I know we have at least one Mirimancer and at least one Kaidanite who post here. Also we obviously have several Talimancers posting here. I don't know if we have any Liaramancers who have posted here though.

Alot of Liara fans are very bitter, I lurked there threado nce and I was scared from alot of the in-fighting.

There is something kind of scary about them
As of alte I've been trying to compare the situation on these boards to history

As best as I can figure the Talimancers and Mirimancers are like the US and USSR (doesn't matter which is which)
Garrus fans come up as the UK, Liara fans are like the PRC, and the virmire survivor fans are like East and West Germany

That analogy makes about as much sense to me as willingly moving to North Korea.

That's a very good take on Garrus Ragabul, and I agree. Makes me think of how admirable Garrus is - he isn't just going to stand there while corruption taints the galaxy. So what did compel him to seek justice as much as he does? Was it the frustration of not being able to take down Dr. Saleon?

I didn't say it was a good analogy, I thought it up while I was in the shower

He does have an almost unrealistically good heart, I think...I think that's one of the reasons so many wanted him as a romance.  I mean, that's everyone's dream at heart--kind, cares about what's important, can't stand to see innocents hurt.  I saw some of that in Carth too and that's why his romance hooked me as well.

Another important thing to note is that while Garrus has a good heart, he isn't the boring Paladin archetype at all. He's willing to go the extra mile to take down the unjust, sometimes that means bending the rules. Garrus gives respect where respect is due - he respects Shepard for example. But he does not respect criminals, he thinks they are scum whether of being put down. That is why in part why the Garrus character is interesting to me. He's the Batman and in a smaller way Punisher - a vigilante and rebel with good motives and heart.

What I really like about Garrus is he's a different take on the vigilante in that he's aware that even if you're killing a criminal or a traitor or some kidn of scumbag who really deserves it, it's still murder. And that bothers him. He wants the world to be black and white so he can protect good by stomping out evil, but it isn't , and that is the only thing that ever gives him pause. It's something I can really respect.

Yea, we do less fighting than anybody.  I like to think it's because very few people actually really dislike Garrus so we don't have to defend him all that much.  If you feel cornered and threatened, you tend to get nasty in my experience not that that justifies namecalling or anything, but I can kind of understand it.

Oh, and we are all awesome.  There's that too.

I don't think he weant to far with the military, same goes with C-SEC. Like he tells you he thinks everything in his life is screwed up and he just wants to make something go right.

Very important distinction, Collider.  I'm glad you posted it.
And I was replaying ME1 where I talked to Executor Pallin about Spectres today, and he was saying he didn't trust them.  He said something like, when people try to get justice by doing things their own way, it changes them, and then he gave Saren as an example.  I immediately thought of Garrus on Omega (and of course I had him with me at the time, too).  He was beginning to be changed because of his desire for revenge, and Shepard had a chance to change his way of thinking.  I love how replaying the first game again gives a new perspective to things from 2. :)

Inner conflicts like that can be part of the recipe for fantastic characters. They did a good job with Garrus, and he really shines in ME2. You can feel of the weight upon him from what happened in Omega, you can feel the anger and hatred he has towards criminals. In ME1 he indicates that he does, but in ME2 you really get to see it - especially with Harkin.

No, I'm just a character junkie.  I get a kick out of analyzing the tar out of them.  I also really like to write so I tend to examine characters that catch my eye and look how they are constructed so I can emulate the techniques of their creators (or try at least).

Actually, there is a lot of garrus hate. We just don't see it on the open forums, just in their own individual fanbases. Like i said, the miranda, liara, ashley and kaidan fans kind of despise garrus. Mostly because they think hes "annoying and whiny"

Most character have something people can pick at (not my opinions btw)
Jacob is sort of boring
Miranda comes across as cold and unfeeling
Most Tali hate is directed at the fanbase
Jack is kind of psycho
But there is literally nothing bad you can say about Garrus
