Thane's rejection didn't feel too bad. It felt more like femShep was telling Thane that he's just worked up over the suicide mission, rather than straight up rejection.

Garrus though...I just can't do that. I can't watch the thing. He went through all that effort and... :(

And he's a bro. Can't watch a friend like that be crushed. Just ain't healthy.

Tali's rejection is really sad too. Not as bad as Garrus', but just like Garrus' I'd rather never watch her rejection scene again.

With Thane I guess it's only gut-wrenching if you consider how accepting him plays out. The guy is a nervous wreck in that moment who desperately needs some help and comfort. He's just too collected and mellow to show it and saying "you've just got the heebie-jeebies" is rough, oblivious brushing off of his emotions. And then he THANKS you for it. Yikes. It looks soft, but what's underneath is nasty stuff.

Thanks Chimervera - I shall give it a go.First attempt at modding will either be great success or be a horrible, horrible awkwardness thing....

And I also FINALLY finished my 2nd RT with Celene Shep and (after much backtracking) managed to save Jack. Whoop whoop! Everyone survived:innocent:  The other ending with the coffin was just too:( and I love all of the characters too much (yes, even the Priiiize in his own 'special' bland little way) to have anyone die on me.

I know this is an old topic but Garrus is a brilliant leader for the other teams IMHO. He never says he is struggling in any way; just 'great shot 'and 'we're fine'..Anyone who questioned his ability to lead needs to run through the SM again and listen to his badassery. He rocks!  Such a dilemma as I like having him at my side as well.

It may be only me but I just can't not paragon the choices - I do have a little red (the moral choices are sometimes ambiguous and I don't always agree that Bioware called them correctly <_<) but I always find I just cant be MEAN. I have come to the conclusion that I will also never gain Zaaed's loyalty achievement because I just can't let those factory workers burn. I mean I do try...I stare at the wheel for ages willing it to Renegade...but...

I am a lost cause!

Oh and some more Garrus!

Tali I think handles her rejection the best out of all of them. Garrus tries to take the rejection as smoothly as she did, but his body language is just... heartbreaking.

I don't like seeing Jack's rejection either. It's a return to douchebag renegade Shepard. She'll never trust anyone ever again now.

Come to think of it... I haven't seen a Miranda rejection yet.

You can still gain Zaeed's loyalty even if you take the Paragon route. Need to meet the morality check for it, though. Easier to do the sooner you do the mission, I think.

Another only vaguely related topic. Has anybody else noticed that the femshep LIs are all uber collected and not confrontational while the dudeshep LIs are kinda the opposite (minus Liara)

Really?  Why would it get harder later?

I agree with Collider, Thane's rejection didn't feel bad to me at all. It's a miscommunication in my eyes. I haven't tried it, but does the romance continue after that?

And Jack's rejection is still the worst in my opinion :crying:

I've always let the poor buggers burn - even on my paragon runs. I'm going to have to try a proper paragon conclusion to that quest but the way I see it is Vido is going to cause a lot more death and heartache if he goes free (similar to letting the hostages die in order to bring the terrorists to justice in Bring Down the Sky).
Anyway, just popped in here because finally, after umpteen games, Bioware have finally got me to squee over a romance. Garrus was by far my favourite companion in ME1, and so now, well...Posted Image

I didn't watch any of the rejection scenes either, not even "for science". ): I've only seen a few screenshots of the Garrus rejection.

I was just about to ask how the suicide mission went, and this post answered that. xD Glad to know everyone made it out alive.

Zaeed's loyalty can be gained through Paragon options... I think Shepard punches him.

I just watched Tali's. Not nearly as rough as I pictured.

With Tali I think she was expecting that something would go wrong. After all she never dreamed that Shepard would like her in the first place, so she may still have her doubts that everything would go smoothly. When Shepard rejects her her suspicions are confirmed really.

It's still hard for me to watch because like Garrus Shepard strung them along only to reject them after they went through so much effort. Garrus' is the hardest of the two though, definitely.

I guess what really gets me on Garrus and Thane is that they both just took a gut-punch by they try to act all brave about it.

Yep - Garrus is crushed but tries to act like it's nothing.

Thanks, will do next RT.

On the Garrus or Thane breakup scenes - they are both heartwrenching for me. I did them in the interest of science and then quickly reloaded, trying not to feel like a completely horrible person. Both, in my view, are extremely hurt and disappointed. Garrus leaving with his bottle of wine and heart crushed. Thane having had so much tragedy in his life, then to have that one hope taken from him as well :crying:  I had a huge sad after both and now would not even consider it as an option.

Perhaps I just read too much into it...

Out of curiosity, we know Jacob has a tantrum and calls Garrus a cuttlebone - does anyone know what he calls Thane in same situation?

Jacob's rejection scene is kind of hilarious. He gets pissed off because he doesn't get any sex.

Yea, I just watched the Jacob rejection scene.  THREE times?  But if you reject him the first time it looks like femshep is brushing all that ridiculous "PRIIIIZE and heavy risk" crap out the door.  Then you get the notorious "I love you" and then it's possible to accept him.  If you were to go that route I think it might actually make the Jacob romance a little more palatable.  I have yet to do a full one.  I've tried several times in the name of science but my nosebleeds always get so bad about half way through that I can't manage it.

Rejecting Jacob is kind of a dick move anyway, though. I mean, sure, they're all dick moves, but you've worked SO HARD to get Jacob to open up, being coy and provocative with every greeting, practically panting at every flirtation, and when he finally responds to all your shameless bone-jumping, you tell him to go back to his cabin. I'd be pissed off if I were Jacob, too.

Never really feels like Jacob actually loved femShep, from what I've seen. Instead the whole thing feels much more casual and more like a booty call from the start. Especially with that voice with femshep. And  the cheesy porno dialog. He seems more like a sexual predator than someone coming up to the quarters of someone he loves to spend what could be the last night with her.

I kind of agree with Ray though that femshep's initial behavior kinda give Jacob a bad start. The instant the word "fraternization" got dropped I started panicking on my first playthrough because I wanted to romance Garrus and I was like "on no, not the Kaidan trap again!" But if you play a dudeshep Jacob says the exact same thing there. He doesn't mean it in a sexual way at all. It's just how the heck is the player supposed to know that? I got really guarded around him after that and everything femshep said seemed like a come-on. I could never give the man a fair shake afterwards. When you combine that with his regrettable line in the romance scene it really does paint a bad picture. If the rest of the romance was more mellow that line might could have been played off as him being silly instead of sleazy. I don't think he meant it to be sleazy, but it's really hard not to take it that way.

Yeah, it seems creepy on its own, but considering the tone femShep has already set, it fits right in. Still, I wish he had been smiling or something instead of just staring at her, dead-eyed and emotionless as he hisses "look at this..."

True, I watched the romance scene without watching the romance conversations (I did watch some of them afterwards though). But those priiize lines are still pretty bad.

That's good to know. After about two conversations, I stopped talking to him with my FemShep because I thought it would mess up the Garrus romance later on.

The rule with Jacob is don't pick the "paragon" options.  Pick the neutral middle ones and you should be fine.  Then he treats you just like dudeshep.
