Sorry, guys.

Maybe Google Docs might be a good alternative, too. You can export directly to Word and it's easy to use.

Yeah, that would have been a good backup, though the only problem is that the only computers I could range between is the Garrus computer (...that's what I've been calling my laptop all the time, I've realised) and this one, which due to its position where the whole family can conveniently access it gets quite a lot of Gmail traffic, so I'd rather not go there. Google docs would work at school, but I don't want to get into the awkwardness and implications if I got caught fanficcing about Garrus at school.

Anyway, Garrus.

Awesome work, writers! Raphael: touching. Xsauce: hilarious.

I'm a pretty decent writer but I never have the follow through or discipline to do much of that for fun. So I just enjoy the fruits of everyone else's labors.

I just got an e-mail from someone who wants to translate my Fail for the Lost fic into Russian, for all the Russian ME fans to enjoy.

I feel so proud now.

"Impressive!"

Even Garrus approves. Either that or Shepard shot someone really good.

I have to catch up on all the apparently awesome fic that has been posted! This may take some time.

But on an unrealted note, Kotori (anyone?) up for happy hour? lol

Also: can't believe BlueL got a ban for posting her pics. They are awesome pics.

Also, not a conversation which I can fit into my fic, but it keeps circulating in my head.
Kaiden and Garrus sitting at a bar.

Kaiden: I wish the two of you well, I really do. But I swear: if you ever hurt her, I'll kill you.
Garrus: Not if she gets to me first.

My brain is just on randomise today!

Edit: Well done on translation fic! :D

Also, @Flammie if you don't want to use google docs, LJ is pretty good. You can set posts to private 'til you're ready to publich. It's also a nice community for posting writing.

Yeah, it's a shame. But she'll be back in 24 hours, and she says she's going to do some more artwork.

That sounds like an interesting conversation.

And, I'm fine with what I've got. I'm not really sure about being on LJ... I don't think I'm really for it...

Sure, I'll find her for you.

*gets on knees and searches ground*

*dramatic camera reveal shows Kotori an unconcious pile on the ground, broken wine glass with drink spilling onto the floor in hand*

Here we go.

*pokes Kotori with foot*

Hmm... she's not moving.

*walks over to puddle of wine spilling from glass, and slowly lowers head*

Kotori: GET AWAY FROM MY DRINK!!!!

*Kotori grabs me and flings me out of the window*

Reappearing after a long absence (and popping in while I can due to real life stuff) after noticing the maturity level has risen again since I last was here.  This is a good thing!

After playing with Kasumi a bit, and starting the romance with Garrus again, her comment about him really liking Shepard got me to rethink the situation.  He wouldn't have just started to "really like" Shepard after just two flirts.  Yeah, sure, there's probably something going on in between, but to me it kind of confirms the idea that he had feelings for Shepard that he didn't actually recognize before she propositioned him outright.  No, I don't think he was secretly in love with her.  What I do think is that he was already starting to feel an attraction for her that went hand-in-hand with the respect.  I understand Tali had a crush on male Shepard--I think it's probably the same for Garrus and Femshep, what with his somewhat flirty dialogue before you can even romance him.  I don't believe he considered sex with her (he says this himself) before she offers, but since he doesn't hesitate for very long to agree to it, he must have at least begun to find her attractive.

So now, the next scene after starting up the flirting seems to me more like Garrus trying to see how serious Shepard is about the whole thing, rather than taking it at face value like I originally did--believing that maybe Garrus was having second thoughts due to safety and preferences (and the problems that might arise).  The idea that he's just checking how serious Shepard is kind of backed up by his questioning whether there might be 'someone closer to home' whom Shepard may prefer, and then Shepard's response question--if Garrus is actually comfortable with the situation.  Not to mention as soon as she tells him she wants him, not somebody else, he's all for it again.  If he were having doubts, I don't think that would really allay them, unless he's worried about her cheating.

And another random thought:  Anyone else consider that during the final romance scene, Garrus specifies that he didn't watch the culture vids?  I think he did watch the "other" vids.  You know which ones I mean!  My theory:  The poor guy probably thought human culture was similar enough to turian culture that he could just go about seducing her like he would a turian--after all, he hadn't done any in-depth study of human culture before and she still apparently wanted him without any extra effort on his part.  The intercourse would be the part he thought he needed to figure out (previous dialogue would imply this, too), particularly since they might accidentally kill each other.  He realized too late that culture might be important too...

Lame, I know, to focus solely on the romance, but I don't have anything else Garrus-related to share at the moment.

Anyway, those are some interesting thoughts into the whole thing. I actually haven't thought about what Garrus meant by "should have watched the vids", and neither did I really link it to "human culture", I thought he just meant he didn't watch anything in preparation, but I guess it could be taken that he meant he didn't study human culture enough but instead researched other things.

And, as kglaser called it, I'm off to "roost" for the night.

Shepard,

I talked to Liara the other day. We.. We hadn't really spoken since... Well, you know. She's crazy, that one. Even crazier than she was when we were on the Normandy with that whole... mystic Asari 'embrace eternity' crap. We talked after.. Well, we had a memorial service for you. You wouldn't have liked it. I guarantee it.

She said the strangest thing to me.

"If Shepard could be brought back, what would you do?"

That's what she said to me. Crazy damn Asari. Brought back? You're dead. You got spaced. There's no coming back from that. Not even for you. What the hell did she mean? I think I need you here to answer that one for me.

I mean, hell, you were always the one with the answers, Shepard. Kill Dr. Saleon, don't kill Dr. Saleon? You had the answer. Bring Saren in alive, don't even waste the time? You had the answer. You always had the damn answer.

You know how irritating that was? You know how frustrating it was to know that you always had the answer, and you always had a reason for it. And you know what the worst part was, the most annoying part of all? Your damn reasons were good. And your answers were right.

Dammit, Shepard, back then I had no questions. I had it all figured out. C-Sec was stifling, paperwork got in the way of doing the right thing and I just knew I could do a better job if the game was played by my rules. And then you showed up and I took my chance. I could see it, right in front of me. Here was a chance to do things my way. The right way. Show everyone how it was done. Show you how it was done.

But it didn't work out that way, did it? You saw beyond the badge and the gun. Beyond the confidence. You saw me. The real me. The me I didn't even know existed until I met you. And you knew that I didn't have any damn answers of my own. Not the right ones, anyway. No, I didn't impart any fancy Turian military doctrine wisdom to the jumped up wannabe human Spectre. You didn't learn from me. I learned from you. We all did.

You were the glue that held us all together. What is that human saying? The whole is greater than the sum of its parts? Put together - We were a whole. And you were the one that made it happen. You were the nexus. We were drawn to you and we could no more escape the force of your personality than Palaven can escape its orbit. And then you left us; and now we are wandering aimlessly through the void like a planet with no star, pulled many directions by many forces, but none strong enough to capture us like you did.

You shook my world view, Shepard. You redefined me. You took a C-Sec agent trying to do the right thing in the wrong place and you gave him a purpose. And then you died, and .. now I need a new purpose .. Something else to give my life meaning. When I first met you, I thought I had all the answers. I was wrong. You showed me that. And now you're gone, but I still need you here.. to.. to answer the questions I can't answer myself anymore. To explain the things I can't understand.

When Liara asked me what she asked me.. I answered in the only way I could. I told her that I would do.. anything you needed.

But I still don't know what she meant.

I wish you were here. I wish you could explain it to me. But you're not, and I have to figure it out myself.. But.. Wherever you are, Shepard. Wherever you've gone.. I hope you know where I am, and that.. I'll be here if you need me.

Garrus

Wow. That is stunningly good. I'm genuinely impressed. You really capture Garrus' voice with that. I'm a little unclear on when it was written though. Given the contents of the letter I imagine it's before Shepard was resurrected but if so, why was Garrus writing it? As a journal?

Anyhow, good piece.

I actually think he specifies something about the vids being about human culture.  But I may be remembering it hazily since it's been a while since I played to that part.

Hmm...

"Hopefully that's not offensive in human culture. Crap, I knew I should have watched the vids... throw me a line, Shepard!"

Yeah, it's sad I remembered the line off the top of my head. As said, it's entirely possible to link the vids he's referring to as human culture, or just link the vids as general human stuff, and maybe human-turian stuff.

And, I'm actually off to "roost", now. Dammit, this thread draws me away from the rest I should be getting.

I think Raphael meant it as the sort of letter grieving people sometimes write. So it would have been written sometime after Shepard's memorial service, before he left for Omega.

My favorite thing about that "extended romance scene" from facepunch is that now whenever I hear this line I think of that Ludacris song.

Power through, Sialater! I did for 500, and only really dozed off at work once the next day. :P

@Brass_Buckles. I agree with a lot of that. I do think the affection/admiration/attraction has been growing for a while, but I don't think Garrus realised it was there until Shepard put sex on the table. I don't think it crossed his mind because between the cross-spieces thing and the commander/soldier relationship made it seem like an almost imposibility. When he questions her about if she is sure, I think he is giving her an out in case this damages their existing relationship. I like to think he didn't watch the culture vids, because he was overthinking the other parts of the relationship (the parts which stood out in his mind as being the biggest barrier). He seems to get quite stuck in his head about the whole thing, until Shepard intervenes and he relaxes.

I can't see him worrying about her cheating, and vice versa. I think that the trust that exists between the two is what allows them to take their relationship to that next level. I think she might just be the only person he trusts in the whole universe (and vice versa)

... I do love discussing the romance. :D

Welcome back Brass! I wouldn't say the maturity level has risen. Because... hey, did somebody call happy hour? I'm joining tonight, Janey XD

@Raphael diSanto: That letter was amazing. And you chose the best sentence to finish it: I'll be here if you need me. Because that's really what Garrus is about. He's always watching your back.

And Xsause, congrats with the Russian translation :). That fic is hilarious.

Random thought inspired by my pet parakeet.

It would be amusing if turians stood on one foot when comfortable.

Alas, evidence suggests that they don't.
