Feel free to request a location![smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/joyful.png[/smilie]

And if I had a CLUE how to do this, THIS banner I'd use. Thanks!

You use [ img]*banner url*[ /img] without the spaces
So for that banner it would be [ img] http://i44.tinypic.com/2cdcsbs.png [ /img] without the spaces

Awesome!  Thank you.  Now, I need to figure out how to do it without destroying my shameless self-promotion. :D

But that's okay

More like garrus should be the new ideal turian. People would only wish to be half of what he is.

Oh, Xsause. While we are on banners:

Clan Vakarian: Because our love of Garrus and alcohol will never die.

(we came up with that one while you were AWOL. This made us sad. lol)

All that talk of turian/human marriage reminded me of a skit from a few hundred pages back, where Garrus heard he needed to give Shepard a rock as a sign of committment. He spent several days scouring the beaches to find one that was juuuuust right.

Shepard: It's... a very nice rock, Garrus.

Garrus: Is that a yes?

Shepard: ...a yes... to...rocks?

Garrus: But Joker told me - dammit.

Or something. Made me lol. Also, was reminded of a crackfic I read where Shep and Garrus got engaged, and there were all kinds of turian customs Shepard couldn't get her head around. (Was that one of yours, Xsause?) :D

I read a book where the 2 main characters decided to get married (they were both sailors who had adventures on the high seas), and were both from quite well to do families, but had rebelled. They sailed about together (scandalous!) and fully intended to get married, but his family wouldn’t approve, and in any case they were too busy sailing, so they sort of left it that they were almost married. I realised as I was reading it that it’s where I see my FemShep and Garrus after all this blows over. The intention is there, but they are too busy living life together to bother with formality.

I loved the alien language discussion from earlier. Language fascinates me (like how some languages can express ideas impossible to express in other languages... they are how we shape our reality, and therefore perception, etc. Sadly, I don't think we'll be meeting any sentient or sapiant alien beings in our lifetimes... and if we do, chances are they'll mine all our minerals and make off with them, leaving us depleated. O-o

Hahah, those are adorable!

Man, I hate having to go to work... I want to be on when they announce the new DLC so I can rant when it isn't what I want it to be. :P

All I've had running through my head is scenarios of how a life-bonding/life-mate/marriage thing might(MIGHT) play out after all the talk in here. Granted, I've read enough sci-fi books recently that the possibilities of it don't really phase me much. Given my personal attitude towards marriage, it isn't surprising that I'd see it as something appealing to my favorite ME couple. (My Shep is Spacer/War Hero and is perfectly comfortable with marriage, since her parents are married and it doesn't diminish her mother's job or work in any way... I can easily see my Shepard enjoying being married as well.) And the idea of Garrus awkwardly trying to figure out which set of customs to go off of or being awkward about approaching it at all makes me giggle inside. (Granted, in my head I have Garrus being the one looking at it after my Shep was the one who aggressively went after him in the first place. I love balance. XD)

But, in the end, it's all up to each of us and our personal take of Shepard. OUR Shepard. My bitter angry Shepard would probably shy away from marriage(since she's in a relationship with Thane I think she'd be kind of 'ya know, till death to us part isn't what I want to HEAR RIGHT NOW' about it...) while my main Shep would probably enjoy it a lot. It's like my shipping of Tali and Kal. I see it working in my head, others don't. Doesn't make it right or wrong. It just is our opinion on the universe as we play it.

As long as Shepard lives, everything Cerberus related will go terribly wrong or rogue, then he/she has to fix it. From ME1 they've been doing dumb things and Shepard had to deal with them.

Shepard: Hello Tim. I'm here to clean up your mess.

I say it's a very beautiful rock and would bring loads of luck too if you keep it in your pocket.

Edited to add:  Above posters are right.  Salarians don't do relationships.  Although there's one you can rescue who seems to have a crush on Thane.

Some Salarians do relationships. One of the most touching dialogue sequences I found is between a Salarian and his step-daughter on Illium where he discusses the need to buy a momento for her mother.

Yeah, I loved those two. He's freaking out because he'll die soon and wants his wife to remember him, she seems slightly annoyed at first, but does her best to cheer him up.

"Her first mate, your father...he got her things when he traveled."

"I remember him. And I want to remember you. That's why we went on this trip, remember?"

Kind of sad when you think about it. The Salarian will only live 40 years. There's a similar problem with Shepard and Liara.

Exactly.  I don't care who's saying what (who am I kidding I WANT GARRUS TO TALK TO ME MORE DAMN IT) but having new stuff makes me squee with joy.

And I've just been totally freaked out over at the LJ comm.  Someone was able to type out the System Shock's AI's voice in a post.

HOLY GOD /freaked out

(Incidentally, this possibility may also doom Garrus/Femshep since Femshep is, well, human.  And we're notoriously non-dedicated to our significant others... just look at all the cheaters out there.)

That's a huge generalization right there. Just because some people cheat doesn't mean any relationship involving a human is instantly doomed Posted Image

Concerning the term "mate", that just sounds to me like a turian term for spouse. Human marriage is also meant to be for life, so it would make sense that whoever a turian chooses as a mate will also supposedly be for life. That being said, they also seem to be perfectly ok with casual sex, and I wouldn't be surprised if they also accepted some form of divorce. As for Garrus' encounter with the recon scout, that was totally casual sex. You know, the kind where a person irritates you because, deep down inside, you want to jump their bones? That sounds like what it was. He doesn't seem upset, concerned or interested about what may have happened to her afterwards; I highly doubt that that was him looking for a mate. Especially since Garrus doesn't seem to be the "omg, I NEED to find a wife RIGHT NOW" kind. I don't think either him or Shepard would be particularly concerned about either marriage or children, even as a social norm, since they both kinda laugh in the face of norm. But I do think that a relationship between them would be the lasting kind, considering the kind of mutual trust and respect they have.

On a completely different topic, I'm curious about the new DLC. Will definitely be giving it a go. Sure as heck is better than just another appearance pack.
