Anyway, I just read an article about women with high-pitched voices tend to fall for (deep-voiced) manly men. So, who are the girls here with a high-pitched voice?

High pitched voices? I must be weird then since I'm an alto and I prefer lower voices.Cerrydd wrote...
Yeah, I know there are people out there who consider the Garrus romance a 'fling'. They obviously haven't paid enough attention to the build up and the romance scene.

Not me, I'm borderline alto/tenor (my sister actually SANG Tenor in her high school choir and we're indistinguishable vocally). My husband's voice is pretty deep.

[I've never thought any of them were flings. Not even Jacob.
That being said, I have no doubt that the Garrus romance is more than just a fling. You don't get this adorably flustered over a fling, especially if you have previous experience with casual sex. You don't offer the other person a way out of a one-nighter. You don't say stuff like "this is about us". But there are people out there who are worried about not getting a more distinct confirmation of the sentimental side of the relationship. I'm sure the Thane-romancers have a lot less to worry about in that department. From what I've heard, his romance is serious the whole way through (and incredibly depressing).
However, there are also people who find that the "non-human fetish" comment means that there’s very little physical attraction involved. I was curious to hear it in context, and that's not what it sounds like to me. It's brought up after the "closer to home" part, IIRC: . I don’t think that, deep down inside, he’s going “ewwww, squishy bits! must think about hot turian chicks!”; more like “hmm…squishy bits…maybe I actually like squishy bits? I wonder why? Wargl! Confused! Cue awkward metaphors and cheesy music!” A similar reasoning applies to Shep, without the "wargl!" part
@ AngryP1xel: That was a lovely statement there.
One thing we've discussed here a few times is how it does seem awfully forward, the way the romance starts out, but in the end it makes sense because a) they're friends and he's emotionally oblivious, Shep needs to be clear about what she's after and
As for the biological bit, I love the "I don't have a human fetish I SWEAR" line, because it's subtly saying "It's OK if it's you." I wrote a fic where Garrus is mentally worrying about not feeling physically attracted to her for just that reason- biologically and naturally it's his own species' females he's attracted to. But in the end, it's the psychological desire (dare we say the L word?) that brings him about.

.......Okay. It was my first fanfic EVER, and I've been thinking very seriously about redoing it entirely. YOu know, perfecting the art of my Garrus love and all that. But here it is (and it is rated M for " Man, if you're not into adult situations and xenophilia do NOT click this link!!")

There's nothing wrong with it. I'd only suggest you fix a few rough transitions. But other than that, I liked it! And I marked you as a fave author.

@ Sia Later: Interesting take on things. I wouldn't have imagined Shep considering suicide, but it works in context. And your description of Jacob =
I'm currently drafting ideas for my own fic, but it's going to take a while before I deem it worthy to see the light of day. Or the light of the Internet, I guess.
@ AngryP1xel: Lol..."wargl" is just an expression of panic. I tend to think of strange onomatopoeias.
Concerning voices, Garrus' one is definitely "mrrrrrrrrr" worthy. Dunno that my voice is particularly high-pitched though. It's loud, but that's about it.

And your description of Jacob =I just have a bit of a problem with the pacing: it feels slightly rushed. It might have worked even better if you'd made it into a longer piece (a couple of chapters maybe) and fleshed out Shep's reactions. Her waking up, her reactions to Jacob and Miranda...all that would deserve more screentime. Either that, or only focus on the Omega excursion itself and condense the whole thing. Just my opinion though.
It's actually just one in a series. The rest of them are on there on the main page.
As far as rushing, I was trying to capture Meghan's indifference to current events and the fact that until I get Garrus, I don't actually care about ME2.

And yes, Stephi needs to hurry.

I'm not like some fic writers where it comes naturally. I have to wring my muse's neck before he throws up anything. (Plus been studying... which is weird... having not had to do it in years.)
So I should have something to show soon.
Honest.
In the mean time...

I always thought that was the soprano/bass complex (was a soprano in HS XD Bass guys get me all hot an' bothered. Tenors are goofs.)
And my voice can probably be put in the mid to high range, but the decible volume can vary between conversational to ear blasting in 2.5 seconds flat. -.-
As for the appeal of Keener's voice for Garrus... he just sounds like a sexy man. Even without the flange effect. I don't consider his voice all that deep either. It's a bit nasal sometimes. I think it's the rumbles though. He's got that natural rumble to his voice.

Curious. Apparently I used to have a very high pitched voice (and abused it) when I was young, but it's broken quite a bit, now.
No idea about the different name ranges, though (I mean tenor, alto, etc...)

Base, baritone, tenor, alto, soprano. I feel like I'm missing one, but I can't for the life think of which one it is.
