Man, just imagine what the conversation to get Garrus to wear Cerberus armor would've been like.

GARRUS: Cerberus, Shepard? Do you remember those sick experiments they were--

SHEPARD: Garrus, you WILL wear that armor, and you WILL like it!

GARRUS: But I--

SHEPARD: I don't care that it's a humans-first group while you're too busy being an alien! PUT THAT ARMOR ON!

GARRUS: Shepard, I--

SHEPARD: Fine. Maybe I'll go and romance Thane this time. At least HE's wearing his Cerberus-themed costume.

GARRUS: No, don't. It's just that--

*SHEPARD thrusts the armor into GARRUS' hands and folds her arms*

SHEPARD: You have ten seconds.

GARRUS: But I can't change my clothes while you're--

SHEPARD: NOW, Garrus.

*TALI starts crying*

TALI: My suit! It's all black...and orange...and...Cerberus-y. Shepard, what have you done to my SUIT!?

SHEPARD: I changed it while you were sleeping.

TALI: Keelah! When I said you were my best friend, I didn't mean it in the "go ahead and change my clothes while I'm in my sleeping pod" way! I'd only allow ManShep to do that!

GARRUS: Shepard, I'm done.

SHEPARD: Crap, I didn't watch. Now I'll NEVER know what a turian looks like under that armor.

GARRUS: You could always start my romance and--

SHEPARD: I know! I'll just have you run around NAKED!

GARRUS and TALI:

I can't ever get Shep's nose right. It's either Disney princess nose or Cro-Magnon woman nose with nothing in-between. The lighting doesn't hurt her though. I actually got her where her eyes kind of change color from blue to green depending on lighting so that's actually kind of cool.

On the subject of Garrus not caring, I wonder how much of a judge of human beauty he is anyway? He says he doesn't have a human fetish so I'm taking it that he's never really thought about it one or the other. I don't think it would really matter to Garrus but once a relationship started I can't help but think it would cross his mind (and Shep's mind) just how desirable the other is in the terms of their species. Not to change their opinion, just out of curiosity.

Is Garrus a looker by tuian standards? (I have a feeling, yes) Do those scars dramatically impact his looks amongst his own species? (I have another feeling, yes.) Will Garrus start judging other human females against the model of Shepard or will he judge Shepard against what he thinks human standards are? Or for that matter, are there things considered desirable in turians that translate into human females? (Think of how to us, broad shoulders, deep voices, and masculine, predatory bearings translate and become desirable even in turians.)

Just some food for thought.

On the subject of Garrus not caring, I wonder how much of a judge of human beauty he is anyway? He says he doesn't have a human fetish so I'm taking it that he's never really thought about it one or the other. He probably really hasn't thought about it much. Til Shepard came along he probably never at all even considered having a relationship or even sex with a human. I don't think he'd be a particularly good judge of human beauty because as a Turian he likely didn't know or care about what humans consider beautiful. By the same token that Shepard probably doesn't know either.

Is Garrus a looker by tuian standards? (I have a feeling, yes)

If you play as Male Shepard and say that Garrus was always ugly, Garrus counters that with "At least you get a chance with women now, I get hit on all the time." (roughly). Could just be some bro dialog, but may also be true.

Do those scars dramatically impact his looks amongst his own species? (I have another feeling, yes.)

Quite possible. Scars, especially in the military society of the Turians, will show that the Turian in question likely was in a battle and survived, possibly ending up victorious. Since Turian society is all about the military and duty, something like that could be attractive to the female turian.

Will Garrus start judging other human females against the model of Shepard or will he judge Shepard against what he thinks human standards are?

I'm not sure he would really care. He might look around and find out what humans typically may find attractive, and go "huh. Shepard's attractive among humans." Like you said, he may think that as special but wouldn't really affect his opinion of her in any substantial way.

Or for that matter, are there things considered desirable in turians that translate into human females? (Think of how to us, broad shoulders, deep voices, and masculine, predatory bearings translate and become desirable even in turians.)

Likely waist and hips. It also helps that Shepard is a military woman that Garrus can kill baddies with.

I don't think Garrus has any idea of what is considered attractive amongst humans. He didn't watch the vids, so he's complimenting her waist and hair.

We had this conversations hundreds of pages back, and someone suggested that Garrus would go to Joker to ask if Shepard is an attractive human. That would be a funny scenario XD.

Funny comic and somewhat related:

Honestly I don't think Garrus has got much of a clue about this kind of thing in general, human, turian or whatever. Who was it...posted that really excellent character analysis a while back that talked about he had never gotten much experience in the finer points of dealing with women because he was just too damn busy. "A knight-errant so focused on slaying dragons that he forget the other half of his job-the maidens" or something like that. I think that's spot on.

"Uh, I really didn't think you'd feel like sparring commander."

*Facepalm/exasperated but affectionate laugh*

He really is oblivious.

The first time I heard it, I thought he was just saying that to take the safe route. Instead of jumping her, he was checking if she was thinking of the same thing.

But then he goes "ooooh.... uhhhhh..."

So yeah, oblivious. =]

Man. Trust the thread to get all speedy when my internet access is not great.

I don't think Garrus really cares about what Shepard looks like: he's attracted to her, not to her body (if that makes sense). By this I mean, I don't think he's now all about humans (Sorry, Dr Michel. No Garrus sex for you). If he was goign to judge her physical beauty, I'd say it'd be against what he normally finds attractive in turian females, but I think for him it's more about her spirit and passion, and bad-assery. And all the trust/respect stuff as well. Of course.:innocent:

I've been sifting through ME2 soundfiles (I party hard) and it's interesting where and when people have extra dialogue. I'm slightly disappointed that Thane gets so many LI specific lines in the SM, and Garrus gets... none. :(What's most interesting to me, however, is the way the files are labeled (I'm not a PC gamer, so I had to get this from another player, but I'm pretty sure noone would have the paitience to rename all the files in code, but maybe someone can keep me right on this....) Garrus, Grunt and Tali have their sound files labeled by name, but everyone else is called by an alias. Thane is assassin, Jack is convict, Mordin is Professor, Samara is mystic, Legion is Geth, and (in a WTF moment) Jacob is 'leader'. Oh, and Miri is 'vixen'. Subtle.<_< Sorry - this is only interesting to me and bout 2 other people, but I can't work out why three of them would have character names, and the others not...
Also: can Mordin be the biotic? I didn't think so, but files are there. Why would anyone pick him for that? Seriously?

I am now picturing Garrus charging on a white horse in full medieval plate metal with his lance out (minds out of the gutter, people), riding right by the damsel, heading for the dragon.

Didn't think so. Glad to know I'm not crazy...

(my head has been spinning all day, so I'm starting to doubt my sanity. Inability to chillax on internets properly or play the 360 isn't helping. The fact that editing random sound file combinations together has become my one outlet is worrying. lol. Damn Virgin Media!)

Thanks.:)

Yeah, I heard Thane's sihathings in the SM too when I was going through the soundfiles. But does he really say that when he dies? Because it's really not fair :(. Jack has some too.

I also don't understand why Garrus doesn't have an alias, even though it's kind of a spoiler that GARRUS is in ME2.

Well most people don't dig into the game files. And if they do, it's usually after they've beaten or at least played the game.

I heard that Jack says something different if you romance her and she dies as the second team leader. Does anyone else have something where if you romance them and they die as second team leader, they say something unique?

The file directories were originally created while the characters were still in the conceptual stage and did not have finalized names yet. Grunt was always going to be a grunt, but that ultimately ended up to turn out as his name as well. Tali and Garrus are named Tali and Garrus because, as returning squadmates from ME1, they already had finalized names.

Garrus really did get the short stick on dialog.  Part of me just thought I was paranoid for a while, but no he really does have way less dialog than anybody else specifically romance dialog.

Doesn't say how it's different if you romance him, though.

However, I read all of Garrus' unique dialogue and suddenly don't care. ;)

Garrus has less romance dialog? Didn't know that. Just thought he had less conversations pre-romance.

In this particular case, Garrus can't have romance specific second team leader death dialog because he will always survive if he's loyal. So that makes Jack, Thane, and Tali the only possible love interests who could possibly have unique romance dialog if they were made second team leader. Jack I'm pretty sure has unique romance death dialog, not sure about Thane and Tali.
