I've never very much liked the whole support thread thing to be honest... I mean sure it's great to have threads for characters you like but I feel as if it is dividing the community. It's like each support thread is it's own seperate clan. The members of the Tali clan (Tali-ban) keep peace with the Miranda clan (Miridians) but neither one dares to roam into the others thread lest all hell break loose. The Ash clan and Kaidan (Kaidanites) clan have long held a pact, but there is still a subtle rivalry among them. Then there is the Liara, Garrus, Samara, Thane and Jack clan... and perhaps even hints of the start of a Shiala clan. The last thing either wants is war.

I dislike that I basically have to "belong" to one of these clans or else I really have no sway on the forums... I have to belong somewhere or else people will not be interested in an in-depth discussion. Is it not possible for a person to like all or none of the squadmembers? It is dividing way the forum way too much IMO and is taking up the campaign quests and storylines forum which I would have thought would be reserved for actual questions about the story...

I agree with this statement

By all means, move the threads to their own forums, but as far as I can tell, people take the whole 'character support thing too seriously. I like this thread. We have a good time. I don't think anyone forces anyone else to 'belong' to any thread or group. I just find that most of the time, this thread is where I find like minded people. I do see the point in that post, but at the same time I don't understand why it was posted here. Ecael has started at thread for the movement of the character threads somewhere else. I don't think scrapping thme compeltely is the eay to go, because then people will just spam other threads with these types of chracter discussions. I think the term 'support' thread puts people off, tbh. For example, when I first came here, I interpreted it as 'we are being supported in our love of Garrus', not 'OMG - Garrus is the only character! Give him all your love!' It actually took about a week before it clicked for me, and then I thought 'meh, it's probably a convention or something'.

Also, the forum gets devided because of the minority. And sadly, the internet gives ****s free range to be ****s a lot of the time. I don't think any of the regulars here have any animosity towards any of the other 'groups'. But then, I seldom go onto the other fan threads, and troll threads annoy me, so it's hard to say.

So, back to topic. Anyone else notice how keen Garrus is to go gambling in Flux in ME1? I wouldn't have put him down for a betting man, but there you go.

While I do kind of agree with you, was it really necessary to post this in every support thread?

I think organizing the support threads into one character forum will create a better sense of solidarity between people who like a character or people who like several or all the characters. Right now, the forum looks like a bunch of support threads fighting for the first page, compelling people to post even when they don't have much to say.

It fosters a sense of competition between support threads that isn't really necessary on these forums.

Making a thread would make better sense then posting in several different threads. And no, most of us are not trying to act like we are a bunch of clansman out to troll other character threads...despite the fact that we call ourselves "clan vakarian" but thats besides the point.

And really its only the lose nuts that go around and try to "wage war" against other character support threads.

Chris Priestly's the one person who decides which forums go where. Unless they forgot the administrator password or something.

I agree that the posting because "we have to keep the thread on the first page" stuff can be rather annoying. Not sure if that would solve the problem, but as I've said before I fully support creating a sub-forum.

Well hello, haven't seen you around much in these neck of the woods. And yeah i think having a seperate character support forum would make more sense. Though thats not going to solve the main problem of people trolling other character threads while defending their favorites.

So... why is it that I can barely hear Garrus in ME1, yet, even when I keep the volume at the same level, it almost sounds like he's yelling in ME2?

ME1's sound engine was flawed.

Man, their lighting engine (if there is such a thing) musta been too, then.  I'm replaying it right now and the ghastly shadows on the characters during some conversations look like they literally have a flashlight under their chins and they're saying, "Hey keeds!  do you want to see something reeeally scaaary??  Muahahaha!" LOL

The texture-drop-in-thing is something else I'm immensely grateful they fixed in ME2.  Immersion-breaker, anyone?

I actually only really have time to visit this one and the Kaidan thread with any depth and maybe the Thane thread, and occasionally, lurking on the Ash and Miranda threads. I'm not even going to try to keep up with the Tali thread.

Really? I never noticed that one. I felt compelled to go gambling in Flux though, to uphold the great Australian tradition. It's often said that we'll gamble on anything, from two flies crawling up a wall, to the Melbourne Cup (which is a bigger public holiday than Australia Day).
So I'll gladly go gambling with Garrus. After all, if I lose too many credits I can always reload ;)

I agree. But I don't think that (certainly from my POV) most people are posting on their thread because it *has* to be on top. For myself, this thread tends to be where the discussion I'm interested in is happening, so it's where I tend to post.

I also don;t think that getting annoyed at the fan threads or the posters therein is productive: we can't help the way the forum is structured any more than anyone else (not yourself, Ecael. But there are a lot of 'i hate the the support threads' threads. Fine. Consolidate and approach the devs,)

But this discussion is better reserved for one of the many threads
on this topic already in existance.

Oh, also, the Clan Vakarian thing started as an in-joke, and grew into a banner phenomenon which I know I use because it makes me laugh. It's not meant ot be devisive. Never thought it could be taken that way before.

What was funny about the quest with gambling is that I kept on losing and barely uploaded the data, yet I got caught by the volus owner. I've lost lots of money on high gambling. But you can always go loot and sell all the junk you gather.

I can't remember the exact wording, but on the wards, he says  either "Not much crime here. Probably because it's so close to the C-Sec Academy" or something akin to "If you like gambling we should head over to Flux."

Maybe he loved Flux so much, and that's why it's the Flux music he chooses for your romance.

Memo to self: don't read good but sad fanfic (i.e. "Hundred Years' Distance") if you live in an area that's been pissing with rain and tornadoes all week (constant grey skies just wear me down after a while. That, and being scared to sleep in case I don't hear the tornado sirens for a couple of days after my neighbors' farms got ripped up... yeah, I really should move, I know). Thankfully, that Shep/hanar crackfic had me laughing so hard that my dog was staring at me for at least a minute.

Hopefully, I'll come up with something creative/amusing for this thread in the near future. Best I can do right now is say "Thanks for posting great stuff" and go back to lurking. :)
