Memo to self: don't read good but sad fanfic (i.e. "Hundred Years' Distance") if you live in an area that's been pissing with rain and tornadoes all week (constant grey skies just wear me down after a while. That, and being scared to sleep in case I don't hear the tornado sirens for a couple of days after my neighbors' farms got ripped up... yeah, I really should move, I know). Thankfully, that Shep/hanar crackfic had me laughing so hard that my dog was staring at me for at least a minute.

Hopefully, I'll come up with something creative/amusing for this thread in the near future. Best I can do right now is say "Thanks for posting great stuff" and go back to lurking. :)

I hate reading fanfics like that, its beautiful but it leaves such a horrible feeling that no one wants to feel. especially when you just wake up, sheesh.

I couldn't stop myself from looting, even in the middle of fights and then reduce everything to omni-gel because my inventory was full. I had so much junk on me, I kept it telling myself that maybe I will wear it, even when I maxed my character and didn't need to use low lvl armour.

I'm glad they replaced it with the upgrades.

I read the Hundred Years Distance, and felt like a bad person, because while I found it sad I did not cry, but instead contemplated the trial and error in the beginning, and the manner they went about testing the level of allergy. Then I thought this:

INT Day. Shepard’s cabin.

Shepard is in her cabin. Her face is swollen and red. Garrus is sitting next to her on the sofa, looking guilty. Mordin is examining her head.

Shepard: Oh my god! So embarrassed.
Garrus: Sorry, Shepard. I knew this was a bad idea.
Shepard: Did you see them? They were judging us.
Garrus: They couldn’t have known -
Shepard: They knew. Oh, they knew.
Mordin: Mild anaphylactic shock is not life threatening. You were lucky.
Shepard: Lucky? My face has swollen up like a haanar on helium, and thanks to you and Chakwas being …wherever the hell you were, half the citadel saw me running for the med-clinic wearing nothing but a sports bra and a pair of khakis! You call that lucky?
Garrus: What did you tell the clinic?
Shepard: I had a nut allergy. It was the best I could think of to - STOP LAUGHING MORDIN!
Mordin: I wasn’t laughing. Medical concerns are a very serious -
Shepard: I can see you grinning!
Mordin: I tried to warn you, Commander. I told you not to ingest -
Shepard: You also told me snogging Thane would get me tripping, and that was a big fat bust. So naturally, this time I thought you were kidding. But no! God. I’m going to have to check myself for bugs now, aren’t I? Damn you and your weird salarian sense of humor.
Mordin: Incidentally, did you have the opportunity to view those vids?
Shepard: Oh, thanks for reminding me. I’m going to kick your ass for that Trichophilia one. Garrus bought a wig. A ginger wig! It was horrific. Was that a ‘joke’ too?

Garrus looks embarrassed.

Shepard: And you have no idea how close I was to costuming up after that weird turian varren-fetish thing you sent me. Very funny, Mordin.
Garrus: Well actually, I-

Mordin stifles a laugh.

Shepard: OK! That is it. No more science for you for 2 weeks, Mordin. You’re grounded.
Mordin: But-
Shepard: You wanna make it 3, mister?
Mordin: ….No. I’m sorry, Commander.
Shepard: Too late for sorry, Mordin. Damn! I think my face is getting bigger again.
Modrin: Shall I - shall I get you some more cortisone, Commander?
Shepard: I think you had better.

Mordin leaves.

Garrus:….You snogged Thane?

Sorry, again.. This is what comes of Happy Hour. Blamce Garrus. He brought the wine!

(excellent fic though. Nice angle on it. I never picture Shepard growing old either. Always figured she'd get blown up taking out a renegade mech factory, or somesuch)

I wonder how much we'll be able to influence the ending. For some players, they may want their Shepard to retire, for other players they may want Shepard to defeat the Reapers but keep fighting the good fight.

Shepard's a spectre and he/she has responsibilties going around a spectreing people's arses. And i want garrus to be at his/her side. That is...what he wants. Right?

I'm hoping there will be a good selection of endings available in ME3. It would seem silly to have so many different paths and choices, for it all to boil down to one destination.

Oh and y'all sadness is delicious.
*Laugh maniacly,
lapping up tears*

It was even sadder than the Tali one I read where Shepard dies at the beginning and she takes off her suit so she can feel the grass and the breeze on her face at the end because she has no reason to live anymore.
Yeah, it's sad. Posted Image

I would definitely want a femShep romancing Garrus playthrough to keep fighting alongside him after the Reapers are done with. But with other love interests or playthroughs I don't think that would work. Maybe they will keep the ending ambiguous so you can imagine whatever you want for your Shepard. Or they could do it like DA:O - Leliana I believe asks you what you want to do since the blight is gone and all that, IIRC.

Sure, what's it called?

I think "Hundred Years' Distance" is great.  Yeah, it's sad, but when a fictional story can create real-life emotion in people, that' s some powerful writing right there.

I think about my maternal grandmother, and her frustration iin her 90s that her body was failing and she couldn't be as independent as she used to be (she was widowed from an abusive husband at 62 and raised me starting at 65, imagine being a mom at 65...)

And I think about my paternal grandparents who were married for 76 years and my grandfather after he lost his wife and how hollow he was without her.

Those kind of real world connections are what make that story so powerful.

So, back to topic. Anyone else notice how keen Garrus is to go gambling in Flux in ME1? I wouldn't have put him down for a betting man, but there you go.

Really? I never noticed that one. I felt compelled to go gambling in Flux though, to uphold the great Australian tradition. It's often said that we'll gamble on anything, from two flies crawling up a wall, to the Melbourne Cup (which is a bigger public holiday than Australia Day).
So I'll gladly go gambling with Garrus. After all, if I lose too many credits I can always reload ;)

Always bet on blue.

I can't remember the exact wording, but on the wards, he says  either "Not much crime here. Probably because it's so close to the C-Sec Academy" or something akin to "If you like gambling we should head over to Flux."

Maybe he loved Flux so much, and that's why it's the Flux music he chooses for your romance.

"if you're feeling lucky, we should head over to the casino."

Well hello, haven't seen you around much in these neck of the woods. And yeah i think having a seperate character support forum would make more sense. Though thats not going to solve the main problem of people trolling other character threads while defending their favorites.

Here's the thing though - since they're technically BioWare-officiated threads, they could threaten to shut down all 17 squadmate threads (or just ban the offenders from the forum altogether) if the trolling becomes bad.

The threat alone will keep people in place, and they can't make new support threads because those *are* the official support threads.

Seriously, I hope the tornado threats let up...I know we get them around here on occasion, and it's scary.

I've never very much liked the whole support thread thing to be honest... I mean sure it's great to have threads for characters you like but I feel as if it is dividing the community. It's like each support thread is it's own seperate clan. The members of the Tali clan (Tali-ban) keep peace with the Miranda clan (Miridians) but neither one dares to roam into the others thread lest all hell break loose. The Ash clan and Kaidan (Kaidanites) clan have long held a pact, but there is still a subtle rivalry among them. Then there is the Liara, Garrus, Samara, Thane and Jack clan... and perhaps even hints of the start of a Shiala clan. The last thing either wants is war.

I dislike that I basically have to "belong" to one of these clans or else I really have no sway on the forums... I have to belong somewhere or else people will not be interested in an in-depth discussion. Is it not possible for a person to like all or none of the squadmembers? It is dividing way the forum way too much IMO and is taking up the campaign quests and storylines forum which I would have thought would be reserved for actual questions about the story...

(late to the party as always, but I wanted to reply to this)

I'm only active in the Garrus thread, so I can't speak for other threads, but I feel nothing of this supposed 'rivalry'. I post in this thread because Garrus is the only character I like to have in-depth discussions about, not because I don't like the other characters. Everyone is welcome to come in and propose a topic, we will discuss it. You don't have to 'belong here' or be a 'regular' to be taken seriously. I can't be sure because I never post/lurk in other character threads, but I think everyone is welcome to drop by and discuss the character in the other threads, as long as you do it in a normal and polite way. There's not going to be a flamewar unless you jump in with a hate post.

That said, I still agree that there should be a subforum for all these support threads. There are a lot of interesting topics that drop down to the second page or even lower, because of all the support threads.

Brandon Keener in Full Frontal. Once again, he plays a character who is uncomfortable talking about relationships.

In a voice that sounds like adolescent Garrus! XD

Sorry, slightly OT there.

@kglasser Yes... I wondered about that one. lol

I love Tali's as well, it's cute as hell and ethnic too.

Garrus has a cool, growly voice. Like Batman. So many ways he's like Batman.
