So will I, because even if he does have more in-mission lines, I want to talk more with him. And not just about sex. How about letting both genders of Shep have an actual meaningful conversation or three with Garrus? Like asking him what exactly finally made him head to Omega? What did he do before that, after Shepard's death? What's his dad up to these days?



Garrus feels more mature in ME2, but at the same time, while he and Tali are probably the best-developed squad members, I still feel like I don't get to know them as well as I did in ME1. They've changed, but we don't get as much insight into those changes as I would like.



And seriously, Bioware, surely Garrus would have something to say to Shepard if she's romancing him other than worrying about how they'll manage to have sex--granted the "this is about us" line is pretty sweet, but it would be nice to have further indications that Garrus likes to spend time with Shepard as a person. For instance:



Garrus: Thanks for spending time with me, Shepard. I know you're busy. When you're here, I can think about something besides Collectors and Reapers and death and betrayal. I, uh--You still make me nervous, but in a good way.



Shepard: (Paragon) I'm never too busy for you, Garrus, especially if my presence means that much to you.

Shepard: (Neutral) I enjoy these visits, too, but don't let them get in the way of your work.

Shepard: (Renegade) Look, Garrus, we both have jobs to do, and if I'm making you nervous, you aren't at your best. Maybe it's better if we just stay friends and don't take this any farther. I don't want to lose any of my crew because flirting got in the way of work.



Garrus (If Paragon Option): People may talk about your frequent visits, Shepard, but I say let them. I want to spend every moment with you I can get before we face the Collectors.

Garrus (If Neutral Option): Of course not, Commander. If I think it's going to be hard to work after one of our talks, I'll take a break and get a cold shower or two.

Garrus (If Renegade Option): *sounding disappointed*... You're probably right, Commander. I wouldn't want to know somebody had died because I wasn't focused on my work. It was selfish of me to hope you'd spend more time here, keeping me, ah, distracted. Next time you want to spend some time together, just take me out on a mission. We'll keep this professional. I need to get back to work, but I'll be here if you need me.

I think he is focusing on the sex because that is less vulnerable. If it's just sex, their relationship doesn't have to change. It's only in that last scene that he starts to admit that it's more significant than that. And I think that's a nice little story to have played out.

Edit: Plus, I think the amount of conversations it takes to settle on that decision feels right.  If it were two more friendly conversations, or even merely flirty conversations, followed by one "wanna do it?" "okay!" conversation, that'd seem like they jumped over that obstacle too quickly and easily.

But I agree completely that there should have been more friendly-type conversation available to both genders. Reunion conversation, calibrations. Sidonis conversation, calibrations. Thank you conversation, calibrations. Maybe it is OCD.

I'm playing Male!Shep right now and it sucks that after bragging about reach and flexibility Garrus is right back to the calibrations.



Garrus, sweetheart--I know you calibrate when you're bored. And when you're nervous. And when you're wishing I would dump the blond male Shepard with all the scars for that lady with the green eyes. But these people are right--it would be nice to have some more "just friends" conversation options.



Actually, if you're a player who doesn't care to romance anyone, to be able to have a few "just friends" conversations that aren't always trying to lead into romance would be nice.

I agree. He has more to lose by getting with Shepard and it going wrong than I think anyone else does. Sex stuff is easier to move past than emotional stuff if it doesn't work out (although the two are sadly quite often tied up together).

Yeah, I know...there are so many things we could just ask him:  How's your face feeling?  How do you like the rest of the ship (oh wait, he never goes there)?  Have you caught up on old times with Tali?  And the dad thing. etc.etc.  I mean if they are such old friends/comrades in battle, they could at least reminisce about one of the old more minor battles they fought or something.  Anything!

I finally got around to playing some DA:O Awakening last night and died laughing at the party banter and I only did a short bit at the beginning. WHY CAN'T WE HAVE THIS IN ME?! WHY?! It makes the characters so much more interesting and hilarious!

I'm really happy you found us, too...I hadn't ever seen those first two pieces.  Great!
And I agree wholeheartedly about the third one.  She just put so much detail into his face and body structure it's stunning.
Also, your English seems flawless to me.  I'd never have known you weren't a native speaker if you hadn't told us.
