Well, I didn't have him on the ship in my fic. I decided he'd stayed, trying to get through his Spectre application and training as quickly as possible so he could rejoin Shep.

And then, well... stuff happened.

@Collider: Those jumping geth really surprised me at first, and then they were kind of annoying until my aiming improved. I think Garrus and Wrex killed most of them on my first playthrough while my Shepard  just stood there shooting like a madman. xD

Those jumping geth elements were what made the final boss fight with Saren tricky at higher difficulty levels.  I could handle his attacks, but @#$% you, stay still dammit!!  I would hit him with something and he would have jumped 2 other places by the time it got there.

I'm not sure if this works on higher difficulty levels, but if I just keep Shepard behind those pillars towards the back of the room, Saren never jumps back there. xD It made the end battle really easy for me. (Poor MainShep was still upset about Saren shooting himself in the head though, so fighting his re-animated geth body would have been hard for her emotionally. I imagine she has to lie and say that she was sad about so many humans sacrificing their lives. MaleShep's reaction was more "Oh, ****! Now we've gotta kill him again!")

@Soltana. I think that (as Collider said) he was on the Normandy when it got hit. I think everyone except Wrex was (Joker "We were your crew.", combined with Wrex's "How's the Normandy?")

As to the Wrex conversation when he asks a bunch of questions you'd think he would know about, I also thought he didn't know Shepard was dead on the first PT. The second time, though, he says "You look good for dead." when he meets you, so clearly he's just confused. lol I think he must have heard Shepard died, but someone neglected to mention that she took the ship with her. XD

@ Cerrydd. Man, Jacob does not take rejection well. But chicks do dig men with scars. lol

Walls of text are nice and all, but they're not the most swallow-able thing... especially in the morning rush before school and lunch break. And then I'd have forgotten about them when I actually have a more leisurely time...

Then I recommend reading one sentence at a time, and posting every time a thought enters your chicken head.  Works like a charm for me, and has the side benefit of irking you. ;)
j/k you know I likes ya (mmm chicken yummy) :P

Nah, I don't really feel like that. Besides, the world would probably end if I end up deciding to listen to you. Or something like that.

So I went a little against the grain with the Garrus LM and romance, but I loved how the result felt. In ME1 June was really paragon, and actually butted heads with Garrus a lot since it was clear he was chaffing to go all renegade. She talked him out of killing Saleon, rebuked him for killing the guy that grabbed Dr. Michel, etc. She was the master, and he was the student.

Cut to ME2, and what a difference 2 years make. It's clear now to the player that he's a peer, not a student. It took until the Loyalty Mission for that to hit home for June. At first I was a little bummed, feeling like this had been done before with Saleon. But what I loved was this time you get to talk to Garrus about it *before* the climax. He lays it out, and this time instead of June pulling him towards paragon he jerked her towards renegade. He wasn't going to be influenced, he was a grown man and had made his choice. So she stepped aside and became complicit in murder, and realized there was probably only one man in the galaxy she'd do that for.

So it seemed entirely appropriate for the romance to start immediately after the LM. She was a little more tarnished, he was a lot more assured, and they were meeting on equal ground for the first time ever. I really appreciated how that worked out, and its been awfully tough saving Sidonus on any other playthrough since then.

I nominate this wall-o-text for the WOT awards along with MarginalBeast's entry from about 20 pages ago.  Great post!! :wizard:

As for songs that fit the characters, my Shepards and their crew are
slowly getting a soundtrack. It's amazing how many songs I've listened
to for a long time, and now they suddenly just seem right for the ME
crew. (And others that are just plain amusing. Like that Mulan song,
ever since someone posted it many, many pages back.)
The song itself is not appropriate at all, IMO, but this part of the David Cook song "Avalanche" completely made me think of the Garrus romance when I was listening to it the other day:

These scars we wear remind us
The more we change the more we're all the same
Swept up in this emotion
We've fumbled through and made the same mistakes

Pretty song BTW :)

He says the exact same thing to manShep, but yeah, most of us like to
see that as flirty Garrus. The way he says it is just cuuuute.

The way he says *everything* is just cuuuute.  But yeah, I love, LOVE that dialogue. <3
Interesting. Do you mean he would risk someone else's life (in this
case Shepard) for taking out Sidonis? He did it once in ME1 when he's
shooting that man who captured Dr. Michel, I don't know if he would do
it again. In ME1 during that scene he was calm, but during the LM he's
totally frustrated and angry. I don't know if he'd risk it.
I didn't feel for a second that Garrus would miss that shot on the Citadel.  He was so in control, you could just tell  he was completely confident he'd get that shot.  (Of course, it's possible that he'd miss, if the guy moves unexpectedly or something, but fortunately, that didn't happen and I was able to suspend disbelief. hehe)

The volcano has killed my plane again. This time I made it all the way to the airport. If Garrus were here, he'd fix it! (can you calibrate a volcano? If anyone can, Garrus can.

WB, janey!  Sorry your flight was cancelled again and you had to go all the way to the airport to learn that. :(
On the other hand, your loss is this thread's gain!

That entirly depends on how neurotic you are to begin with. lol. I've
been there, and overthought it, and been awkward for much longer than
necessery with one of my best friends in the world. I would trust my
life to this man, yet the sex thing made me go 'whut?' and run away.
Sometime when the thing you have before is so good, you are terrified
of changing it in case it fails to live up to what it used to be.

I see your point...My situation with this kind of thing was different.  I was not EXTREMELY close friends with this person, but I did see and interact with him every day for about six months to a year before the physical stuff  manifested into the relationship.  In my case, the sex thing made me go ":O:O:O" LOL (at least until the whole thing crashed and burned, but to paraphrase Tali, it was totally worth it, dude ;))

This is almost how mine played out with my mainShep. I actually think that Garrus seems more settled when you let Sidonus explain himself, then step aside anyway. When he takes the shot immediatly, or gets talked out of it, he seems more frustrated. I have this conversation in my head:

Garrus: If you had asked me not to kill him, I wouldn't have.
FemShep: I know. That's why I didn't ask.

Let him make his own choices and learn from them. (My current playthrough is pure paragon tho, so I'm letting that ******* live.)

There are a good few awesome parents on this thread. Kudos to them! XD

If I ever reproduce (and god-willing, I won't: it would probably be a bad idea for all the universe), I am sitting them them down and explaining gaming to thme as soon as they are old enough. Aand the importance of not making lame game/movie choices. And that being BAMF will get them far in life.

Side thought: I can't imagine Garrus with kids. I know we've had this discussion before about 400 pages ago, but I really, really can't. I think he'd just cough and have awkward silences with them. He'd need kglaser to show him how it's done!

@Cerrydd. I'm stealing that and putting it my work diary. :D

No indoctrination is necessary, anybody who doesn't think Garrus is awesome clearly is not thinking clearly.

Garrus' kids...Ya, I see them being just like him eventually. Then one day he would have the 'reach and flexibility' talk with them (instead of 'birds and bees')

Garrus indoctrination of the young FTW! My own little one, not yet two is making great strides in pronouncing "Garrus." So far we've got "GUY-OOOO!!" He screams it everytime with such vehement enthusiasm. I have no idea where he learned that. Image IPB

Oh jeez....Mentioning Garrus' kids only brings to mind mutant babies. *hides from Eradyn*

Yeah, I'd rather have some computer junkies as kids than those who hang around on the streets causing trouble. Luckily, my BF thinks the same way, so I'll be indoctrinating them with gaming as soon as possible. I grew up playing games and I am AWESOME. /narcissism

Garrus would indoctrinate kids that sniper rifles are the best thing in the world. XD

Oh, and I also found this on Deviant Art:
