I think I've pretty much failed in my attempt to describe why or how Garrus could live a life beyond Shepard. But I am in the Garrus thread. Next, I'll go to the Tali thread and describe her life beyond Shepard.
lol. Aww. I get what you were saying, I just disagreed. And you have a point: we are the Garrus thread.

I think most of us come from the POV of having played Garrus as being there from ME1. I thnk that if he is newly recruited in ME2, this changes the dynamic somewhat. I'm trying to get an handle on Shep-free Garrus atm myself. The problem I have in picturing him going it alone is that he'd be leaving a lot to go towards... not very much. I don't think he'd have left Shepard the 1st time, had Shepard not gone and died on him. And that goes for some of the other squaddies as well. I don't think it's as simple as 'they all follow Shepard', as much as 'they are a team'. Shepard is simply the glue that holds them all together (Go Team Shepard!).
If Shepard died again, I think Garrus would be more than capable of carrying on the good fight by himself. I just don't see why he'd do that if Shepard were still alive and in need of his services. They work best together, and why go against that? Subjectivity win!

Gotta love some of the people on this
forum. I just saw someone say interspecies romances are akin to
bestiality. MAKES PERFECT SENSE, RIGHT.
Yes. This is an old argument which I made the mistake of trying to answer once upon a time. Things got heated.

(I thought Collider was there somewhere backing me up, but I may be confused. lol)
Each to their own, and all that, but WRONG!
