The file directories were originally created while the characters were still in the conceptual stage and did not have finalized names yet. Grunt was always going to be a grunt, but that ultimately ended up to turn out as his name as well. Tali and Garrus are named Tali and Garrus because, as returning squadmates from ME1, they already had finalized names.

Ah, that makes sense of course. Garrus and Tali don't need an alias in that case.

Jack says "I knew I'd get tagged on this mission. I was too happy. Too happy with you." before she dies as second teamleader if you romanced her, according to several sources I've come across.

Okay, so all my pictures for my epic paint topic are ready, but.....I'm leaving on thursday for a trip and won't have reliable internet access for 9 days.

However, I read all of Garrus' unique dialogue and suddenly don't care.

As for the less romance dialog thing, I meant that in two ways.  A) He has no post romance dialog of any kind.   The actual branches in the romance conversations are quite small compared to other LIs.  You basically get to ask "are you sure?"  "when do we screw?" and then say yes or no and that's it.  The others have multiple paths (Jack renegade/paragon,) have early pre-loyalty or during loyalty mission flirting (Jacob, Thane, Tali) or have many more branches in the dialog itself (Jacob, Miranda, Tali.)

I figure it's A) they already know each other too well... neither of them are good with the emotional crap ... C) They're both in denial it's something more than "blowing off steam."

Anyways, it's weird that Jacob has romance death lines, because technically unless I'm mistaken he doesn't die as team leader unless he's unloyal, in which case you couldn't romance him.

Re: Jack's line. It's in the files... actually, as far as I can find, Jack, Jacob and Thane all get LI specific lines during SM. Tali, Garrus and Miranda don't. Probably because it's really hard to lose Garrus loyal, and impossible to lsoe a loyal Miri.

If he gets capped, Jacob says "looks like you and I won't get our time." In case anyone is interested. lol

Oh, I remembered there was a discussion some pages back about the VAs recording dialogue. Now, I don't know if BW can work this way, but I know that some TV shows, etc, will record VO in different studios and edit the tracks together, if need be. In fact, I remember Matt Groening talking about recording guest star lines over the phone ofr the odd Futurama ep. Obviously, getting the actors down to the regular studio is better, but the point is that if they decide they need more dialogue from a particular character, they could easily get them into a studio elsewhere, if the cost of flights and accomodation was an issue, or timings were hard. BW is based in 4 cities atm, so they probably have the facility to get the actors into the most convenient ones.

Bascially, we want more Garrus! Going through this dialogue really makes it obvious how little he got in comparison to the other LIs. His recruitment contains a lot (with him shouting direction, etc) but on virtually every other point he's shafted.

JACOB: Yo Shepard, I'm real sad for you, and I'mma let you finish, but that Collector shot in the stomach was one of the most painful shots of all time! 

SHEPARD: But I--

JACOB: OF ALL TIME!

*JACOB slumps to the floor, dead.*

SHEPARD: JACOB!

MIRANDA: I knew picking him as a team leader was a heavy risk.

SHEPARD: But the pr--

Yes, this is weird.

It makes sense that Garrus doesn't have LI specific last words in that scene, because he can't die when he's loyal (and romanced). With the rocket to the face and seeker swarms, he doesn't have time to say goodbye.

But then I don't understand why Tali won't say something about the romance when she dies.

Backpedalling again to the attractiveness question, I thought of something. Turians in general find quarians attractive, and quarian females have a body shape very close to that of a human female (barring the legs). So I don't think it would be much of a stretch for Garrus to see Shepard as physically attractive. He says he hasn't considered cross-species intercourse at all, but as people have said, this probably has as much to do with his general obliviousness as with natural preference for turians. It's just that, since a turian can find a quarian attractive, it's not that big of a jump from there to a human.

As for him saying Shepard's waist is attractive, that's not because he's done research on humans: that's him picking out a trait that he'd find attractive in a turian. He says as much. Just like Shep would probably be looking for stuff she'd find attractive in a human male (voice, broad shoulders, predatory attitude).

I guess I just can't fathom him not finding her physically attractive at all: sex wouldn't be possible without at least a minimum amount of physical attraction, and sex is the very first thing they discuss in their relationship, so...
