I was in the Tali thread and read these posts...made me think about how much Garrus really cares about Shepard.

Landline wrote...
I've been thinking about all of the romance options and I realized that there is one thing that sets both the Garrus and the Tali romance apart from all of the rest.

They both desperately want the relationship to work and go out of their way to try to make everything as perfect as possible, no one else really does that.

RiptideX1090 wrote...
Tali, and Garrus are the least physically compatable with Shepard, if they want it to work, they're going to have to really work for it. Not to mention how crushing it would be to either one of them if Shepard turned them down. Garrus is already barely hanging by a thread, and Tali's been through enough **** in recent days to leave her feeling a little emotionally unbalanced. Losing the one good thing you have left would suck.

--

Like Garrus said, he wants something to go right for once. He goes through all this effort so the relationship is perfect. I also felt that "hanging by a thread" was so true. He was devastated by his team being killed - imagine ~10 of your friends all being killed. All the while Garrus is blaming himself when he doesn't need to. That's why the rejection scene is so painful to watch for me - this guy has been through so much **** and tried his best for Shepard, but then it doesn't end up worked out. And Shepard's really the best thing Garrus has left at this point. Too painful to see a bro go through that!

You would have to have no soul to reject garrus, even if your not that big of a fan. I also heard that rejecting thane or jack is depressing too.

I've seen them all, Thane's rejection isn't that bad imo. Rejecting Jack, Garrus and Tali is the worst you can do.

Yea Thane's isn't that bad. In fact he has the best rejection scene, and you get the sense that the romance could still continue, because all femShep basically says is that Thane is just worked up. Jacob gets pissed off (wow), I have no idea what Miranda does. But like Cerry said, Jack, Garrus and Tali are devastated if you reject them.

Actually, after rejecting Thane for Garrus, I literally lay awake in bed for 1 hour, feeling like s***.  That awkward silence after I told him I couldn't love a dying man or whatever made my stomach sink to my knees.  I felt bad. :(
(but not bad enough to reject him for Garrus...give me a break, that's my dream come true! LOL)

Oh I mean rejecting Thane in the romance scene pre-suicide mission (the one where Thane kisses femshep if you accept him)

It seems like Thane's rejection is more of a miscommunication. He's rambling about trying to leave the galaxy better than he found it, and then femShep says it's just nerves for the suicide mission. You get the feeling the romance is still there, but they'll do it another time.

Jack, Garrus and Tali get a big NO! and that's a really sad thing for all three of them.

Yea for Garrus and Tali (haven't seen Jack, but probably about the same) saying no pretty much ends the romance, it seems, because if it isn't going to work out just before a sucide mission (quite possibly as far as any squad mate knows the last chance to be intimate), it isn't going to work ever.

Hello everyone. *waves*

I was just doing Garrus' recruitment mission again a couple of hours ago. I thought it was really cool and impressive how much emotion they were able to put into Garrus' eyes when he gets wounded. After all, it's hard to convey emotion on a non-human face.

Garrus in his loyalty mission with Harkin is one of the best scenes in the game IMO.

Jack's rejection is cruel. She comes up, totally emotional, and then Shepard tells her that fixing her is not his job...

I agree, there are a lot of scenes I love in this game. I knew I should stop Garrus at some point from killing Harkin but he sooooo deserved it.

Harkin wasn't killed, he was shot in the leg. But I've never stopped Garrus from doing it. Hopefully that'll teach Harkin not to be a slimy criminal.

Ohhh, even more so if you replay ME1...that drunk Harkin hitting on femShep is so freaking gross...
I yelled at the TV, "YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE IS BAD FOR BUSINESS?  A BROKEN NECK!!" :P
oh sure he didn't have a clue what I meant, but it made me smile.  LOL!

I always do the paragon interrupt and let Garrus headbutt Harkin. "I didn't shoot him." Oh Garrus, you so funny ^^

Thank you Captain Obvious. I meant from a non-metagaming perspective. Shepard doesn't know that.

I always liked the headbutt better for some reason.

As for favorite scenes, I prefer the Garrus recruitment. I always have a save right before Shepherd walks in and goes "Archangel?" I can't give a specific reason why that's my favorite scene...it just is.
