He'd have to sing for it though. (The movie, I mean.)
Garrus singing /swoon

That makes me wonder. What kind of music do you think people would listen to at that time?

How different would human music would be? I heard that asari loves human music.

How is turian, asari, krogan, salarian, batarian music different from humans?

I think going by Afterlife and the music thing, asari seem to have a fetish for humans, period.

Can you blame them? We look more like the asari than any other currently-known species.

They're going to steal all our men, you know.  [/tongue-in-cheek]

So?  That's what Turians and Drell are for.

Quarians will totally love Daft Punk.  Everybody will love Daft Punk.

According to ME1, Quarians are apparently keen on opera. Or were keen on opera. The Migrant Fleet rebellious youth likes daft punk and geth dance moves.

A capella singing isn't necessarily the same thing as opera. Assuming that that's what you're referring to.

I'm misremembering then. Was also thinking about Baria Frontiers rep on Illium who talks about how her mate enjoyed Quarian culture and felt they had old souls. Makes me think of a very classical music background.

Hmm...I was thinking something more along the lines of polyphonic choir type singing, maybe. Like traditional Georgian or Corsican songs.

I think I meant to say traditional music background. Not just your classical pieces, but your choral pieces as well.

But to get me thinking about Turians again, I think their music would be very industrial and initially harsh on the ears. Maybe it's because I'm translating their angular physique to their culture. It's also easy to think of them being limited to percussive instruments because their hands wouldn't be able to use our own wind/string instruments, but I think such instruments can be easily adapted to a different finger set. They could easily have a complex string instrument that can only be played by a species with three fingers and would completely flummox a human.

Actually, I was reading this book about the evolution of the modern musical notation. What we see today is very different from the depiction of chords, pitch, and harmony in antiquity. My knowledge of music is far too limited to start imagining where evolution can send you down alternate paths.

I know this was from several pages ago, but someone should really make a poll about people's reactions to the Consort/Shiala/Parasini flirting. xD I don't think my current MaleShep has to worry about Shiala (because he killed her) or Parasini (just a guess, because he doesn't help her out in ME1), but I don't think there's any way to keep the Consort off him unless he just ignores her sidequest.

As for the "which character would our Shepards leave Garrus for" discussion, I would just make another Shepard for new romance options. Unless we were only allowed to make one Shepard, and Saren was resurrected and a romance option like in Xsauce's fanfic, I don't think Garrus will have any competition. If TIM did resurrect Saren though... he would have a very amusing relationship with my MainShep where they both do favors for each other. TIM brings Shepard back to life, Shepard gives him the Collector base as a present. TIM brings Saren back to life, Shepard... helps him out again somehow. xD Like I said, none that are likely to happen.

I wasn't actually bothered too much by Shiala's flirtation. I mean, we've already melded. :P

The Consort is responsible for the biggest WTF moment of the entire game. She gave me a locket. I wondered if that was it, but I guess I should have kept that sentiment to myself because the vocal sentiment to the Consort went someplace horrible. Lady, not what I meant!

Ok, I've played ME2 a billion times.
This is the first time I've seen Liara running to me in the beginning, instead of Kaiden.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUU-!
Am I doomed to Liara pic?
I'm doomed, aren't I? /sigh

Yep, the game thinks you romanced her.

I'm sorry stephi :(
OK Collider (and whoever else knows the answer), please forgive the fact that I'm playing catch-up in the thread and I'm just on page 814 so far, but I MUST ask this question, and please forgive me if it's been answered earlier in the thread (I seem to think that it was, but didn't see it):  What can I do to MAKE SURE Liara doesn't think I romanced her?  After reading of the drive-by that stephi took (I really am sorry, that sucks), and given to consideration that I created this Shepard for one reason only, to remain single NO MATTER WHAT in ME1, I'm afraid to do anything like even speak to Liara.  Can someone tell me EXACTLY what to say to her and in what order or whatever, or can I just completely ignore her at least for a while?  I don't like taking the XP/Codex hit, but I'm willing to put up with it!  The whole goal of this is to be faithful to Garrus for ME2.

Thanks for your kind indulgence all. :D

I read about that one ahead of time. I imagine it must be shocking for the Shepards who want their reward in credits.

It seems like there are a few different ways to make it work. I just made my MainShep choose the Renegade options in that first conversation - the ones that told her not to look up anything about Shepard's past, she was totally out of line, when she's on Shepard's ship, she'll follow Shepard's rules, etc. And whatever you do, don't ask her about herself. >_>; That's how my MainShep almost fell into the trap, but I reloaded and everything was fine.

I hope that works out for you. :)

Looking through another "I don't want to romance LIARA HELP" thread, someone said this:

"Liara explicitly asks you if you're interested. Say "I just want to be friends". If you do, she never mentions it again. It's really clear, unlike like with Ash."

As to how true that is.. haha!

Shiala's flirting was completely wtf to me. Yes, she melded with Shep, but it wasn't sexual at all, and she showed no interest in him/her in ME1. But then she goes green again, and that totally triggers her libido, apparently.

The Consort in ME1 would've been fine...if she hadn't thrown herself at Shepard when she told him/her to speak to Septimus. I mean, she rubbed herself againt Shepard. So much for trying to convince me that she wasn't just a hooker.

Gianna kissing MaleShep wasn't exactly unexpected, but it was totally unwelcome. The permanent "rabbit in headlights" look is just NOT sexy.

For Liara, I thought it was easy to reject her by simply pointing out that she was a bit too female for my heterosexualness. Kaidan was a more difficult rejection for me because you basically have to tell him you don't want to listen to any of his opinions and keep it professional. Same with Ashley. Why can't I talk to someone as friends?

I know Paci; I love love talking to my buddies in games and seeing what they have to say, but it just becomes a pain when you're forced into the romance when you just want to be friends. I literally avoided Liara because I felt uncomfortable talking to her, ha! (Then I made sure to do the "Yes, Like Kaidan, we're just buddies" option, since I just wanted to get some of her story).

This most recent playthrough, I'll probably end up romancing Kaidan, leave the poor guy on Virmire (And save Ash for the first time ;x).

@ Kglaser (and anybody else who wants to keep their Shep single in ME1 AND not miss out on squadmate convos):

Scroll down to my post on this page: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/105/index/1296298/807

The post explains how to keep on friendly terms with all the LIs in ME1 without triggering their romance and without missing out on Codex entries.

This is good to know. I've usually had to resort to being a dick to end further romance with Kaidan or Ashley, but that seems to cut short further conversations with them somehow. Or I'm not remembering correctly. Well, I guess I should just play ME1 again then...

No worries. It's just that I keep seeing people having trouble with the ME1 romances, so I did some research. Cutting the romance short during the first convo for Kaidan/Ash and the second one for Liara ensures that they still talk to you normally afterwards, so you don't end up being as much of a dick as you would if you turn them down later. And if you're really hurting for EXP (eg. if you're trying to hit level 60), you get all the Codex EXP gains as well.

Yeah, the Consort getting that up close and personal with Shepard was just... uncalled for. >_>; Too bad there was no Renegade interrupt. Also, does Parasini still kiss MaleShep if he doesn't help her out in ME1, or does he have to not help her out in ME2 as well? It might be in-character for my current MaleShep to not help her out though. xD

That part about Liara is actually an option? Well, good news for my FemSheps.

Kaidan assumed my FemShep was interested (the signals... there were none), but when she told him she wasn't, it was a very polite way to stop the romance before it started. I don't remember much about Ashley's romance, but I think it went the same way as Kaidan's - she asked if Shepard was interested in her or Liara, and my Shepard said neither.

I think the problem with accidentally starting Liara's romance is that it seems to start up again if Shepard asks Liara about herself... it might be because my FemShep didn't get to a conversation where she could specifically say she wasn't interested, just one that heavily implied she wanted nothing to do with Liara. I think the only conversation where she was somewhat nice to Liara was at the very end when she said she felt sorry for Saren too. The only other conversation might have been asking her about Benezia.
