That's a good question about the scar color too. I was actually thinking about that earlier, esp. the whole blue blood thing.

Well, if anything else, at least I've got a good guide for coloring Garrus' skin plating in a picture I'm working on. It's so difficult to keep Garrus colored consistently, because his face (the only bit of "skin" we ever see on him) is either a lightish tan or a grey-blue tone. So frustrating.

I think it's a light tan, because his neck is a tan color.  And if you can see it on the inside of his collar, his carapace is a very dark brown color.  It also has a hole blasted through it along with said armor.  Makes me wonder if he keeps the busted armor because it can't be removed/is basically welded on.

Welded on as in... he can't remove it at all? How would he be able to change into his civilian clothes, then?

Then again, I'm probably misunderstanding the answer. In that case, never mind. ^^;

That's true, I didn't remember that.  'Cause if you romance him, he does switch to clothes instead of armor.

Incidentally, how on earth would turians get dressed?  I mean, they have those huge carapaces, so they can't just pull their shirts on over their heads.  Then there are the spurs, so just stepping into their pants would be a problem...

One more Turian mystery. I wonder why they never show any skin aside from their faces. My theory is that they're always fully clothed because of the danger they could be to others. The Codex does say that the things on their legs and that their arms seem capable of ripping through flesh. If they accidentally bump into someone maybe they could cut him and so they are fully clothed to avoid that. I hope it's for another reason. I want to see what is it that their arms, legs and chests look like.

Considering you can romance Garrus, and he'd probably have to get naked to do so, I have my doubts it's because he might accidentally cut someone if he bumped into them.  Because, you know, there's probably a lot of bumping going on in the captain's quarters when FemShep romances him.

Just sayin'.

I was thinking that too. It still makes me angry that they never show us their hands or their arms. That should change in DLC or in ME3. I doubt Turians would wear that kind of clothing on their homeworld. They may like warm places but I doubt they like places that are too hot. I remember Garrus saying that Therum was too hot.

As for meeting Garrus's dad, I had an idea a couple days ago about how that could be pulled off in a way that didn't just cater to the Garrus romance fan crowd, but now I can't really remember what it was. Clearly, at least to me, you'd need some real reason. Maybe it would be Garrus's personal quest in ME3, or maybe Mr. Vakarian is a big-shot in turian society and you need his support to get a turian army at your back. Either way, the fact that Garrus and Shepard are "together" should not be the primary purpose of meeting Garrus's dad. Garrus might, however, introduce Shepard as his mate, presuming that the whole "if you cheated" thing doesn't split your Shepard up from him. That might be fun, if only because Shepard might be a little surprised to learn that Garrus considered her such... and nevermind Garrus's father's surprise. Now, having him react a bit differently to Shep after hearing that they're together, I can understand. It might make any negotiations easier, or it might make them harder, depending.

I agree with you- the beauty of their relationship is that whether or not Shep and Garrus are romantic, they're *tight*. Even the guys on this site typically refer to Garrus as their closest friend. So to me, Garrus' dad's beef would be with what kind of influence you have on him, not necessarily the nature of the relationship (though you'd get a couple extra lines of dialogue if you are in fact getting your Turian groove on).

I also agree on having another reason to be meeting Mr. Vakarian- Garrus doesn't seem to have the right kind of relationship with his dad to want to bring you home to meet him. In fact, I see Garrus as being rather powerfully reluctant in the situation, especially if you're romantically linked. I'm with those who think there's going to be a "Gondor calls for Aid" situation where you're getting help from various groups, races, etc. This would be the perfect opportunity to get two birds w/ one stone; those birds being storyline and gratuitous fanservice drama, of course. ;P.

The only problem I see with the gathering armies concept is it's resemblance to the DA:O storyline.  We ain't going after a dragon here.  We're going after fleets of Borg Cubes.  They'd have to tread carefully to avoid ripping off the DA:O team's ideas.  (Not that the gathering armies thing is necessarily original, Aragorn did it, after all.)

Well, technically they're already doing it, and carefully as you suggest. But it's depending on your decisions- saving the rachni queen vs. killing her, preserving the genophage cure or destroying it, etc. I do agree they wouldn't want to make it so obvious as to make it the main focus of the last game; they already made gathering a team to defeat a common enemy a large focus of ME2. It would be a mistake to repeat that.

I'm just saying it would be a good subplot, something you could do, or not. And there would be potential for a clash over the human/turian aspect (bias and species-ism being obstacles we deal with in the games already, but not overwhelming everything). Nicely dramatic. I may be a Garrus fangirl, but I agree that to pump the game full of fanservice would be overall very unsatisfying. A big part of the appeal is all of the 'work' we have to go through to get your rewards.

I think that the human-alien relations should be even more emphasized. We already have a pretty good view of the Krogan and Quarian-Geth conflicts, but Asari, Salarians, Turians etc. are kinda put together with the Council issue. And we miss a lot of knowledge about them.

Visiting Illium, as well as Tuchanka, was a delight. And the migrant fleet, even if it was a bit short. We learn a lot about their culture there. We need something like that for the other species we know, but want to know better... Turians and Salarians, to begin with.

(Also, anyone interested in some drawings of turians? Not Garrus, though. Also note that I drew them real quick, and except from the first one, I didn't have reference pictures in front of me. So they are more like vague turian shapes...
sketches
Also, a different style I'm trying:
character
and failing at, but meh. )

Keener comes in at around the 1:45-7 mark. Prepare to have your minds blown.

(Also worth noting: Morinth's V/A stars in this show too)

Wow, that was weird!

I was tabbed out for a second and hearing his voice without the flange was pretty nifty.

RE: Garrus's scar...
Please keep it.  It's part of his character now.  I don't find it unattractive in anyway, shape or form.  The cybernetics patch can probably be modified, but even if they keep it the way it is, it's still pretty cool looking.  Helps with his aura of BAMF.

/goes back to making her screen shot .rars...  I'm up to Samara! /flop

I like your style =] Good to see some people still use traditional media. My fav is the one on the far right, love how it's loose and sketchy but still captures the essence of a turian. More?

I don't have more of these. I'm living a complicated situation right now regarding what I do... It's like I do, and at the same time I don't, know what I want to do, or how I want to do it...

...and end up with a mishmash of different unrelated styles and media that don't work so well together.

Or this. Well, if anything, it's shown me that I am not a cartoonist/digital artist, and that I should probably give up on that style.

I may leave Garrus out and finish at least femshep with some quality, though.

I can relate .... I pretty much hate everything I draw right now which is why I'm reluctant to post it. Don't worry, just keep on experimenting, it can only help you on your way to figure out what works best for you artwise. Btw this looks awesome! Keep Garrus, he makes femshep pop out more with the dark grey you used for him. Don't give up on that style even if you don't like the result right now. It's rare that something works on the first try. But like I said, I think it's looking hella good!

Hell yeah xD.

Actually a few days ago I considered offering a fanart-fanfiction trade, because I have some ME fanfic ideas I know I'm never going to write... Original characters, just set in the ME universe, not Shepard's storyline. Or more exotic pairings!

(...yeah I can't get Garrus and Thane out of my head for some reason...)

Actually, a note about your drawing there, if Garrus is meant to remain shadowed, that's an awesome idea. After all, he's got her back from his sniper vantage points, ie, the shadows.

@Stiltsonata: Not according to my creative writing proffs. ;) I am writing some Shep stuff, but I have an ongoing Dragon Age project that I'd like to finish first.

Jack, but her's isn't as immediate as Thane's I believe. She's the slow painful brain degradation I think. Since the biotics are killing her. Thane's is... well, you've got 8 to 12 months till you suffocate. Later!

If we're thinking about the same line, dying isn't quite as locked-in as it is for Thane, but someone noticed that it mentions somewhere that Jack's extreme biotic power is due to neural degeneration and that's...bad.

This is why only Ugly Shepard has a chance to win against the Reapers.

What generation of implants is Jack outfitted with?
