I finished Awakening! :D Thanks again to Mariquis for the advice. It worked really well! That final battle must have taken around 40 minutes... a really sudden improvement from only lasting a few seconds.

...You know, Mass Effect would be a lot less dramatic if everyone talked like that. It would still be funny though.

Shepard: "With poorly hidden rage: Nobody stabs me in the back, Udina. Nobody."

Jacob: "Dripping insincere sleaziness: But the priiize."

Shepard: "With a strange combination of menace and confusion: Are you implying that there is a priiize in betraying me? Seriously: There is not."

Actually, I think some Shepards could still pull off being intimidating as elcor. xD

If Garrus had the choice to hand Shepard's body over to Cerberus or not, I have no idea what he would do. I would like to think that it would be different depending on the Shepard, similar to the way Shepard can tell Liara that what she did was right or wrong. My main Shepard told Liara she did the right thing, but she doesn't mind working with Cerberus as long as they help her fight the Reapers. She ended up on their side in the end.

I have too many Shepards to list them all, but here are a few Garrus-related facts about two of my Shepards:

Kim Shepard - This is the one I call Shepard #2, my main Shepard, second playthrough after the one with my "experiment" Shepard, and I named my account here on the forums after this Shepard. Colonist/War Hero/Sentinel/Paragade. She's the one who romanced Garrus - she always liked turians, which I imagine would have started with the first turian she saw as a kid.

Shepard #7 - Earthborn/Ruthless/Vanguard/Renegon. There's actually a running joke among the crew that his name is only Commander Shepard. Considering his past on Earth, he never thought Garrus (an former C-sec officer) would end up being a good friend of his. One of his proudest moments after his resurrection was when Garrus said he "learned from the best."

My main Shepard, Celina:
Image IPB

Colonist/Sole Survivor, Paragade, Sentinel.

Due to her past, she has a hard time getting close to people - they have a tendency to die. Then she died herself, and was brought back by an organisation she hated, which helped change her perspective. Seeing Garrus again - then almost losing him - was enough to make her realise that if she continued to keep her distance, she'd come to regret it. She wasn't unfriendly before - just very professional. Over the course of the game, she becomes closer to Garrus, and taking the relationship further feels natural to her.

If someone could be useful, she'll let them live. Otherwise, if they are in the way, she won't hesitate to kill them. If someone really pisses her off, however, she prefers to see them suffer. That's why she convinced Garrus not to kill Dr. Saleon in ME1 - he couldn't suffer if he was dead (she was pretty angry when she had to kill him instead). It's also why she let Sidonis live - he was clearly suffering, and she didn't want that suffering to end anytime soon.

Image IPB

- In ME1 she was careful of her public image, since if she messed up there might not be another human Spectre.
- She's come to view the crew of the Normandy as a family.
-She understands why Liara handed her body over to Cerberus, and is greatful - because while she hates that it's Cerberus, she understands that she is needed.
- She's still pissed off at Kaidan for Horizon.
- She didn't trust any of the Cerberus crew until after the suicide mission, since they were no longer part of Cerberus.

I'm writing a bromantic fanfiction involving Male Shepard and Garrus. All thanks to this thread, has gotten my creative energy going (which has for a long time been rather dead). I haven't written by more than 5 years so don't hate k
here's a preview

The rich green of the seal darkened and twitched, dissolving into the sterile air that hummed rhythmically of machinery. Slicing open, the door to the main battery hissed as the four compact segments glided and diverged from the dissipating emerald nucleus, sliding into the pallid flesh of the Normandy. The radiance of the Crew Quarters diffused into the comparatively darker room, and the scar stung slightly with sweeping breath of wind.

I'm probably going to end up revising every paragraph I write a million times

Cool. I know what you mean. I started writing fic because of this thread also. I wouldn't worry about the redrafting. I do that too (ask Sialater. She must regret agreeing to read my drafts since I sent her about 4 of the same bit of text! XD) They say you should just get it all out on paper and then go back and revise, but the internal editor gets in the way. lol

I'll be interested to see your finished piece. There isn't enough bromance Gar stuff out there. (there's never enough Garrus anything. Well, with the exception of the pr0n and mutant babies which require brain bleach! Image IPB)

I'm planning on a PT of ME where there is no LI (so she can be free for Garrus in ME2) but after all this 'why does she end up with Garrus' talk, I realised Kate only discovered her feelings for him because she felt so betrayed by Kaiden. Hmmm. May need to make a whole new Shepard! (I have a couple of other Sheps, but they are a bit evil, and I think Garrus would be disappoint. lol). It is possible I am overthinking this. Image IPB

I haven't actually thought very much about my own Shepard. Though, as janeym is extremely well aware I overthink of other characters in the ME universe.

kglaser wrote...

OK, what was that Flammie comment about "Garrus, but..." anyone remember the Garrus butt remark? LOL

And that shot of the underside of his foot is probably the view Harkin will have in all his nightmares!

But, Garrus. Garrus, But. Garrus' Butt.

...Did you forget that? I thought it seemed quite simple...

I look forward to reading it. Looking at your little extract, and the posts you make, I'm sure it's going to be good. I don't really have any tips for it, though...

Janey: the important part is getting it all down. The internal editor does need to hung from the neck until dead and then revived when the rough draft is done. ;)

I'm currently analyzing my Shep via fanfic. She's turning out to be far more complex than I expected.

That's a little extreme, Commander. (Can't we just put her in stasis for a while...?)

So is Flammie now: Flammie the Vally-school-girl chicken Omega deserves? Image IPB

@Soltana. That's a good lookin' Garrus. Image IPB

I'm terrible for the essay posting. Comes with being a humanties student at uni, I guess. lol

Someone put me in stasis once. Wasn't that pleasant.

To be honest, my posts aren't really essays. Just loads of one-liners.

Now that you mention it, she does have a bit of the ol' Jack in her....And mine is shrill! Maybe I'll just send her off to help Garrus with his callibrations. That oughta keep her busy for the next....FOREVER!

edit:  Did I read here that even though Garrus seems to have fewer interactions with Shep, and shorter conversations, he actually has the most dialogue in the game after Shepard, or did I imagine that? Image IPB

I think I read that here, too. Though I think it was just "seems" like the most dialogue in the game rather than confirmed, but I'm not sure.

Soltana, are you seriously like, going to hit me with that like, frying pan? Because that would like, totally hurt.

Hmm... any indication of where everybody else is placed in amount of speech, Mukora?
