And just to clarify, I don't for ONE SECOND think ANYTHING about Garrus is weak...I was just speculating as someone who didn't know him at all.

Said person might think he is weak after seeing those scars.

Then their eyes would travel down to the heavily armored tank that Garrus is wearing. Yes. According to Alliance Military classification, Garrus does in fact wear a tank, not actual body armor. After seeing that, they'd notice the high calibur rifle in his hands. It would then dawn on that person that the guy with half his face blown off did not get that scar because he was a poor combatant, it was because someone gave everything they had to give him that scar, and clearly, the turian had come out on top.

That person's head would then explode in shear amazement, and the Universe's karmic balance would be restored.

Point and match.  You, sir, are a genius. :wizard:

Do you guys think Garrus's gnarly scar will make him more or less attractive to the opposite sex? Maybe they might see it as like the krogan value battle scars...or then again, people might think, "he got a scar, he must be weak". (of course that probably won't happen as I'm sure he's rather famous)

"Weak?" Scars mean that this person is a survivor.

Also, it's a great conversation starter.

Garrus: Hey, you wanna know how I got this scar?

Random Turian/Asari/Human Girl: Sure.

Garrus: I took a rocket to the face.

*faints*

I started typing a rather crass follow on that was attempting humor, but thought better of it. :P

I do think that Garrus is probably quite good looking by turian standards (he is one of the more aesthetivally pleasing of an aestheticlly pleasing race. lol. Also, sparring match, also 'stylishly'. I think the guy does pretty good.)

Chicks dig scars? I kinda do. Also, that is one HELL of a scar. Clearly, Garrus knows how to handle himself. And I agree: hottest best chat up line ever!! ^_^

And with that, I'm away to get a decent night's sleep for once. Keep on sniping, Clan V! B)

it was not just a scar, his entire right side of his face was "dismissed". a chunk of flesh gone, god i feel depressed just saying that but thats what it takes to make someone like garrus even more badass then he already was.

Which makes me wonder the question again as to whether he'll ever be able to get rid of that faceplate. Or is it permanent?

For the record, I'd at least like to see the bandage off in ME3, even if the plate has to stay in order to keep his face together.

I'd like to see the cybernetics under the bandages...

he would probably need the same mechanics shepard needed. flesh is missing, so they would have to use surgery, a lot of medigel, and some mechanics to get the skin stitched together again...and with chawkwas and mordin on the job...oh wait, this won't end well.

Not Saren level, I hope. He looked like a husk even before the final fight.

Seeing garrus with scars and a metal plating would look....i don't think there are words to describe that.

Agreed. Though I think a slight hint of metal could really give him a extra cool/hotness to his look.

Hmm... here's a thought: following the Shepars cybernetic rule, what if his look changed in ME3 based on which path you had steered him down. Paragoned Garrus has some bad ass scarring, but is pretty much the same old Gar, but renegaded has cybernetics showing in his face, and (slightly) glowing red eyes? (Not extreme, but a noticable difference. Change his look to reflect his pathway....)

I hope it's extensive.

It's something he and Shepard have in common, brought back from the brink of death to keep fighting...

One of my favorite scenes in the game is when my scarred Renegon FemShep strokes Garrus' scars, and they look at eachother, and you can tell they're both completely broken, then they lean on eachother for support...

No... those aren't tears building in my eyes... I just have an over abundance of eye water...

I think Saren was just too weird looking. Even if I didn't know anything at all about him and I just saw him on the street, I would have thought he was just fugly. Not enough like a typical turian and too husk-y.

I can imagine Garrus as Destro from GI Joe.

Hey guys. What's happening? I tried going back through all the new stuff, but FORTY pages? I just can't do it.

*falls over from exhaustion*

Anything particularly interesting get discussed. I saw a few things but they are so old that I won't bother commenting on them.

Ah, you can go ahead and bring up anything you'd want to discuss Raga, I'm sure no one would mind~. I do love how much there is to read though, sometimes!

Yeah, I bring up older stuff, too...actually I just resurrected the Garrus face bandage topic. But it's ok to talk about what you want because we have a couple new faces in here these days visiting. :)

I think we're talking about if Garrus is attractive by Turian standards or something. Bit speculative. Although his comments to Male Shepard and the whole scout thing seems to indicate that he is probably. I meant suggest that in a military society like the Turians, scars may be seen as attractive because they indicate that the Turian may have been in fight and won.

Oh I bet any turian who saw a scar on any other turian would really respect that. And they would definitely look at the size of Garrus's and say "by the Spirits, where did you get THAT?!?"

I love reading peoples thoughts and opinions about this stuff; I never even stop to consider some of these things.. And a new view on an old situation is always great to see. As for the scars? I don't know really about the scars.. I think someone mentioned Garrus' jokes and jabs at himself as "Laughing to keep from crying", which I thought was a really good way to think about it.

Some people deal with very stressful events by humor, belittling it to make it seem as minor, but.. Such characters, they can be so much fun!

Joker: You want to know where i go these scars? *pulls out knife*

Garrus: No, but do you want to know where i got mine? *jumps back and shoots a rocket to the face*

Oh Garrus, you and your rockets to the face.. I was watching the suicide mission deaths out of morbid curiosity, and just had to laugh at the Garrus/tech death (Another rocket to the face).

Friend: "Man, he sure likes to catch rockets with his face!"

What a horrible way to die....since it seems like he was already dying when you saw him again in me2. In fact anyone dieing in the suicide mission gets me POed, which is why i am saving all 12 characters no matter how much i like them or not.

unless their replacement is better:P

I know! Poor man was on his last reserves I believe, then the first rocket enters the scene..

I just love the "Oh, you'll NEVER COME BACK FROM THE SUICIDE MISSION" bits, then BAM, here comes your entire team back, and the base destroyed because you wouldn't just let it slip into hell. I admit I love much happier endings, especially since it seems that most games have a grimdark bend to it now-a-days. (Why, HI DA:O).

Hmmm, I wonder if they'll make many replacements.. I sort of like the "What you got is what you get. EVER" conjectures, where if you decided to kill off all but two of your ME2 team, you just get those two and the two from ME1.

EDIT: And Man Blaze, I still think the most chilling death is the swarm death :(. Even after the door closes, you hear them screaming, and the final death noises..
Oh, here's a random tidbit that made me feel so bad for laughing- My friend was doing his "Let's kill everyone but two!" playthrough, so of course nothing was upgraded.. So, Thane ends up getting impaled by the ibeam (D:!), and how does he tell me this?

"Well,  at least the I-Beam'll help drain out his lungs"   (Oh god, I laughed but felt so bad).

i love that nod of approval he gives in that one cutscene. It seems that only him and jack seem to do it, but his is better =p.

And then the way he greets you again after destroying the collector base, he just turns around happily and jokes around with you. Then its all about callibrations again.

DAMN IT BIOWARE!

Actually, I think Garrus is concerned about his scars. "No one would give me a mirror. How 'BAD' is it?" If scars made turians look sexier than he should be all like "Yes! Now I am even more awesome!" (If such a thing is possible.) He is concerned that his scars make him look bad. All his comments seem to imply that. I know he is joking but we all know Garrus is prone to using jokes to cover up a very real discomfort or fear of his. I think turian reaction to facial scarring is probably a lot like humans. Turians value military service in general, not skill in combat specifically. Krogan are the ones who value strength in battle. Turians would value that as well but it's not quite the same. In fact, all species value battle prowess. Even humans admire bravery in battle and being able to survive extreme circumstances but we don't automatically think scars are sexy. We are usually turned off by them or think "oh that's unfortunate." Plus, as has already been stated, not all turians serve the state by fighting in the military. They have a variety of jobs so in that case there is no way to know Garrus got his scars as battle wounds. (Well, if he wasn't running around in armor with a gun all the time that is...) If you see a scar like that most people aren't gonna think "Oh man, that awesome guy stopped a rocket with his face. He must be a kickass fighter." They are probably gonna think something more like "Dang. His mother shouldn't have had that pot of boiling water where her kid could grab the handle" or "That's why you should wear hard-hats, folks." I know Garrus is a bit of an exception because he is obviously a soldier, but I still think turians in general don't regard scars well. I think he was a looker (just a gut feeling) and his scars hurt that and I think that bothers him. That's one of the reasons I think femshep specifically trails her hand down his scars during the romance scene. It's like she's saying "I see how hurt you are both emotionally and physically and I don't care. It doesn't matter." And he practically melts when she does that. I think it's very telling.

Also, new guys? Where? Who? Greetings all around.

Also, I could post a long rant on the discussion of character support pages if anyone wanted but that topic was discussed like 30 pages ago so I will just let a sleeping dog lie if that's best.
