Good way to ensure you don't get Ash romanced it to Virmire her, yeah Kaiden might be a bit boring but hell for me I didn't care too much for either of em. Also I absolutely loathe how she calls Shepard Skipper...Yeah I know what the term means, still doesn't change the fact every time she says it I cringe.

I paragon him every time, both in ME1 and in ME2.

And Kim, if Ashley doesn't call Shepard "skipper" at the end of the conversation, you're doing fine. Still, your best bet on not romancing her would be Virmiring her, though.

Also you can just turn her down if you get the scene can't you if you want to go LI less at the end.

I think most people went with the paragon route with Garrus. I didn't, but it seems many people did.

I was going to Virmire Ashley anyway (this Shepard would save whoever stayed with the nuke, which will be Kaidan), so I guess even if she thinks Shepard is starting a romance with her, at least the game won't count it that way. I'm glad my MaleShep is doing alright so far though. :D He's going into dangerous territory here, talking to potential romantic interests as a polite human being.

Also, my Shepard prefers to be called "Commander", not "skipper"...

I tried that once, and still got the picture on Shepard's desk in ME2.

So no, that doesn't work. :(

That's not actually a "turn down" there at the night before Ilos, it's a "wait till after the mission."

If you get someone to appear and help Shep up to his feet after you get grounded, that person is your LI so you're going to have to reload and pretty much try again.

Also glad to know I'm not the only one who hates how Ashley uses the term "skipper"...

I hated being called Skipper too.

Do you guys just dislike the ME1 LIs as romance options or just generally dislike them as people? I must be weird cause I liked the entire crew in both games.

I dislike them as romance options. I don't think their romances are bad (could be improved though), they're just not for me.

I'm sorta with Collider on that, I did like the characters in ME1, but the humans for me were too boring, though Ash is the one I truly did not like at all.

I like Liara's but I think that's just cause I found her adorable.  I'd personally rather be friends with her, Kaidan, and Ash.

I found Liara's way too fast (she's swooning from the get go) to be really fulfilling. After the romance is locked in though, I didn't have any particular problems, but IMO the pacing before wasn't good.

Liara was cool, after I got over how creepy she got in ME2 and went back re-played a file where I romanced her and talked with her, its obvious she still deeply cares about Shepard and still even loves him.

And yes, Liara was adorable, especially when you start romancing her, though I will agree it happened a LITTLE too fast.

Socially inept nerds tend to swoon very easily.

Why shouldn't she swoon?  You're the knight in shining armor who rescued the princess from the dragon.  Of course, she's gonna swoon over you!

That is nothing against Liara, I just don't like her as an LI.  In all the times I played ME1, I stuck with Kaidan.  I preferred her as a friend.

There's that, but it's not like Bioware had to make the romance go so fast even so. Could have started on third conversation instead of the second.

I was really glad when no one helped my MainShep up in that scene. She stayed single for Garrus. My current MaleShep is staying single for Tali, and I'm trying to keep as many saves as possible (for some reason, it seems to be limited to ten) in case something goes wrong, that way my Shepard can pull a "Critical mission failure! Quick, reload!" if he makes any mistakes.

I think being called "Commander" would be more respectful. Honestly, my Shepard would prefer being called "Shepard" to "skipper".

I'll have other playthroughs for the ME1 romance options, but as for my opinions on them... I like Kaidan as a person, my MainShep just wasn't interested in him that way (she thought of him as a friend in ME1). I like Liara as a person too, but getting caught in the romance if you don't want it is annoying. I don't like Ashley, but that's just my opinion - she's a good character, just not the type I like.

Shepard rescued Ashley too. But Ashley isn't swooning from the get go at all.

Liara does make a good friend as well, talking with her if you didn't romance her shows she still deeply respected Shepard.

I just wish people would quit whinging about how her left eye looks weird, it didn't bother me.

Something Garrus fans will like

"I'm always amazed at the way people respond to different characters. One of the most reproduced moments in fan art that I've seen is characters female Shepard with Garrus in the end of their romance. It's not even a love scene. They kind of hug and put their heads together. Obviously for a lot of people that meant a lot to them because there are hundreds and hundreds of paintings out there that people have done of that moment that they're sharing."

I honestly think he was pleasantly surprised at how much fans went crazy when the two ME1 fan-favorites became romancable.
