Well we can always cross our fingers for that.  I need more, it's like a creepy addiction.  One I will admit that I have, and no I don't need treatment...

We have enough LIs.  I want some good wrap-ups for what we already have.  *crosses fingers*

I could not agree more.  My biggest fear is that in ME3 we'll have a bunch of new crewmembers, and tiny cameos by those we've already romanced.  I think we need to smack someone somewhere in development over the head with a big styrofoam brick that says No New Squaddies!  Seriously, we get a generic Krogan in ME2 but don't get Ash, Kaidan, or Liara? Image IPB

In regards to Ashley, Kaidan, and Liara, having them as full fledged romances in ME2 puts romances like Garrus at a disadvantange.

Do you guys think Bioware should try to squeeze in new LIs in ME3 or focus on the old ones? I obviously say focus on the old ones in a resounding clarion voice (actually my thick Texas accent probably makes resounding and clarion a little ambitious for me.) I mean if you haven't found something that floats your boat out of...heck...Kaidan, Liara, Ashley, Garrus, Thane, Jacob, Jack, Miranda, and Tali...then you just aren't gonna find something. The only person I abjectly don't like in that list is Jacob.

The only reason I can think of to make new LIs is for those stubborn people who won't play the game with an imported save and would therefore be "missing out." For those folks, I say give them some construction like Kelly to keep them entertained and otherwise, tough luck. I know that's mean, but playing ME3 with no imports is downright silly in my book. I know it's economical for Bioware to cater to that crowd but that doesn't mean I have to like it. The only other people who are missing out are probably the women who want a really good human LI, but those guys mostly seem like they would be satisfied with Kaidan. I don't know why for the life of me, but boring old Kaidan should be sufficient.

So my official vote: No new LIs for ME3. Bring back the old ones.

I agree. I'd like BW to focus on the romances we already have and give them some sort of closure. If people couldn't find anyone to their liking, then live with it. If people start playing the trilogy with the last part, then don't whine. Besides, I expect everyone to return in ME3, so I don't see a reason to create new LI's. There are enough choices in the first two games.

And Garrus addiction is a good thing. However, I do wonder how long everybody will stay active in this thread.

As I said in the Ashley thread recently... I think the main reason that ME1 LIs didn't get their shot in ME2 was to reduce the number of variables necessary for ME3. Well, that's one of the reasons anyway. I also think it had to do with the typical trilogy arc in which the hero becomes isolated from their old friends during the second act, along with the fact that, as Collider says, putting them in ME1 would put the ME2 LIs at a disadvantage.

Come ME3, they'll all be on the same playing field. Or so I expect.

Yes, which is why I am *extremely* grateful for what we did get.
Seriously...I don't even care how this is going to sound, or the fact that it's been discussed, probably myriad times:  The moment I had that conversation with Garrus and found out he was romanceable was one of my greatest gaming moments...Evar.

Nah. Saying you have an addiction to Garrus is like saying you have an addiction to oxygen. It's necessary!

Wow - between me beginning to type that 1 line and hitting send, whole new conversation! The thread has done that 'come alive right when I have to go to sleep' thing.

Damn timezones.

@Kglaser. Also one of mine. I think I literally said the word 'Squee' loundly, for an extended period of time. I was talking to him and then reach and flexibility happened, and I was all like 'Say what?'. :o

This was (because I was on PT 1, and so spent pretty much every free moment on it) only a few hours after the alarm and sorrow of thinking I'd killed him on his recruit. Oh, the rollercoaster of emotion!

Actually, it doesn't because Liara, Ashley, and Kaidan don't have much content in ME2.   At this point, all the romances have about 1 game worth of content, unless you count all the friendship stuff with Garrus and Tali, in which case they actually have the advantage.  And no hating on Grunt!  I love Grunt.  I actually like him more than Wrex.  *ducks into shadowy alcove at sight of approaching lynch mob*

I don't hate you (or Grunt).  I just don't get it.  But I'm not going to take the Garrus thread there.  Is there a Grunt support thread?  Maybe I'm missing something about him.

I'm referring to the romance content, Raga. As it is they are equal, Kaidan/Ashley/Liara all have one game, and the 6 LIs in ME2 all have one game. If Kaidan/Ashley/Liara had fully fleged romances in the ME2, then they'd have 3 romance games as opposed to 2 romance games for characters like Garrus. Unless they had Kaidan/Ashley/Liara have romances in ME1, ME2, but not ME3, in which case the Kaidan/Ashley/Liara fans would be supremely pissed off that their romance didn't carry over or conclude in the last installment of the trilogy.

I don't know, I'd like to believe that instead of putting Garrus at a disadvantage, there would be an opportunity for great writing. You are obviously going to be very grateful that he has stood by you through everything when others have not. And saying so, and being committed to this new relationship with him- well, a longstanding friendship that turned into a relationship- could be powerful.

In my opinion, i see a different garrus once you start romancing him. I mean that in a positive way, i just can't put my finger on what to call it.

He stops the calibrations loop and starts the partofmestillthinkswe'recrazy loop? :P

More (b)romance conversations BW! Please?

You have no idea how much of a relief the "partofmestillthinkswe'recrazy" loop is.

Until you realise he must have essentially blocked your night together out of his head...:?

I think once you are romancing him, the barriers come down a little. Then all the way right before O-4.

Also, the sexy voice gets sexier. It's just science.

Well, I just meant that it's a heck of a lot better than yet more calibrations.  At least it's about the romance and Shep gets to say something to him.  Of course, I very much want more dialog especially post romance scene dialog.  I've been ****ing about that very thing for quite awhile now.

As far as Garrus' looping dialogue goes... I was a bit surprised when, after he gives his turian preparations/reach and flexibility conversation, if femshep simply chooses the "goodbye" option ("Thanks for the talk, Garrus") then he gets a new looping conversation next time she talks to him.  I don't remember exactly what it was, but he was basically saying that he was trying to relieve stress doing various tasks...and it leads right back into the turian preparations/reach and flexibility convo.  Image IPB

This.  I like it.

And collider, I'd be seriously PO'd as well if I were a Kaidan, Ash, or Liara fan and those things weren't handled well in ME3.  Like I've said more than once before...I don't envy the BioWare staff.  One bit.

In my experience, as the old ones go out the fresh ones come in.  I think this thread will be around in some form or another for quite awhile.

I hope that the romances you have in me3 will become fully fledged. Garrus, thane, tali, and hell even jacob have a lot of potential.

I HAVE to try this!

Thanks.

Edit: this would also suggest that he is more keen to get it on with Shep than first implied. Maybe a problem solver for those FemSheps who like to be pursued?

Edit edit. Spelling fail.

Plus if we're going with the theory that Bioware actually pays attention to what people say in these threads then any given thread only needs to exist long enough to convince Bioware to put *insert content* here in the game. Once they are committed to development, it gets much harder to change things. Now is the time to beg for more Garrus. Not in a year or 6 months before ME3 comes out. By then, they probably have a pretty good idea of what they are and aren't putting in the game.

Keep mini-Jacob out of here! :P

I've been having a lot of fun here, too. I'm happy I thought about checking out the BW forums to see if there were other silly people who loved Garrus as much as I do. SURPRISE! There are tons of silly Garruslovers out there! I never expected him to be that popular, to be honest. I love this thread a lot and it's one of the most fun places on the internet for me. But 2 years of waiting before ME3 comes out is loooong... And I have no idea what I'll do once the ME3 spoilers start leaking.

Anyway, no matter what happens, I'm sure we'll see each other on the 'other side'... Garrus Love and Adoration on the ME3 forums :P. Because our love of Garrus and alcohol will never die!

I know this more off-topic than I think it is, but if you could think of two songs that would go with the paramour scene and maybe a secondary SM love scene what would it be??? Just asking I'm making soundtracks to my true love...
