WRT turian attractiveness: That would be great in ME3 if we heard some NPC background dialogue discussing what's considered attractive between turians (perhaps you only get it if you are romancing Garrus), and it includes some of Garrus's features, like silver/grey skin, or blue eyes, etc., without coming right out and saying to the player "Garrus is an attractive turian." I also still love the idea of Garrus asking Joker (or whoever) whether Shepard is considered attractuve by human standards....aww....guess that would be kind of hard to do without Shep being present. Unless she walks in on the convo or something...I can see Garrus looking "caught" and stammering his way out of the room ^_^

Most turians have the silver/gray plating on their faces.  But the skin that you can see on his neck is a sort of Mordin-tan (we can assume this is true for any of the rest of him that is not covered over by scales or plates), and we know that Mordin is apparently considered attractive by some turians due to his skin tone.

I think we're unlikely to see such a scene, of course, unless it actually comes up in a conversation during an ME3 romance (or as an easter egg in a DLC).  And I have my doubts that Garrus will even play a big enough role in ME3 to merit the mention.  Alas.

Not to be picky (and yes by saying that I am being picky...:pinched:), but if you look at stephi's turian face database, for example, there are many turians who don't have silver or grey faces.  Better-known examples being the Turian Councillor, Nihlus, Lorik Qui'in, and Executor Pallin.  Lots of random NPCs too.   Although some of the warm-toned turians will have white or light paint on their faces (the four I mentioned do).  Would be interesting to know if the paint colors they choose are related to what's attractive or not, as well.  Like when humans dye their hair.  Like, is the colony insignia just about shape, or does the paint have to be a certain color too?

I was just thinking about this, since you brought up Mordin, and it occurs to me that we only have Mordin's word for it that he's a sex-magnet to other species. Maybe his conversation with Shepard isn't the first time he's misinterpreted someone's interest in him. Or, since he's so smart, and so focused on his work, perhaps he's just figured out a foolproof way to get people to stop coming into his lab and pestering him when he's trying to work (it definitely worked on my Shepard).

Or, since he seems to have a remarkably large store of "instructional" vids, pamphlets, lotions, and oils for a wide range of species, maybe Mordin's a bit of a secret perv. Honestly, why does he have all that stuff? His primary job is research, after all. Did he bring a giant box full of sex vids and marital aids with him onto the Normandy when he left Omega?

They are tattoos, not paint, I think.  You can still see bits of the tattoo on the blasted side of Garrus's face.  Or I could be wrong, since Shepard does mention face paint.

But yeah, my point was that while Garrus might have a silver/grey face, the rest of him appears to be the same sort of tan as Mordin (if you believe that color isn't just on his neck--and I see no reason to believe that it would be, though I wouldn't want to strip him naked to find out, either).  I believe Nihlus and the Councilor both had artificially made their faces a darker brown color; it looks like part of the design of their colony tattoo.  And yes, some turians are a darker grey, or a lighter grey, but most seem to have grey necks as well.  Maybe Garrus is just a strange two-toned turian.  I'll start calling him a bay dun turian.  Hey, works for horses.

Y'know, I'd probably be finished with my fanart if turians had less complicated clothing. I kept opening it to work on it, looking at Garrus' tunic, then running away in fear. :

Progress! ... Well, not a lot.

Oh...my god. That's amazing.

I'd be amused if turian fringes were like peacock tails, only the women had prettier ones. And of course, the hair thing depends on your culture. There have been and still are many cultures where men must prettify themselves. I'm doubtful that ME is one of the games that goes as far as to take from such cultures simply because of its attempt to be appealing in to the mainstream (not a negative comment; just pointing out that most players would be put off, just as with the choice to put away gay romances), but it's possible.

Don't know if this has been discussed before but it kinda bugged me ... When you take Garrus with you on Omega for the first time after his recruitment, EDI tells you that the mercs believe that Archangel has been killed. I was like "Really, Bioware?!" That's lazy writing. I would've wanted a bit more believable explanation why we can take Garrus with us and are not immediately attacked by random mercs. Or maybe even a mission where you have to take care of this problem and fake his death.

What do you think?

The three toughest mercenary groups on Omega got together and didn't take down Archangel for days.  He shot down a gunship twice.  He killed the leaders of all three groups banding together against him.

Who in their right minds is going to go after him now, when he has backup again?

(Yes, I know that was all the player, but that's not how they'll tell the story on Omega.  On Omega, it will all be about how badass Archangel is.)

I think it's more that he probably can't take it off than anything else.  It appears to be plugged into the back of his skull like a biotic amp is on an adept.  I guess he can unplug it, but the gaping hole it would leave probably wouldn't be particularly safe.

It's just part of him now IMO. Taking it off would be like taking away a part of Garrus. Yes it is also removable, in ME1 if you used light armor and equipped Garrus his helmet then he wouldn't have his visor on.

That's... kind of terrifying...:(
I always thought he never took it off because he knows how badass it makes him look. I could be wrong but... it just seems like a very strange concept

Well, it would be a socket of some kind, but seriously--either he's got it strapped on with a suction cup, or it really is plugged straight into his brain.  Look at the back of Garrus's head sometime.

In other news, does anyone know how to put a custom avatar pic up?  Because I see no options to do that and I'd like to use my own Shepard.

Either that or uses it to see under female turians' clothing.

Or it could display Mordin's diagrams when he is ... sparring with Shepard.

Yeah, earlier in the thread (or maybe it wasn't even in this one?) people were arguing over whether that female turian was his only other romantic encounter, but I highly doubt that.  People always say she and Shep are the only two because he's never mentioned others, and because "focuses on his work."  The fact that he's never mentioned others doesn't really suffice as evidence for me.  You can read between lines a little bit without destroying canon if you do it right.  Shepard hasn't talked about her past loves either, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't a virgin before Kaiden, lol.

She could be. She's had a very eventful life, doesn't leave a lot of room for romance. I like it being vague, actually, that way you can imagine whatever suits how you imagine Shepard (and Garrus) to be.

I'm just glad Garrus doesn't have any emotional baggage the way some LIs do, regarding relationships (Kaidan with Rahna, Thane with Irikah, Carth and Sky with their dead wives).

Now that's an awkward thought.  Shepard's first time being with Garrus, who isn't even her own species.  Somehow, I have my doubts that would be Garrus's hoped-for "night to treasure."

Just saying, it's possible.

I imagine it would be awkward the first time they were together regardless, given they're potentially throwing everything they know out about the opposite sex out the window depending on just how alien they are to each other...

I like to think Shepard, at least, watched the vids--even if we didn't get to make her do so.  That whole face-snuggle thing is probably culturally turian, so she had to know to do that from somewhere.  Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.  Shepard will take half the time trying to figure out how to get Garrus undressed, and the rest of the time will be spent figuring out what goes where.

I leave this thread for a few hours and it turns into "Shepard: the 30-something year old Virgin."

Hey guys, I am currently writing a fanfiction of my female Shepard, who's love interest happens to be Garrus. The story revolves around Shepard's desperation to search and rescue a soldier she fought with on Elysium and though she tried to go alone, Garrus caught on and followed. There are currently 4 chapters and more to come. I would greatly appreciate some feedback, if you wouldn't mind.

Thanks in advance!

Ooh~ this looks interesting. I will have to read it when I get some time. Though...I I have yet to finish such an easy read as Mock Effect.

By the beard...what if he is blind in that eye? Maybe that's why you don't see anyone with glasses in Mass Effect. Instead, they have to wear scouters.

But...considering the little lights in the scouters and how it just keeps flashing in your eyes...it's probably counterproductive.

In fact, please dismiss this post. (but I'mma push [Submit] anyway)
