I always found Mordin to be a joker and more than just numbers and science. That's what he excels at, yes, but if you talk to him all the time... if you take him with you on missions... there is WAY more to him than that. I

I'm almost completely finished with my Insanity play and pondering what to do next. Maybe finish the Vanguard playthrough that I started.... Hm.

wish i could finish my vangaurd playthough, but I keep on getting stuck in the environment. -.-

Makes you wonder if there is some little tribe of REALLY crazy fangirls on the internet somewhere that are underground. I thought we were nuts, but just look through fanfiction.net some afternoon and you will realize we don't have ANYTHING on some people.

Very true. Crappy and creepy fanfiction abound (in general).

Sure, but I meant fanfiction on fanfiction.net in general. Some of the things I've seen and read I kinda wish I could unread.

I have a Vanguard playthrough I need to finish, too. But I'm having too much fun replaying ME1 atm. :D

Me three.  Huh, what is with the forgotten vanguards?

I know what's up with mine...I got partway through, and I missed my sniper rifle terribly.  TERRIBLY. :(
So I imported my Infiltrator Shepard from ME1 and it was good times. :wizard:
BTW, the sniper rifle in ME2 seems a lot more fun than in ME1.  Am I doing something wrong?

Gameplay in ME2 is a lot more fun in general, IMO.

Is there someplace for fanfic that has a better rep? I don't know how some sites just seem to naturally filter out the crap, but they do. Deviantart for instance has a very high percentage of awesome stuff. There's crap sure, but it's not 90% crap like fanfiction.net is. How do they manage that?

This is what threads like this are for. Need a Garrus fix of substantial quality? Someone participating in this thread has read it.

I, however, have only read Garrus porn.

I've always been tempted to go to fanfiction.net and read fanfic for, say, MegaMan or Katamari Damacy (yes, they literally have fanfics about Katamari Damacy LOL). I mean what is going on in those? :I

I'd have to say 98% of those I read fits that description.  Actually, some of the stories on Masskink are less explicit than some of those fanfiction.net ones. LOL

Might be in a minority here, but I actually think the Widow is too powerful.  If I use it too much, I think the game gets boring.  I usually only use it if I"m on the ropes and I use it like a heavy weapon against really tough stuff.  I prefer the Locust with cryo.  Then I can sit back and watch Garrus shatter stuff with his sniper rifle.  Happiness insues...:D

Did I say I hadn't read Garrus porn? That's the easy fix.

I once did an intentionally bad cracky fanfic about FemShep and Garrus getting hitched, just to see how far I could push obvious Did Not Do The Research and OOC-ness before I "went too far".

In the end, I managed to do about 8 chapters before I got a review that wasn't "good". And even then it was just someone saying that Shepard, MY Shepard, was OOC.

Oh, great times.

I actually started a fic, but after reading some of the others, I got scared away.  I don't even like to entertain the possibility that some of my stuff might get that over the top.  I generally have an innate suspicion of fanfic and in fact Garrus fanfic is the first I have really read with any depth or consistency.  I had never even considered writing it before either.  I love to write, but it's usually my own stuff.  Some of the "for the hell of it" crackfic is pretty fun, but most of the serious stuff is...scary.  It can be summed up with two phrases:  "self insertion" and "takes itself WAY too seriously."

I see what you mean. Yeah, some fanfics are incredibly disturbing.

My fics just about never take themselves seriously. At all. But that's what makes them incredibly fun to write. For example, Fail for the Lost has characters constantly complaining about how the story sucks, some really creepy pairings (FemShepxGarrusxSarenxMordin love quadrangle, AndersonxTurian Councilor, JacobxMale Elcor, MirandaxNiftu Cal), and a very beige-prose way of story telling (I really can't write purple prose), and on top of that I'm planning a lot of jokes about fanfiction in general.

Here's an excerpt, Shepard's last thoughts before she dies when the Normandy gets blown up:

The cockpit started blowing up around Shepard, seperating her from
Joker and ripping open her oxygen tank.

'Can't die now, haven't done it with a turian yet. Can't die now, haven't done it with a turianyet.' was all she could think before being blown into the endless void of space. Her feelings numbed and her body went limp.

Two
seconds later, Commander Jane Shepard was dead.

And believe me, that fic is about the most serious fic I've ever worked on.

So...:P

EDIT: Collider, there's no way your fanfiction can be as bad as mine. Please, post it! I'm curious! :D

That was funny in one you wrote about the elevators: something like, "Why didn't they make these things faster?" and waiting 37 seconds while watching the tiny diagram. LOL

I have a Vanguard NG+ playthrough that I haven't finished yet... not because I keep delaying it though. I still can't find the Xbox controller. xD It'll be in the last place I look, I just know it. Anyway, I was having a lot of fun with the battles after I figured out that my Vanguard can make levitating, flaming geth.

And just to make this Garrus related - as soon as I find that controller, my Vanguard is going to talk to Garrus and take him to Therum.

The Widow is too powerful. It's like being my own Biotic God! Fear me! I am a great wind that will snipe this battlefield like... like a great wind! A great Widow wind!

Its use is probably why I was so reluctant to bother with heavy weapons because I saw little need. But I've grown to love the Avalanche and Arc Projector. Still, YMIR mech + Widow headshot = glory.

The Locust with cryo is my other main weapon, though. Squad cryo so everyone can get in the shattering fun. And you haven't really taken down the Thresher Maw or Praetorians until you take them down with just an SMG.

Garrus would think me a sacriligeous sniper, I suppose.

I like how someone can write a novel in this thread on a completely unrelated subject, but on the very last line say "oh yeah, and Garrus."

No really, I find it amusing and just did it myself.

Also, I like to leave this here every 100 pages or so, 'cause it's so pretty:
