google.

oh you mean that Asari detective on Illium. Ya know, when ya look at her from the front her scalp is ... a bit wide on the sides. almost reminds me of an afro.

Just my 2 cents.

Chellik was a turian detective in C-SEC, like garrus. I think it was a side mission in ME1.

Honestly I don't think
Garrus has got much of a clue about this kind of thing in general,
human, turian or whatever. Who was it...posted that really excellent
character analysis a while back that talked about he had never gotten
much experience in the finer points of dealing with women because he
was just too damn busy. "A knight-errant so focused on slaying dragons
that he forget the other half of his job-the maidens" or something like
that. I think that's spot on.

"Uh, I really didn't think you'd feel like sparring commander."

*Facepalm/exasperated but affectionate laugh*

He really is oblivious.

Hehe yeah, my thoughts exactly.

WAT. Do you remember the title? I want to read it. If it's that bad, it should at least be something to lol at.

I admire your bravery. I'm not sure I could go through some fanfiction without wanting to hang myself.

Yeah, I find that most fanfiction is horribly OOC, even the supposedly "good" ones.

But that's because I'm just very picky, especially when it comes to my favorite characters. Shepard is hard to get OOC since she/he is so specific to the player, but most FemSheps tend to be written with the exact same "oh-so-sassy-and-charming" personality (you'd think that the battle-hardened, "serious business" soldier cliche would be more common, but apparently not). So I just stopped reading Mass Effect fanfiction altogether.

This. I'm exactly the same. I am planning to write ME fanfiction, but at a very slow pace to make sure I have the characters perfect and that Shepard is as depicted in-game rather than my projection - and I need to also make Shepard interesting rather than a blank slate. Tough challenge.

But like you said, I don't read ME fanfiction ever for the most part. Whenever I see something OOC I just feel like I want to stop reading. A lot of people project their own desires onto the characters (too much so). Subconsciously or not, I really dislike that.

Thats what I thought when I started writing
Eventually you get a feel of how to write, for example I characterize Garrus as the best friend type who likes to give friendly jabs about MaleShep and Tali

Shepard mostly acts like a teen, I shouldn't even be wondering why at times. As for Garrus, he's just hurr derp derp. They make him like he's a troglodyte just getting out of a cave and awe struk by everything surrounding him.

Sure Cerry. Let's see...

questions

1.  I'd like some unique conversations about only the romance AND a few changed lines here and there that acknowledge it.  For instance, maybe his greeting when you walk up to him to talk or leave is slightly different or if Shep is on the ropes in combat he yells something. Also, party banters that discuss the romance ala DAO would be great. I know that's pretty ambitious so I'd settle for just the first one (unique conversations.)

2. Conclusive but not marriage and nothing sappy.  Some kind of simple "I'm with you to the end."  Just a slight step up from his usual "I've got your back."  Garrus would never be happy in a settled life and he's not one for rules and formalities.  I think he'd just trip over his own feet and want to disappear at a wedding.  The most I could see is some really informal justice of the peace type scenario, but frankly I think even that's a bit much.

3. Tali.  They're old pals and I can see them being comfortable enough to talk about Shep while Shep isn't listening.  That could be very funny and interesting.

4. I think some would congratulate (Kasumi, Samara, Liara, Kaidan-not cheated on that is-,Thane)  I think some would congratulate/tease (Tali, Mordin)  I think some would be utterly neutral (Miranda, Legion, Zaeed) I think some might be neutral/not care but might make smart ass comments about it (Grunt, Jack, Wrex) and I think some wouldn't like it but would keep their mouth shut (Ash, Jacob)  Did I miss anybody?

5. Depends on situation and whose in your squad.  I usually keep him on sniper rifle though because I love his cocky exclamations.  I love this rifle!

6. Fixed loyalty armor.

7. I like the loyalty armor if only it didn't have that giant hole.

8. I once thought it would be too cheesy, but I think it could be pulled off if it was done right and only said once.  but implied works too.  I would, however, like to see some dialog that really discusses what the relationship is and establishes it is NOT just blowing off steam, maybe some dialog that acknowledges that people will really not like this pairing and that they don't care and want to go on with it anyway.  Also, maybe something about a romance can't change anything on the team.  They can't start playing hero or trying to get protective.  They have to be willing to sacrifice the other for the good of the galaxy.  I think that's way in character for both of them.

9. I think almost immediately if the implicative ending of ME2 says anything....

10.  I think Kaidan/Garrus will be graceful enough to respect Shep's decision.  I don't think they will fight.  They are both too dignified for that.  I can see Garrus chewing Kaidan out for the way he talked to Shep on Horizon though.  Not in a braggy way but just because he was mighty ticked at the way Kaidan treated her.  He was emphatic even back on Horizon (Damn it, Kaidan!)

11. About like ME1 or ME2.  Leave the giant angsty romance interwoven with plot stuff in DAO please.  I think the flavor of that is all wrong for ME.

12.  Mere seconds....the real question is how long they will live once we get our hands on them.  I kid, I kid!

Ah, but I'm not just starting out.  At least not in writing in general.

Garrus is hard to characterize.  Heck, we don't even know how much he knows about humans.  So, in my own work, I figured most of the humans he's fought have been armored.  Can't knock an armored human's breath out.  And he may have seen a hug, but perhaps never been on the recieving end.

But I'm pretty sure he knows what a fork is.  And uses one.

Or more likely, in 100 years from now... a spork.

Answering in no particular order:

I think Garrus and Shepard will go out in a firey blaze of sniping action together (at least, that's what I want) but I don't think they'll necessarily be either vigilantes or officers. I feel like they will pretty much go whereever the wind takes them (so a little from column a, a little from column B). At least, this is what I'd like to see. If BW decide to force a 'Shepard sacrifices him/herself for the greater good' endin on us, then I actually think I want Garrus to go out fighting along side. Not that I want Garrus to die: I just think that's where he belongs.

Garrus needs more Grunt banter. And Mordin banter. Grunt, because his krogan banter is always gold (the brief back and forth they have on Mordin's recruitment is amazing), and Mordin because he's so unlike Garrus, it makes me laugh to think of it.

I think the reaction would be mixed. Some crew (Mordin, Grunt) would probably not really care about the species thing, but be happy for Shepard. Some (Jacob) would take issue with it out of jelousy (I know he is Mr Nice Guy, but he is also Mr Sore Loser). Kasumi would be thrilled for them. I think Miranda and Jack would disapprove. Samara, I think, would be happy for Shepard. Zaeed... well, I think the idea would turn his stomach and he would say so. Legion is legion. Tali... I'm not entirly convinced Tali wouldn't be a tad jelous as well, one way or another. lol

Garrus looks good in blue.

I don't think Garrus and Shepard need to say the 'L' word. They aren't really the 'talk these feelings out' type of couple, and I think the emotional sie of their romance is already conveyed so much in body language and Shepard actually stopping him from speaking, that when they get to that point, they'll both let the other know without actually needing to say it. I think saying it would go down the dorky/cheesy road again, and it doesn't need that.

Garrus is one hell of a sniper. Scoped and dropped!

I don't think the romances should be part of the overall arc of the whole trilogy (eg, your relationship is KEY to saving the day), but they definetly need to have some significance on the ending. Whether that be that depending upon sucess, Shepard lives out her life with her LI (differently for each, in character fitting fashion); said relationship influences a descision which affects the final fight; or simply that's the person Shepard has at her back in the endgame - make more of it, please. If we simply get a 'one night before dying' scenario again, I will be disappoint. Please let the relationship be a proper relationship and develop as such throughout the game...

I definatly want conversation options which relfect the specific routes I've taken with my relationships (actually, wth ALL realtionships. Not just LIs. Yes, I am greedy). If Garrus and Shepard have history from ME1 - mention it. If they hooked up in ME2 without said history, show the difference, howver small.I don't care if I need to replay to get all the conversations with him (eg, a bromanced Garrus should have bromanceable dialogue as well). I love replaying, Let me have a new experience.

Garrus and Kaiden: Garrus would defend Shepards honor, and Kaiden would be in disbelief that she chose Garrus, but noether would come to blows over it. They both respect Shepard too much and are too in control of their selves and the mission to do anything other than abide by her descision. However, the 'loser' will certainly warn 'the winner' : "If you hurt her, I'll kill you."

Garrus and Liara: hard to say. Garrus might be quite dignified about the whole thing, but Liara seems like she could snap and go mad at Garrus for 'stealing' Shepard from her. To which Garrus would probably reply that Shepard makes her own choices and they both know that. Also, that Liara has changed. Liara may want to bring her part in Shep's resserection into play. Who knows?

I'm hopinh ME3 will start pretty soon after ME2. Long enough for the Reapers to make their next move, and for everyone to deal with the fall out of ME2, but not so long that we have the team drift apart again. Ideally, we'd get an expansion pack to bridge the time-gap between ME2and ME3. I want continuity, dammit! No 'clean slate' beginning again.

FemShep's power level is almost certainly over 9000. According to the scouter, anyway.

BW employees would need a damn good fortified base, that's all I'm saying. But without Garrus V to help them... not long.

And... hope this doesn't get stuck in bandwidth. lol

I've seen it both ways.  Here it's mostly ya'all probably cause we hardly ever actually say "you."  It almost always comes out "ya."
