It's something the fans do, I think. I guess it stems from the feline appearance.

I don't think Garrus, or turians can purr, unless they're doing some sort of impression of a cat. I think they're more the growling/roaring type.

I swear, you go to sleep for just a few minutes (12 hours @__@) and you miss out on all the fun. I hate this timezone! I didn't read too hard so was it ever established as to why my arch nemesis is now a schoolgirl chicken? =x

On more serious Garrus and turian related matters, I think the whole purring thing comes from that flanging effect in their voices. Me, personally I don't think so. That's just a little too cutesy wootsy for me. Although, that one particular piece of fanart Mrs. Vakarian came up with, the purring is most definitely allowed 

 Now, growling I could definitely see a turian doing if he's especially PO'ed. I think this topic came up not too long ago, actually...I'm definitely in favor of growling...Hissing is also something I've seen in a lot of fics. What's your guys' take on that? I'm on the fence. I've been hissed at by birds AND lizzards.

Interestingly enough, the bird that hissed at me was a chicken. The lizzard, however, was a monitor. They always hiss when they're cranky

God, saren was a good villian. I was glad that i killed him since he was such an ass. We need to have another ass of a villian in me3. lets just hope its not garrus:unsure:

If these aren't testaments to the incredible power of Brandon Keener's voice, I don't know what is.  (Someone should tell his publicist that people are buying things he was in for like 1 minute.)
I mean seriously, can you think of any other VA for whom we would do that??
God gave him such a gift... /swoon <3

eta:  This has absolutely nothing whatever to do with Garrus, but I saw it in the Tali thread and found it too mesmerizing not to show you all (I'm off the hook because the rest of my post is about Garrus's VA, muahaha):
