Also, props to the designers for consulting the women staff. Just like the 'Garrus needs wine!' bit.
What do you mean by that? Did the Bioware women staffers come up with that or something? If so that's awesome.

And I would have liked to see Thane with those three metal rings on his ear (or whatever) but oh well.
And we wouldn't have missed them if we hadn't have known. Journalism, you both bless and curse us.

I also find it really funny that the whole "Jude Law" thing was supposed to be the fangirl net, but the net that caught me was actually Abe Sapien. That's pretty funny. Women are pretty hard to predict apparently. What do you think the Bioware reponse was to the very first "I want Garrus for LI" thread? Probably some guys facepalming or looking imploringly up at the heavens or just sitting there slack-jawed wearing WTF expressions. I bet it was funny, whatever it was.
Net... OH HO HO. I'm not sure we even understand ourselves, it's a tricky market. XD
I'm sure it was originally met with incredulity, followed by pondering, followed by a "Why the hell not?" Not unlike Garrus's reaction to Shepard's propositioning him...
Someday, we may find out. Maybe. Nonetheless, they brought it on themselves when they made the character.
"Do I love you because you're a badass, or are you a badass because I love you?"

I swear we had an article (maybe in the 300s? 400s? throw me a line guys!) somewhere about the design of the outfit and while wine thing...I have no idea where it is now.

(Haha, I found it by typing in part of the snarky comment I made about it in the thread into Google and...hey presto! I LOVE Google.)
edit: paragraph 2.
also: it was page 330. not bad Jackalope!!

Likewise, I think that's why the Thane worship has slowed done. He was THE most anticipated femshep LI on the old forums, but I think that was mostly because his initial fanbase was mostly made up of Garrusophiles who latched onto Thane because they thought he was a more likely option for an malien LI. We never dreamed they would actually give us Garrus. Remember, how often Garrus came up in Thane thread memes back then? The infamous "strip hug-off" joke and all that? Now, that he is an LI, tons of fangirls reverted and the Thane love has dried up. I'm in this crowd myself. Don't get me wrong. I love Thane, and if Garrus wasn't around I'd have been very happy with him, but yea, Garrus....
Maybe I am misinterpreting the situation. Obviously, I'm not the Gallup pole or a shrink. I can't predict trends, but this darn sure seems to be the case to me.

And I don't think I'm going to play tonight...I am going to get this Dragon Age avatar image up...I'm so tired of this default Shepard thing I have going on.
A female turian would be nice too...

-going to Palaven (as a full blown hubworld with shops and stuff; think Omega but bigger)
-meeting Garrus' dad (different encounter with romanced Garrus)
-what tattoos go with what colonies / finding out what colony Garrus was from (is there anyone else with his type of tattoo?)

Huh, especially if you role a Spacer Shepard and your mother is still alive.

That makes it sound like we're all xenophiles... PFF. Eh, Thane would never have had a fair shake anyway, most of us had the first game to get attached to Garrus. But yeah, I empathize.
IT WAS NOT THAT I LOVED THANE LESS, BUT THAT I LOVED GARRUS MORE.

My renegade Shep was suppose to romance Thane...whoops...I'll have to create a new Shepard for that.
I'm managing to avoid Garrus in an attempt to romance Thane with my current Shep... it's such a strain that my strength of will in other aspects of my life right now has been drained. And good luck with that... XD

Unknown. The metagame reason is that the villain needs to look different. It's worth noting that Saren's 'horns' are in the same place as where other turians have fringe, it's just bigger and juts out more. Either it's a product of all his modification (there's some metallic/blinky parts on it), or it's a regular turian mutation, like having six fingers.Ragabul the Ontarah wrote...
Also, while we're on turian design, how come Saren is the only guy with those ridiculous long ears or whatever they are? I thought those were pretty darn cool looking. Is that just because he is so altered or is he some rare sub-race of turian? He's a little shorter and stockier than other turians as well. Sorry, if this has already been discussed. I only get on once every few weeks so I miss a lot of conversations and am horrible about rehashing subjects that are new to me but old to everyone else.

The Silver Chord
After deep concideration Garrus went up to Shepard's room to investigate.
"Commander? Are you in there i was looking all over for you." He heard no response so he quickly put his omni tool to work to hack through the door's console. The door slowly opened and concern washed over him as he looked to the scene. There was shattered glass everywhere with shepard's model ships scattered and broken littered all over the ground. He slowly walked in with his battle instincts on, thinking that there was a intruder. He heard running water in the restroom. Garrus called out in a grim tone.
"Commander, are you in there?"
And he heard him reply in the most sorrowful tone he ever heard from any person in his life.
"Can it wait a bit, i'm in the middle of some callibrations."
Some relief washed over him. But he was still deeply concerned.
Neil walked out expressionless. After a short pause he decided to break the awkward silence.
"I'm...sorry. You kind of caught me in a bad time, i decided to head back to the normandy after the so called meeting i had with the council. I didn't want to ruin any of my crew's vacation with my woo-is-me bullcrap, didn't think you'd want to here it either."
"I'm sorry comma-"
"I think you knew me long enough to let up that commander crap. You are also the closest friend i have in this living hell. You can call me Neil now Garrus."
"Alright Neil. So i take that the meeting with the council didn't go that well."
"The hell it didn't go well, this meeting was even worse then last time!"
Neil went down the small steps and gestered garrus to follow and sit down with him on the couch. He was bent over with his hands covering his face. He let out a prolonged sigh.
"I'm so glad you came garrus, because right now....right now i have never felt so hopeless and helpless in all my life. You were right garrus, the council still has their thumbs up their ass even though i showed them clear proof that something bad is coming our way."
Shepard paused for a moment.
"I'm not some kind of god-damned superhero which the most of the galaxy thinks i am. Truth of the matter is, i don't even know what brought cerberus to revive someone like me. I mean, i know i was the first human spectre and saved the citadel. But there is freaking over 11 billion humans spread out all over the galaxy. Trillions more ranging from a variety of different species, and they are telling me that they found no one better to take my place?!" Neil slammed his fist against the table, but garrus was still calm closely listening to what shepard had to say. "This isn't some science fiction story garrus. An army genocidal immortal machines are coming to **** over the galaxy, and i am the last hope of the galaxy? What do they expect me to do? Take on the reapers half naked?"
"Well Neil, judging from what i seen from you 2 years ago and the past 6 months i wouldn't be suprised if you did."
Shepard laughed out loud which seemed to ease the tension in his voice. But he still frowned when he talked.
"The council has abadoned me for the second time clearly without having any brains whatsoever. But like you said, its what you would expect from a bunch politicians."
"How much do you know about me garrus?
"Well, not to much. You had parents on the colony of mindior but they were killed in a batarian raid. Then you joined the alliance at a young age. You were the sole survivor of a thresher maw attack orchestrated by cerberus."
Neil then took out a neckelace with a shiny metal dangling in the middle of his chest.
"Did i ever show you this garrus? This is what people called 'harmonies' back then. This was passed on from generations from my family roots. Its supposed to be some kind of Voo-doo that would bind your soul to nature, protect you from bad luck and spirits and whatnot. Though my parents were probably the most gentle people you would have ever seen. They would probably not even cared that you were an alien or a turian in your case. They tried to help out in anyway they possibly could. The galaxy would be a better place if there were more people like them. Huh, ward off bad luck my ass. My parents were killed, all of the closest friends i had on akuze were murdered by cereberus. Just when i thought my life took a turn by becoming a spectre and saved the citadel i got freakin shot out of space and died. Returned two years later by the same basterds who killed off the people that were as close to family then i had as a child. Most of my crew were dead or continued their life. The council called me a traitor. And Ashley"
Neil tried his very best not to spill out any more emotions then he already had to his best friend.
"Ashley of all people...i loved her. I'm glad you didn't come to my quarters that day because i was close to losing my sanity that day. I'm losing it garrus, there is just so much one person can take and i think...i think..."
At that moment garrus realized that Neil was not so much different as he was. And that he was possibly the closest thing he had to family since he left his father. He did the only thing he could do.
"Shepard, if you think all hope is lost then i have 12 reasons to disagree with you." That seemed to catch his attention. "Not only that, but i believe that there is no one else quite like you out in the galaxy. You are a rare person Neil. You have earned that respect that most people in the galaxy gives you. And whether its the reapers or the council, all 12 of us will always be at your side. I will always be here when you need me the most."
Neil took a while to take this all in. Finally he said "Thank you garrus, i don't know where i would be without people like you."
Garrus helped shepard off the couch and patted him on the back. "Come on, i'm still damned sober and you owe me a couple of drinks."
End
What do you guys think?

Actually, how many of my DA characters romanced Alistair? Oh...all of them. I really need to branch out more. It's just so hard to beat those puppy eyes. Or those scars on Garrus.
Or maybe I have a thing for guys with awkward sexual metaphors. Lamposts or heat sinks, it's all the same...
