"Its [Sovereign's] grandeur and complexity rivaled the greatest creations of the Protheans-the mass relays and the Citadel. It may have even surpassed them. And if Saren could learn and understand how it worked, he could seize all that power for himself. He'd spent his entire life preparing for a moment like this.." yada, yada, goes on about his megolomania for a few more paragraphs.
Why does he want all that power?
"Once he unleashed that power, everything would be forever changed. Never again would the turians be forced to bow before the will of the council....Humanity would learn its place, along with every other species that paid homage to the Citadel."
So, megolomaniac? Check.
Racist? Check.
Sadist? Check.
And this is all before he actually encounters the ship so no indoctrination. All that's pretty traditional "high fantasy" or "space opera" badguy, the whole "uber evil guy who steals candy from babies and sets puppies on fire for fun." I liked the nuance of video game Saren much better so I tend to ignore Revelation.

Yeah, I liked that part about Saren and the batarian.
He is racist against humans, but his anger seems very similar to humans after wars in the past. While that doesn't make it right to hate all humans, it's at least understandable why he feels that way.

This post probably needs a spoiler warning... Possible spoilers for Revelation ahead!
Yeah, I liked that part about Saren and the batarian.(And my Renegon who spent a couple minutes deciding how Jacob's father should be killed would approve.) I never thought of him as the "evil and cruel for fun" type of guy, just the type who would kill whoever he needs to kill to get the job done. What he said to Anderson about shooting the workers because they would be shooting at him reminds me of Feros in ME1, except Shepard had the option to use special gas grenades to knock the workers unconscious (and even then Shepard can choose to just shoot them).

Well, I did warn about spoilers, but maybe I need to type it bigger or a put a larger space or something. I'll do that.

Yikes, my offhand comments earlier have seriously derailed this thread and now I wish I had never said them as the Garrus thread is famous for being very peaceful and not arguing. I don't suppose I could take it back in the name of peace and continued mutual discussion of Garrus' awesomeness?
No harm done. We were having a decent and mature discussion, so don't worry about derailing this thread by giving your opinion

As for gay/bi relationships in the game: Those were recorded. They just didn't make it into the game. There are soundfiles of manShep saying "I am not screwing Garrus" to Mordin, and femShep talking about Tali, Jack and Miranda to Mordin. (and I thought there were more, but it's 6:15 now, I don't have time to go through all those files again. I want to go to sleep [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie])
I just wonder why the hell BW didn't remove these soundfiles from the disc.
What!? How did I miss this, I'm so depressed now. Is there a youtube link with those files or somewhere to download them..? Curse you Bioware!
I can extract these files and upload them somewhere if you want.
And.... I should really sign up on Deviant art. Damn mature content I can't see
So... Garrus.

So the banner with the 1st 40:

After I finish putting them all on one banner, I'll start taking requests for groups of particular facts, so you have until then to pick your favourites!

Since the list is so huge, I decided that I should release the Garrus facts banners as I work on them. After all, I've done 40 facts and I still have 3 pages left!

Thank you, there -cannot- be too many Garrus banners.

On another note, I have been messing around with ME1 the last few days and took Tali and Garrus for the final run on the citadel, and lo and behold, TALI is the one who suggests I let the council die while Garrus advocates I save them. Makes sense, given the unfair shake the council has given the quarians, but I still found it surprising. I thought Garrus was the more "renegade" of that pair by far. I HATE how squaddies opinions change based on who else is in your squad. It makes it so hard to peg what they actually think. I know Garrus also advocates saving the council if you have Wrex or Ash with you, but that's not saying much. The Tali thing surprised me though.
I think I had Kaiden with me...and Garrus said to let the council go. Which surpirsed me, because I was thinking 'but he's your bro'.
Although Garrus hates red tape...and who has more red tape then those three?

I'm now thinking that this has something to do with which slot the characters are in, or maybe it has to do with whether you paragoned or renegaded them but I don't think so cause my renegade Garrus still wanted to save the council. Huh, come to think, I don't know if I ever have heard him want to destroy it. I don't remember who said what when I took Kaidan with me cause it's been ages since I let poor Kaidan off Virmire. (I figured babysitting a nuke would be more humane then him loosing his girl because of a darn turian yet again...oh, the irony.) Makes me wonder, maybe Garrus is just staunch about protecting them. Surely he goes renegade if you bring Liara along? I cannot buy the idea of Liara wanting to off the council

And they send you miranda. But seriously me and my friends were talking about this. How long do you think the developers spent making her ass? Like 5 or 6 months?
"Alright joe we have pretty much finished up the game. How is miranda going?"
"Working on it, almost done i promise."
(5 months later)
"Alright joe we the game is pretty much good to go did you finish up miranda yet?"
"No! It needs to be perfect!"
Huh, no wonder why it took them so long to release me2.

If anyone has any ME1/ME2 requests for a Garrus screenie (specific scenes, locations, etc.), just ask me. I'll see what I can do.

Okay, I just started a new ME1 playthrough for nostalgia's sake. I decided to take some Garrus pics when I arrived at the Citadel Tower. Yay for high-res Garrus!
Gawd I love how pouty he looks! "C-Sec won't let me continue my investigation....fine. I'll do my OWN investigation on my OWN, and it'll be awesome! And they'll be all, 'Wow, Garrus, that was great. Wanna come back to C-Sec?' And I'll be all, 'No way. Shepard and I are in a club now and we don't want your stupid bureaucratic C-Sec.'"

This. I usually (like 90% of the time) have Kaidan and Garrus with me at the end of ME1. Kaidan, in the first slot, always says to save the Council, Garrus, in the second slot, always says to let them go. Both are always Paragonned.
