@Ray. That's pretty good. I know I lolled.

Still for my daily masskink-lol-fix, I favor Day of the Tenticle.

Yes, I know it was recent. But it makes me laugh so damn much.

On that note... night (morning) all. -_-

Are you trying to tell us something?!?!

I want the proper link, damn it, especially with such a winning title.  Day of the Tentacle was one of the first (and best) games I ever played!

I used to play MUDs where the concept of the save game was nonexistent. Any progress you made in the game had to be done in one session without logging out. Imagine a bunch of college students entering the computer labs at 5 pm on Friday only to come stumbling out for the first time at 8 am the next Monday so they could get to their first class.

Sleep, janeym27. Save your soul. -_-

I was going to mention that in this day and age "Day of the Tentacle" probably has a different connotation than it did in the early 90s. Nevermind, I'm forgetting that scene in Evil Dead. Okay, it never had an innocent connotation.

"I don't think you should drink that. It looks bad for you."
"Nonsense! I feel great! Stronger! More aggressive. I feel like... I could TAKE ON THE WORLD!"

Tali has never exactly been shy about her feelings for Shep

I don't think I agree with that. She's been shy about her feelings about male Shepard the whole time. She does say that she's attracted to him when he asks, but by then she already knows that he knows, so there's little use in denying it. I

I admit she's shy to an extent and certainly there's evidence she was crushing on Shep before his death over Alchera. But when Shepard asks "are you implying something?" he could be genuinely curious (it is an option, you can also read it as him knowing or suspecting) so she's still taking a slight risk.

But I'll grant that she's not exactly up front and completely open about it.

Garrus, is much the same way, though I think he's less aware of his feelings as such, even after Shepard recruits him. Tali may have taken some time to come to terms with what she felt, but it came much more quickly to her than Garrus, that's for sure. In a sense, it may be that one could say Tali was more willing to be true to herself about her feelings, while Garrus tried to lie to himself.

Without context, I just realized that last paragraph sounds like we're shipping Tali and Garrus.

Dangerous to anthropormorphize alien species and thinking, but I'm going to go with Tali being far better in touch with her feelings because she's a girl and Garrus being oblivious because he's a bloke.

Yes, I'm sexist like that.

Hey Clan V - this was on the Solidarity thread and was too funny (well, I thought it was) not to share:

Nightwriter said...
Everyone already knows my answer. No fun! More fun needed!

So
here's an analysis of what all the returning romance arcs will be like
for me!

Ashley - You owe me an explanation for acting like that.

Kaidan
- You owe me an explanation for acting like Ashley.

Thane -
Please don't be dead. You're too sexy to die.

Liara - I'm still
waiting for reasons why you acted like a complete and total nut - what?
You found the Shadow Broker? ... It was a fellow named Mac Walters? Oh
my God. It all becomes clear.

Garrus - Seriously, I love you,
let’s fix your face. And your armor. With our future technology. From
the future. Then let’s go tell Dr. Michel we’re a couple. No reason.

Jack
- I'm so glad I taught you the meaning of trust and peace. Now let's go
kill the Illusive Man and unleash bloody vengeance on the Reapers! With
bombs!

Miranda - Maybe we can have sex in a bed this time? ...
What? Bed. It's the thing you sleep in. Why are you looking at me like
that? What do you mean, never heard of it? What do you mean, you were kept in a cryo
conception room your whole childhood?

Tali - It really makes me
feel guilty when you hack up blood like that.

Jacob - It was a
moment of weakness, I was curious, stop bugging me. Look, there's
Kasumi!

Oh (possibly):

Kelly - I knew it wasn’t you with
the scale itch. But what’s this growth on my face?

Morinth -
What, I come back from the dead once and you think I can't do it again,
b*tch?! Wtf?!! Do you have any idea what I had to endure from Miranda
when she had to bring me back this time around?! I don’t even have sex organs this time! She said
I'm not allowed to keep them if I can’t use them responsibly!

Honestly, wine just about shot out my nose! It burns...it burns... And sorry if I am way off topic, I am still trying to catch up  - you guys have been busy.

And more Garrus

The only that barely seemed off-color to me was the Tali one, cause it seems a little mean-spirited. But still funny.

The others, however (particularly the Morinth one in my mind), are hilarious.

That last part was hilarious. xD At least my Evil Shepard will be smart enough to not get killed.

Also, I was reading more of Xsauce's fanfic... and Saren made a reference to one of my favorite songs! :D "Down With The Sickness." Shepard should play that on her omni-tool when she's killing mercs in the plague zone.

Hacking up blood? Sick? Sex? Weak immune system?

EDIT: On second thought, you may be joking.

That'd be one smoldering flame to hold for Garrus that long.

Then again, Tali and Garrus... They do have the excuse though that they spent more than a few minutes with Shepard.

Didn't really mean that. She can still be jealous because she liked Garrus when she first met him. I think it could make for some good romance specific dialog if she congratules Shepard for being with Garrus.

Why not? But I would rather let Shepard get his/her human hands on Tali or Garrus. Yeah, I'm shallow like that: I think of myself as the awesome Shepard who gets the handsome/pretty and exotic alien. Totaly Kaptain Kirk.
We should recruit Kalreegar (who is awesome and would be tempting to romance as Shepard. There I go Kirk again) and Garrus turian sparring partner (I would probably do the Kirk thing again with her too) so that the alien that doesn't get Shepard can get a sweetheart of their own. They certainly deserve that.

This is perhaps slightly out of topic but I think a Garrus thread deserved a bump.

For most guys it would be a little too long time yes. But this is Garrus Vakarian.

I've actually considered the idea before, but it almost universally gets shot down every time it comes up. I think they'd actually make a pretty good couple, though not as good as Shepard with either of them. But in a setting absent of a Shepard interested in Garrus or Tali, I can see them hooking up theoretically.

I think it's better than Kal'Reegar / Tali though (but then, I think Reegar, cool as he is, is highly overrated).

I agree with you. Reegar can be improved as a character with a little more story, perhaps even to the level of deserving Tali.
But it would a interesting new twist to the game for Shepard to play the role of Cupido between Tali, Garrus, Reegar and Garrus old flame. Choose the combination you prefer.

Ok, seeing all the talk about accidental ME1 romances, I want to offer a bit of help. Here is a method to keep your ME1 Shepard single while maintaining a friendly relationship with all 3 LIs (ie. not having to turn them down during the lockdown scene) AND getting all Codex entries from them, so you don't lose out on EXP:

1. For Kaidan and Ashley, their first convo (the post-Eden Prime chat and the Citadel chat don't count) will have an option which turns the romance off for good.

-Ashley: tell her that she's out of line when she comments that it might not be a good idea to allow the alien crewmembers full access to the ship. It's a single middle-left option on the wheel. Shepard will ask her if she always second-guesses her superiors. Yes, it's a little harsh, but a Shepard who isn't romancing her (ie. has no reason to be conciliatory with her) would realistically remind her of her place in a situation like that, because, well, she is out of line. You'll have the same convos with her as a FemShep would from then on, and interrupting her call with her sister will have the sister commenting that Kaidan is cute, rather than MaleShep. She'll also be calling you "Commander" rather than "skipper" at the end of her convos.

-Kaidan: definitely harsher than Ashley, but still the best option to let him down easy. In his first convo, he'll talk about his past for a bit, and then he'll say something along the lines of "sorry if I'm rambling". Pick the bottom-right option to have Shepard tell him that she "gave up waiting for the good part". Kaidan will apologize and never hit on her again. You'll have the same conversations with him as a MaleShep would from then on. He'll also be ending convos with "Commander" rather than "I'd like that".

2. Liara is a bit of a trap. Her turn-down is completely unambiguous, but getting to it is counterintuitive. And the problem is, you HAVE to turn her down to be completely safe: I've heard some people complaining about romancing her even though they only spoke to her once. So during your first convo with her, pick personal topics: she'll get embarrassed about studying you. Now this already makes it obvious that she's interested: I can understand why people wouldn't want to bring up personal topics after that. However, you HAVE to pick personal topics again for your second convo with her. She'll confirm her interest, and ask if there's something between you and Kaidan/Ashley. If you're not romancing them, pick the middle-right option to say that they're just friends. Liara will then ask if there's something between you and her: again, pick the middle-right option to have Shepard say "I'm not interested in you in that way". She'll be embarrassed again, but you can speak to her safely after that. She'll also be calling you "Commander" rather than "Shepard".

And I'm almost 100% certain that this is why the ME2 romances have Shepard acting like the proverbial ton o' bricks. It's definitely easier to navigate the ME2 romances, since they're almost entirely up to Shepard. Although I'd say Jacob and Jack are the exception. On my current MaleShep playthrough, I locked in Tali's romance, and, while speaking to Jack, turned down the casual sex with the middle-right option (ie. simply saying I wasn't looking for that), and later said I didn't have feelings for her either. However, the next convo I had with her was the "her or me" about Tali, which had me a bit confused. I reloaded, because I didn't want to be an ass, and have been avoiding her since. Guess it's impossible for a MaleShep to be simply friendly with Jack. While I understand why (she's not emotionally functional enough to deal with the middle-ground between "I wanna bang you and dump you" and "you are the love of my life"), I still think it's a bit of a shame. At least, while she wasn't buddy-buddy with FemShep, you could still have a grudging camaraderie with her.

As for Jacob, well, we all know by now that FemShep mysteriously transforms into a horny teenager as soon as she opens her mouth in front of him. Heck, even simply picking the "personal topics" option sounds like she's saying "hey there, stud". So while you may not even be turning the romance on, you might legitimately have doubts. By comparison, Miranda's, Thane's and Garrus' romance triggers are crystal clear and completely avoidable without detrimental consequences.

Concerning Kaidan as a romance choice: I didn't mind him. He was sweet enough, and I didn't think he was all that boring. But I've heard people say that BioWare might have been trying too hard to make him attractive: he's good-looking, dutiful, respectful, sensitive and kind, all the while having a tragic past and a 'damaged goods' aspect. However, he's very well-adjusted and even has a mildly flirty side (his "I'm looking forward to shore leave" comment made me giggle, I must admit). He could almost have a neon sign saying "I'm what every woman wants" above his head. But that's precisely what ends up being detrimental to him: he's almost too good to be true.

And one last thing: turians definitely have other eye-colours than green and blue. There's Lorik, whose eyes were yellow. And don't Li and Warden Kuril have black eyes? (or something very close to black)

Don't worry, this is a silly imaginary universe where brother and sister M!Shep and F!Shep haven't paired one another off with Tali and Garrus. :P

I think we all agree that Garrus and Tali are like brother and sister and a relationship between them would not make sense at all. Should be left at that really.

That totally ignores the fact, of course, that one can take Shepard's relationship with either to be very sibling-like.

Just saying.

I agree it's not the best match. But it makes more sense than a few.
