I swear, you go to sleep for just a few minutes (12 hours @__@) and you miss out on all the fun. I hate this timezone! I didn't read too hard so was it ever established as to why my arch nemesis is now a schoolgirl chicken? =x
On more serious Garrus and turian related matters, I think the whole purring thing comes from that flanging effect in their voices. Me, personally I don't think so. That's just a little too cutesy wootsy for me. Although, that one particular piece of fanart Mrs. Vakarian came up with, the purring is most definitely allowed
Now, growling I could definitely see a turian doing if he's especially PO'ed. I think this topic came up not too long ago, actually...I'm definitely in favor of growling...Hissing is also something I've seen in a lot of fics. What's your guys' take on that? I'm on the fence. I've been hissed at by birds AND lizzards.
I've been hissed at by a turtle, but not by a bird.
My bird does not hiss, but she does growl when she's annoyed or angry (and sometimes kind of growls when she's happy but being too lazy to make a proper "happy squeak"). I can totally see a turian growling. Hissing not so much; I've seen Saren's roar, but I haven't seen a turian do anything like hissing when he's angry.
I really don't think turians would purr. I know some people think so, but the closest I honestly think they could get is the tone of voice in a human that you might call a "purr." Basically their "sexy voice." In that sense, I could see Garrus "purring" -- seeing as he does use the "sexy voice" tone a lot once the flirting starts (albeit with all the wrong phrases. "I can do that. I'll just find some music, and do some research..." Because research is just so sexy, Garrus.) However, I can't imagine him doing a literal, feline-type purr. I also don't see him growling when he's happy/affectionate (even though my bird does--I think she's just a weird bird). Just look how cautious and gentle he starts out being in that last romance scene. Now, maybe with that turian recon scout he was growling...
