I believe I heard that it happens regardless of whether you romance them or not. I'd try putting Garrus in the first spot and putting Grunt in the second, and then testing the advertisement on the Dark Star level.

I redid it a few times to get that shot; you know the kiosk location? Well, I made sure to have done absolutely no romancing of anyone, took Garrus with me on *very first* Citadel visit and it worked. Have to click through a cycle of adverts to get that one.

The one I had to work to make happen was this:

Edit: What's odd is I've never had a problem getting her to say that to me!

no, you could get it with any potential LI in your party.

Actually Samara is mentioned, too. I have yet to try Kasumi, but I doubt she gets a mention.

I got it the first PT but then not on the second, so then the work involved backtracking to get it to repeat. I just thought it always happened until it never repeated on PT 2. It did, on this Pt (3); you know, the one where I am supposed to *stay faithful* to Kaidan?? Well, Kelly said that and faithfulness went out the window.

What Ray was talking about makes me really want to see videos of characters recruiting themselves and gaining their own loyalty. Play as Garrus while doing Garrus' loyalty mission, and have Garrus stop Garrus from shooting Harkin. Or romance Garrus as Garrus.

With Garrus, you could almost write that off as the two different sided of him fighting...If you're playing Paragon, of course.
