Another good one has been half posted today called Acceptable Loss. The prompt was: Shep has romanced Kaidan, then later Thane. But, not long after returning from the Collector base, Thane dies and she is devastated. Garrus is there to comfort her, just like he comforted her after Horizon/death of Kaidan on Virmire (whichever you want). She's infinitely grateful... until she notices the lingering touches, longing looks, etc. Turns out he's been in love with her all this time, but kept stepping aside, thinking he would just screw up and he should be grateful she was at least a part of his life, especially after she came back from the dead. And she would never be interested in him anyway. No matter how much it hurt to see her with someone else.

It's so incredibly sad. It's not finished yet but.. guh. SO awesome. Any angst-junkies should check it out here here (it is a bit explicit at parts though, so steer away if you don't like that sort of thing).

Fail for the Lost is a parody, I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. Miranda is one of my favorite characters in-game, but in Fail for the Lost, every squaddie is an idiot. Even Garrus (There, I said it) gets hit with the idiot stick hard, especially
in future chapters (And DEFINITELY worse than Miranda. FAR WORSE).

Still, I understand where you're coming from.  Please don't think I'm a Miranda hater, I love every character (except Morinth, but that's because she tried to fry my Shep's brain).

OK, so watching Top Gun, and doing my usual thing of recasting it with ME characters, and it hit me: Garrus as Maverick. Yes.



In fact, set Top Gun on Palaven and make it part of Garrus' origin story, and you have yourself a winner.

Hey, no problem. I'd be pretty pissed off too if someone did stuff like that to my favorite character and if it wasn't a parody.

By the way, speaking of Miranda, I did the suicide mission last night without having talked to her after her loyalty mission. I took her and Garrus to kill the human Reaper, and she left Cerberus.

Resulting in Miranda telling me that "Cerberus isn't as bad as most people believe" right after she left the organization herself.

It was quite funny to hear.

While it does look cool, I refuse to let any of my teammates wear Cerberus colours. Cerberus sucks.

By now I feel kinda guilty for mentioning it.
Earlier today I was thinking I'm completely torn about it--exactly 50% of me fervently wishes I'd never seen that story at all, and exactly 50% is very, very glad I read it.  The combination of emotions is unique for me.

Don't feel bad, it was very well written.  It's just him losing her again, even if it was after a hundred years of being together.   My husband's grandfather died a few years ago, about two years after their 50th wedding anniversary.  Even now, his wife, my husband's grandmother, acts like she's half a person.   Maybe the fact that Shep and Garrus, or my husband's grandparents,  were together so long is what makes that hard.   And I think the author captured that well.  Two years or a hundred.... that's one awful separation.

After all, Johnny Cash only outlived June Carter Cash for a few months.

And I still have to write a FemShepxHanar fic that got requested a while ago.

I might need extensive amounts of brain bleach after writing that. 

Really, some pairings I get requests for are kind of cute ("You humans are all racist!" turian/the customs officer he's arguing with, MaleShep/Mordin (not that hard to pull this pairing off, just have to stay true to salarian anatomy and customs), etc.).

But then I got a FemShepxRonald Taylor request.

I really get the feeling Garrus's dad was kind of an absent father.

Going over the conversation with him again about him being in C-Sec, and he says something like how his dad was hot stuff in C-Sec, growing up seeing his picture on all the vids.



Def get the feeling his pop wasn't there when he was growing up. At least not like a "normal" dad. More like a military one almost? (Speaking as a Navy Brat. XD)
