Eh, I don't want to think it's laziness. They did an awesome enough job as it is just getting all the lighting and shadows to look a million times better in the 2 than 1. (Plus, those effects looks so much better than what was in DAO and DAOA)



Didn't really notice THAT until I went back to play DAO after months of ME. Very big difference!

Though getting back to the fingers thing, still makes me wonder if object manipulations are easier as 3 fingers or maybe harder? Do humans, batarians and asari have an edge at fine manipulations? Maybe not, since Tali and quarians seem to be natural engineers... hrm...

This is more food for thought. ^.^

Having more fingers probably helps for more accurate manipulation. All of the other races have had thousands of years to develop more than humans, so they're more technologically advanced anyway. The Asari who have 5 fingers are the most technologically advanced out of all the races. There are likely tools that cater to 3 fingers so it may not really matter anymore.

Just something I was pondering. Hell, not even sure the Elcor even use the fingers they do have, since they look like their quadrapeds.

I don't think it would be more difficult really. If you think about it, there are very few things in life you actually need 5 fingers for. It makes some things easier, but not much requires it. With three fingers you can basically do anything a 5 finger being can: Shoot a gun, type, pick up stuff, drink from a glass, etc.

The only thing I can think of that 5 fingers would really have a super clear advantage over 3 fingers on would be typing on a keyboard. Things like tying knots might be interesting but in all likelihood such species probably tie different kinds of knots which can take advantage of them having fingers which are twice as strong, etc.


Most tools they invented would have a different design to be used with basically equal dexterity.

Five fingers are better for playing a saxophone. I guess the turians, krogans and quarians would be limited to instruments like drums if applying for a job in a orchestra. Nothing wrong with drums of course.

The saxophone, that is probably the one thing they can't play.

By the way, saxophone=best instrument.

Now that you mention it you might have a point there. I am looking forward to see a turian playing sax in future ME games. Oh yeah, human lips might be necesary too.

Drums are better but yes sax is definitely among the best instruments.

I noticed.  I just stated playing DAO today.  I was surprised that my character doesn't have spoken lines everywhere like in ME; also, that the graphics aren't as good.  I guess I have been spoiled by ME's gorgeousness and, um...lini-ness(?). LOL
/disclaimer:  I don't judge a game solely on appearance and some of my favorite games are either 20 years old or even interactive fiction, so not trying to diss DAO especially since I just started playing it.  Just a first impression.
