No extra dialouge sucks man. I mean like come on bioware, you have to admit that you kind of half assed the dialouge (not just garrus) but with squad interaction in general. I hope they do what many other people are urging them to do.
I love the Mass Effect characters. Only ME character that I genuinely think is poor in quality is Zaeed (I am SO not interested in a flame war, just stating my opinion.) Even if I don't like some of the others, it's because they just aren't my cup of tea, not because they are bad characters. Oh, wait, Jacob...I try to forget about him. *Sigh*
Anyway, much as I love the ME2 cast, sometimes I think Bioware bit off more than they can chew. 12 is a LOT of people to juggle. They did a great job considering, but I think someone else described the ocean as "a mile wide and an inch deep." A tighter squad might be better in ME3 if it's not possible to ramp up the character interaction.
Actually come to think, ME1 interactions were rather generic. The elevator conversations were highly redundant. Many of the same topics got discussed regardless of who was with you. Characters randomly changed opinions based on whoever else was in your party and many times they all said exactly the same thing regardless of character. "Who votes we take the vehicle into the creepy underground bunker?" comes to mind. Would Ash or Garrus say that? Yep. Kaidan? Nope, he's not that playful or witty, yet he says that anyway.
ME2 has less dialog but individual lines generally pack more punch and are more in character. One example that immediately comes to mind. On Horizon Ashley refers to Shepard as a "god." Sarcastic and sharp? That sounds like Ash. But Kaidan refers to Shepard as a "legend." Romantic and cheeseball? That's Kaidan. I really appreciated little variations like that. There's a level of nuance there I really appreciate.
The interactions that were missing in ME2 were specifically party banters. I want the squaddies to talk to each other more. Otherwise, I was pretty satisfied. Well, except for the fact that Garrus only has three conversations INCLUDING his romance dialog, but we've already ridden that horse into the ground.
