I'd like to take this time to sincerely thank Bioware for not messing up turians <3<3<3
And there was never a question that brutes suck... It's kind of a given... They're not even a challenging foe...
And I'd like to mention that thanks to Garrus, every time I say or think about Halo "Reach" I keep giggling like an idiot... My maturity level is at an all time low... XD

....I wonder how difficult it is to use a controller with three fingers? Most modern stuff (that isn't a joystick) uses only thumb and forefinger, but I wonder what the alien gaming scene is like. I can imagine Garrus just staring at an N64 controller and going "I can't calibrate this."
Then again, that's most regular people's reaction to an N64 controller. Pfft, casuals can't appreciate the greatest controller ever.

I could see some virtual reality stuff. Anyway, you get a picture of the alien gaming scene from that game salesman on the Citadel, near where Dark Star is. Although a lot of what he says is basically gamer humor.enormousmoonboots wrote...

The 64 controller wasn't great for shooters. Thankfully Perfect Dark was rereleased on Xbox live arcade, great game. Then again, that's most regular people's reaction to an N64 controller. Pfft, casuals can't appreciate the greatest controller ever.

I think Mass Effect's ruined a lot of words for me, actually.
I guess turians would have less buttons for their controllers. Which may mean more skill/programming/calibrating would be needed to work with less buttons.
I was a bit thrown from the N64 controller, but I got used to it quickly.
I don't actually like shooters that much, but for some reason I really like ME2.
...I did say that my posts aren't walls, but loads of one liners ¬v¬

All I know about Halo is that some truly radical dudes were playing Halo 2 for something like two weeks straight after Microsoft ditched the old Xbox servers in April. Not turning off their Xboxes allowed them to stay in the server, and people just kept playing until the consoles overheated. Last I checked a few days ago, there were still like seven people still going. I don't like the shooter genre in general, and I know Halo is inadvertently responsible for a lot of distasteful elements in modern gaming ('Halo kiddies' alone...), but...I respect those people.

Yeah, I don't like the little kiddies either... But what's worse is the numerous ignorant and vulgar players you come across online... Especially if you're a girl... But you're always going to have to face jerks... That's why you learn to kick butt and make them cry
As for the controller, I only use three fingers... So Garrus could in fact play Halo...

I liked Halo up until Halo 3, the campaign mode was disappointing (24 hr on legendary, wat?) and the elites became real fugly. But my motion sickness kinda worsened since then, so I rarely play shooter games. ME1/2 are okay, but I get migraines when I storm, but it's all cool.

Haha, naw. Just a retarded brain unable to perceive motion. Wish I had implants of some sort to fix that. Not so fun when you go hanging out in a theme park like six flags.Somebody1003 wrote...

Anyways, Garrus.
That reminds me that I need to find that sound byte about his callibrations so I can put it in my cell phone. :|

I can only imagine how annoying it may be to hear those kids and doofuses online. One day though, I think the gender gap will close and it'll be roughly equal gender wise in the gamer population.Yeah, I don't like the little kiddies either... I heard about Samara's information about Nihlus on the forums, but I haven't seen it in-game yet. Samara was the last squadmate I recruited before Legion, and by that time I didn't have many side missions left, so the only conversations my Shepard had with her were mostly about her loyalty mission. I'll look for it next time, but I'm only up to the part in ME1 where Shepard recruits Garrus, Wrex, and Tali... so that'll take a while. Maybe there's a youtube video of that conversation somewhere? I didn't know Saren trained Nihlus.kraidy1117 wrote...

I agree about Pallin and turians in general. They're my favorite alien species by far. I was interested in the turians from the minute Nihlus came on screen (the first turian I saw, aside from pictures on the ME1 box).
Well we know he was alot like Saren, as Samara gave us a little story about Nihlus. Nihlus was trained from Saren so.....
I still loved that part in the first book when Anderson and Saren have that little chat in the diner.
...Also, I liked any part of the first book that included Saren.

Anyway, it doesn't go through the whole dialogue about Nihlus. It ends at 1:05 without Shepard choosing the "Who won?" option that would tell more. I'll keep looking to see if I can find something with the rest of the conversation.
Edit: The link worked!
Edit #2: I found one with the "Who won?" dialogue. www.youtube.com/watch I can't seem to find the part that says Saren trained Nihlus, unless the Shepard in the video just didn't choose all the right options, or it was a different conversation. I'd like to know where that information comes in, if anyone remembers.

Has anyone else also had more glitches occur when running fraps? My game crashed twice, once when trying to rearrange hotkeys (so I just gave up on that), but then also just infront of the docking bay in the Lazarus station. Two mechs... froze? The game actually didn't recognize it as a combat situation once they froze and theyI actually had a 'talk' select as well (though they didn't say anything). Unfortunately when I walked up to the second one to take another screenshot they woke up (and both started shooting at me) which was kind of bad since I was playing on insanity, haha.
To keep this Garrus related, whenever I hear this song I think of Garrus (and Fshep and Garrus -- I think I just love the song!) http://youtube.ca/watch?v=5up8kJoCsJM
Edit: Apparently I fail at links. Oh well.

[BRILLIANT] WALL OF TEXT TIME.
As a side note, I really wonder why Garrus is so focused on fighting injustice/helping others/etc. Either he really just takes after his father or something serious happened to him in the past. I suppose if that were true we'd have heard of it by now, but who has time to talk about personal history when there are calibrations to be done? Or maybe I just like analyzing characters way too much.
This was a very nice wall of text. I agree with every single thing. That's what makes his romance so special. I get annoyed when people call the Garrus romance a fling, when there's so much more going on when you look into it. His comments on Septimus' situation make it clear he has never known 'love'. "What could a woman do to put you into this state?" Well, reject him him the romance scene and he knows what Septimus felt. He's always acting professional (turian much?), but the romance really shows the other side of him, and pretty much forces him to focus on something else than injustice for once. Relax, Garrus. Injustice sucks, but there are still beautiful things in life. Romancing Garrus is pretty much natural cognitive behavioral therapy. Balance 'negative' things to do (CALIBRATIONS, saving the galaxy) with 'positive' things to do (focus on something more pleasant, like the romance) and change automatic thoughts ("If I do something, it will go wrong"). Heh. Why am I applying my study to Garrus on my day off?
The part from your wall o' text I didn't snip is something I'm curious about too. I don't know if BW really thought about that. Garrus tells you he doesn't consider himself a good turian, but the fighting injustice/helping others is pretty much a turian thing. "Turians are noted for their strong sense of public service. It is rare to find one who puts his needs ahead of the group", the Wiki says. I think Garrus is more of a turian than he thinks, maybe he just doesn't realize it. As for why he's so driven to do what he does... maybe it's just hard to break away from turian culture? Or maybe his dad fueled this need to do the 'right' thing? Maybe Papa Vakarian was a role model to him when he was younger and he wanted to follow his footsteps? Maybe something happened to his mother that had something to do with injustice? I have no idea. I don't think we'll ever know, unless BW decides to give us more insight in his history. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE.
@ Mariquis: I know I promised you to upload the soundfiles on Sunday or yesterday, sorry. Tonight or tomorrow is more likely

Wall of texts are alright. They bring a lot of interesting points, analysis and thoughts. I do swarms of one-liners, but eh. Paragraphs are pretty uncommon for me.
I hear a lot about online kiddies and jerks. I haven't played online recently, or even with voice chat, so I don't know what it's like.
