Garrus and tali like to poke fun at each other. And i want to see more of wise-cracking garrus in future mass effect content. Him not talking throughout most of the game is depressingly uncomfortable.

Garrus had some funny lines

What is good to fight through
Hardware stores, gardens, antique shops, but only if they're classy (something like that)

Not to many though. And uh....i might get flammed for saying this but...

When i first saw tali as a character she had to grow on me at first. But it was probably because i was to obsessed with my oversized kermit the frog and steriods and lizard man (Wrex and garrus). I didn't take tali on to many missions because of it, which was why i thought she was boring at first. Then some of my friends were telling me how ridiculous i was and that i should start taking her out more often. Eventually i started to like her a lot. I blame kermit the frog.

Who could resist him?

I completely disagree with Garrus on the hospitals not being fun to fight through. Talk about possibilities of dangerous chemical warfare...

Hock's vault was fun to fight through.

Because of kermit your transgression is acceptable

"Some women find facial scars attractive. Mind you, most of those women are krogan."

"A quarantine zone for a plague that kills turians? Why can't we ever go someplace nice?"

"Adolescence? Can't we just take him to Omega and buy him a few dances?"

"There's no pep talk like a military pep talk"

Yea, and ten thousand more. He cracks me up.

I was utterly neutral about Tali at first too until I met the crazy Talimancers when I got on the forums.  Then I analyzed her more thoroughly and saw I was missing a lot.  Now I really like her.  She's my femshep's bff, little sister, and so on.  Imagine that.  The Talimancers actually converted someone!  The Talihaters would be shocked.

I always liked Tali. Just wished she got to say more than "quarians 101" in ME1.

Same with garrus. I mean ok garrus we know you seen some interesting stuff in C-SEC and you talk a little bit about your race. But what about the rest of it? Your personal life, what you did on omega, hobbies, favorite guns, favorite things to callibrate i mean what the hell man!

Garrus' lines are golden. "I love what they've done with the place." He's a good mix of sarcasm/humor and badassery.

But we need MOAR!!!

I remind myself as that one guy from a spongebob commercial about chocolate.

"Did you say you were making garrus say more line? Garrus???"

Bioware:

Haha yeah, that was extremely funny. I think all other squad mates say something negative.

It also reminded me of Wrex in the mine on Therum. "Sterile white. Protheans sure built things homey." (or something like that)

I sort of thought that too but then if you step back I think a lot of that actually IS her personality.  To a quarian, the flotilla is everything, her people are everything.  When you ask her about herself she thinks of herself in large part in terms of her people, the fleet, and how she can help them.  I don't mean that she isn't an individual. (Obviously she is when you consider how she voices disapproval with some of what the admiralty board does.) But her home is a HUGE part of her personal identity.  I think it's natural she talks about them.  That's one of the reasons I think she's such a good squadmember.  She has this instinctive and cultural desire to work well with others.  To her, the crew of her ship is essentially her family.

Strangely enough, Grunt actually has some of this dynamic too as he thinks of the crew as his "clan."  He isn't altruistic or anything but certainly very loyal.  I was rather surprised and touched by that death scene dialog of his someone posted a few pages back.

Oh yea, and Garrus.

Anyway, Garrus

Every time I hear the music "Suicide Mission" I always hear garrus shout "hostiles, incoming" because thats whet he says on the platform fight

Yea, they pretty much say either "I've never seen a ship like this before" or "This ship looks like an insect hive." But not Garrus, he's a rebel against generic lines. =p

Tali is pleased :P

Anyway, I always took her along because she had both bypass and hack or what ever, so was the obvious one to specialize in those skills so I did not waste those points on other characters. The second squad was always the mission dependent one. So I got all there was to know about Tali in ME 1. :) So she became one of the favorites right away because of her useful skillsets and personality.

As a soldier I took her for similar reasons, she really started to grow on me
Garrus didn't really grow on me until the recruit mission in ME2

Garrus always appealed to me because of the comradeship aspect. Tali has that too of course.

Part of the reason Garrus has that aspect is because he listens to what Shepard says. He respects Shepard greatly and takes those words of advice or wisdom into consideration. But at the same time, he is his own person - Shepard isn't molding Garrus by any means. Garrus looks up to Shepard as someone who can get things done without fearing the red tape of the council (to an extent if you're paragon). He really shined in ME2 - both Garrus and Tali did. Garrus has those "old times" comments that really solidifies his relationship and friendship with Shepard. Garrus is the kind of guy who will always have your back and someone you can trust. It's really nice to have that when you are surrounded by Cerberus and have TIM breathing down your neck.

i didn't like her or garrus when i was introduced to the game but after playing ME2 they both instantly became my favorite characters in the game and after taking them with me everywhere in a recent ME1 playthrough i can see what i missed out on.

I ran the tech brigade.  Me, Garrus, and Tali. I usually put Garrus on electronics because he needs it for his pitiful ME1 shields and then I put Tali on Decryption saving the more offensive stuff for my infiltrator.  It worked out quite nicely. Tali had the front.  Garrus got the middle (usually put him on assault rifle in ME1) and I covered them with a sniper rifle.  I've also found that an adept works brilliantly with those two as well.  Singularity or lift and watch them lay into it with a shotgun and sniper rifle.  Good times.
