According to the artbook, the designs for Saren were actually the very first of turians. Saren was intentionally designed to look intimidating and villainous, the art team designed turians after they settled on Saren. Of course they toned down the evil look but kept many features to support Saren's appearance.
Is that the artbook that came with the collector's edition? How is that? I should probably buy it sometime.

This thread is moving very quickly in the last hour or so. Like it.
It's seen a mass influx of Tali fans (myself included) who are too tired to try and keep up with / control the content of the Tali thread. This is about the speed we move at during our best (quality-wise, not quantity-wise) hours.

Reposted for sheer aesthetic value. I think I like turian bodies more than human ones.

See that? The arrow points to the handle IN WHICH I GRAB TO PULL THAT SEXY BEAST TO ME.

Its like a mini shield... er something.

Indeed.
I like to call this "cruising speed".

I never noticed that weird little think on his armor before. I wonder what it's function is. Besides letting silentsephil have her way with Nihlus of course.

They really need to release one for Mass Effect 2, the one that came with the CE was very abbreviated.

Really now? Hrm. I need to get my paws on this art book. So much awesome I'm missing.
Turians are probably one of my favorite races out there right now. They look alien yet not in a lot of ways. I love the wasp waist, the plating, the flairing mandibles that look so cute whent hey laugh or smile.
So much cooler than rubber headed aliens.

Nivenus approves (+20).
This, plus the Codex, would be awesome.

Their neck things seem like a pain to deal with. I don't know if they were put there just for aesthetic value or if there's some sort of biological precedence to them.
The fringe seems like it would be uncomfortable.

Some of the designs for the turians looked pretty strange, some of them even had faces that reminded me that of oriental dragons. Those were designs for Saren...silentstephi wrote...

That's something I'd like to know too. The way their armor is designed kind of reminds me of a turtle, and I know they have the back and front plating, but I wonder if it's just the biology underneath that it's there to support/hide from radiation... and why they're more comfortable in their armor (though I can't remember if this is a codec or fan thought... something about temperature and armor just being more comfortable.)Ray Joel Oh wrote...

I've seen a few of the ME1 armors that have that little handle (which made it all the more difficult to NOT want to tug on Garrus's when he was in said armor) but I just noticed that armor has some interesting tubbing too.

OT, but WTH is up with Mordin's armor? He has a little handle on the front like that. /confused
Can't be "sexy beast-related" so...why?

I don't think it's sharp. It's made of cartilage so it's probably even somewhat (not very) flexible.

That's like trying to twist your nose to the side!
Not fun!
