Pac, really, if they wanted to move the support threads, why not move them into the Character forums? If I were a brand new person to the place, I'd probably search there first to get some questions answered.

If you look at the description of the character forums from the forum home menu and then look at the description of the character forums from the post Chris Priestly stickied on the actual character forum, you'll notice two completely different intentions for that forum. As it is, it's firmly entrenched as a character builds forum. I get the impression anyone who suggests this particular move hasn't actually spent time in that forum.

In any case, any development of new forums is entirely Chris Priestly's move. Or Woo's, maybe. I did ask once about their opinion on the character support threads. The answer satisfied me well enough, but if people are going to bring up the topic, I'm going to give my opinion on the matter.

ETA: I suppose I should clarify I didn't ask their opinion on the what they thought of support threads, but their opinion about keeping them around.

So, about that Earthborn quest, is there a way for Shepard to just kill Finch without turning him in? Turning him in would work fine for some of my Earthborns, but some just wouldn't turn someone in to the cops... it's not their style. It seems a little strange coming from a former gang member too.

What's this bit about turning Finch in?  I don't "turn" him in, he just shows up when I say "Nevermind" and starts going on and on about how he's gonna use Shepard's past to blackmail her, blah blah *BANG*!

I shot him.  Seemed like the thing my Shep would do.  Also probably means I won't get an email. XD  Cause both Finch and the original prisoner are now no longer in communication, sorta speak. Oo

I only played through that mission once, and it was several months ago, so I don't remember all of the options - just one to help the guy out, and one to tell the turian officer. I think there might be an option to kill him in front of the turian (and he approves), but I didn't remember if it was possible for Shepard to kill Finch in that first scene when he shows up. Good to know.

I also don't remember if the squadmates get any special dialogue for this... It seems like Garrus should object if Shepard helps an anti-alien gang member break out of prison (or C-Sec, or wherever he is), but maybe they just keep quiet about the whole thing. xD

No, I realize that the title of that forum is slightly ridiculously misleading. I was suggesting as more that if they wanted to move the support threads, they could EXPAND upon that description to include things like the characters from the game, and not just Shepards.

And wasn't Priestly the one that abjectly hates any and all things to do with the romances? Or was that me misreading things?

Yea, everyone's gonna give their ops on it. Mine is thus:

I don't care, I'll do what I want. :P Or something along those lines.

Guuuuuuys, I'm out of Baileys. This does not bode well. -.-

So, back to topic. Anyone else notice how keen Garrus is to go gambling in Flux in ME1? I wouldn't have put him down for a betting man, but there you go.

Really? I never noticed that one. I felt compelled to go gambling in Flux though, to uphold the great Australian tradition. It's often said that we'll gamble on anything, from two flies crawling up a wall, to the Melbourne Cup (which is a bigger public holiday than Australia Day).
So I'll gladly go gambling with Garrus. After all, if I lose too many credits I can always reload ;)

Always bet on blue.
(Sorry, obscure "Passenger 57 ref there.  Posted Image)

Wow, for once I'm actually understanding the movie/TV show references. Passenger 57 and Avatar both in the last few pages. (It actually took me a few seconds to understand that joke the first time I heard it. xD I thought they were talking about Russian Roulette, not gambling.)

I think the Garrus quote was, "If you feel lucky, we should visit the casino over in Flux." Something like that. He says it if you click on him enough times in the Citadel/Wards. Also, I'm pretty sure his quote about the music had to do with the keepers staying away from the clubs because there's too much noise or they don't like the music.

Anyway, I did pretty well with that game in the casino (quasar?) a few times.

I will now spend a ridiculous amount of words detailing my viewpoint. *snip*

This thread covers pretty much everything Garrus related, from discussion about turian culture to movies of Brandon Keener (heh heh). We discuss turian culture here because it stems from Garrus-relatedness, and in the end we apply it to Garrus again. Posting a turian-related topic in this thread is taking the easy way: you know people are interested in it and most of us here have read the Wiki a thousand times. You just know people who respond to your questions will really think about it. If I want the opinion of others, I can always start a new topic, but the answers in this thread are incredibly satisfying, so I don't feel the need for that. If I want to know something asari-related, I can always go into the Liara/Samara thread, because they are the 'asari experts' while we are the 'turian experts'.

I think the Tali thread is an exception to that, because it has a huge amount of posters at the same time. You can ask a question, but it soon gets buried in pics and other discussions already going on. If I want to know something Tali/quarian-related, I can always PM one of the Talifans the question or start a new topic. The other threads travel at a more comfortable pace, so the trouble of scanning posts for an answer to your question is almost non-existent.

Again, I don't feel a thing of that rivalry, apart from polls or that Survivor game a while back. Of course everyone think their support thread is the best, and I would be lying if I said I didn't think the Garrus thread is the best. But that's because I don't post or lurk in other character threads and because this thread is about the character I like most. I feel at home in the Garrus thread, while the Kaidanites feel at home in the Kaidan thread etc. Each to their own, I don't mind it.

Sometimes we discuss other characters, but that's a tiny part of this thread. We never go in deep when we're discussing other characters, and it's unlikely that we're coming up with new ideas that the other supporters never thought of. This is still the Garrus thread, if I really want to know more about Miranda I'll visit her thread.

Ehh... that is all :wizard:.

So... Garrus?

It occurs to me that for the ridiculous amount of words I posted, there was only one point that mattered to me, which was the first one I made. Everything else was kind of ancillary to that.

Hey Garrus fans! I've just only finished ME2, and Garrus has officially become my favourite character, though he was not as interesting in ME1, in comparison to him in ME2.

So... Garrus?

Moar sexy turian to go to sleep too?  Sure!  (Just got done sacrifiing the hostages to let the batarian die a slow painful death :P)
There's a pic that's not really Garrus related except that it's a pic I took of Steph Shep during his LM...
I reeeeeeeeeeally like it when you can catch some non-durrrr facial expressions on Shep.  Too awesome.

Garrus and Wrex were in my main team as well in me1. However, Garrus skillset in me1 was really bad when I played higher than normal level (he keeps dying on me until I got him around level 30 and in the meantime, Wrex and I had to hold off the enemies). I prefer Garrus' skillset in me2, as Sniper rifle + Concussive Shot = win, as well as not dying so quickly.

Plus, Garrus has the best one-liners in the game. Always spouting how he loved his rifle. :P

Welcome to the club ;)

I have to say, I rarely used powers in ME1. I don't know why. In ME2 I use them a lot. FIRING HIGH IMPACT SHOT!

Cuz ME2's gameplay is better. Nearly everything about ME2 is better.

True dat. Still, some people will disagree with that :P

In ME1, I could easily play without using powers. In ME2, I actually like using powers. Job well done, BW.

And of course there's Garrus.

There's parts of ME2's gameplay I prefer (hacking, combat, general streamlining, more specific squad commands), things I dislike (no gun wobble - even shooters have this), and things I don't care strongly about one way or another (heat clips). I think I'm also one of the few people who thought the planet scanning was at leaset initially fun (though eventually far too repetetive).

Overall, I do like ME2 better.

I mean the low level of recoil and the fact that when using a sniper, for instance, the thing's as still as a corpse. It feels artificial and weird to me.

Yes. Yes, he is.

(MordinxGarrusxSarenxFemShep pairing ftw!) ;)

Now THAT'S the test of a good crackfic.  Xsause, do you have a dog to do your betas?
Seriously, I hope the tornado threats let up...I know we get them around here on occasion, and it's scary.

Hehe, no. I never let anyone beta-read my fanfics, in fact. It's not like I'm arrogant or something, it's just that I'm...well, kinda scared for bad criticism when the fic I'm writing isn't intentionally bad.

Alright, don't know if I posted this before, but I heard a song today that kind of fits Garrus & femShep. The song is called No Surrender, and can be found here. I like the (one time) duet too, it's not completely flawless, but she is an actress after all ;)

Yay, Dutch artists!

And now that we're talking about Kane, Rain Down On Me is also kind of fitting for Garrus & FemShep.

I hated the recoil, especially for the sniper rifle. If I play an infritrator, I always max up my SR, since that's the only time it's tolerable.

I haven't gone through the GarrusxFemShep romance yet, but I can imagine what the romance is like. I'll try on my next playthrough. My friend's been egging me try Garrus' romance, but it would be some time yet.

Although I never could imagine that Garrus could be a romance option in ME2, as I only found out when my friend showed me the modded ManShep/Garrus cuddle scene  and told me that it was originally for Femshep.

Slow inDutchrination of the Garrus thread :bandit:. Not a Kane fan myself, but I heard that song and thought... hey, Garrus!

@ Alexine: You like Garrus, so you'll love his romance too ;). Of course I'm biased :P. It's a very nice romance. Let us know what you thought about it when you've done it!
