I have nothing against either of you, you're just not my type, so just stop trying. It makes conversations very, very awkward. Good day to you all. And Ashley, stop calling me skipper!

Right now, poor MaleShep is frozen staring at Liara, and he's thinking, "What do I do? What do I do?!" xD

Just do some more side-missions. One is usually not enough to trigger new convos. And her new convo will be triggered by the usual top-left "I want to talk about you" option. It won't happen automatically.

Shepard will say "let's pick up where we left off; I believe we were talking about you". Liara will say "actually, I was talking about YOU and making a fool of myself; you intrigue me, Shepard". You answer "you're only interested because I was in contact with Prothean tech". Liara will say "at first yes, but it became something more; I didn't know whether I should act on my feelings. I was under the impression there was something between you and Gunnery Chief Williams". You answer "Ashley and I are just friends." She'll say "oh, I'm sorry, I don't know much about human relationships. But what about us? Is there a connection between us or was I wrong about that too?" You answer "I'm not interested in you in that way, Liara" (middle-right option). She'll say "this is very embarrassing for me, Shepard, let's talk about something else."

And voila, you're safe!

i want new things...its taking to long for more dlc or more ME paint adventures to come out. and to long for more fanfics to come out. Good god i think i have become obsessed.

So if it's an "I want to talk about you" conversation, that means it won't get blocked or put off by a main mission conversation, right? It'll be there no matter which mission triggers the next conversation? Well, that's a relief. The conversation I just got after a side mission started with Liara asking Shepard if there was anything he'd like to talk about, and "Nothing important" was in place of the usual "I want to talk about you", so he could only talk about the Investigate options.

Maybe he can just talk about asari culture for now... although, asari mating habits may not be the best topic for him. xD It's better if he does it now, he'll still have the "I'm not interested" conversation later.

I don't actually know whether story mission convos can override other potential convos, but I'm guessing no. So yeah, just keep doing some side-missions, or do Noveria, whichever you prefer. As long as you make sure to get the "not interested" convo before the lockdown scene happens. Because if you don't, the game WILL think you're romancing Liara.

I'll try more side missions first, and if that doesn't work, then I'll send Shepard to Noveria. Hopefully that won't mean a conversation that progresses like "I'm sorry about your mother - oh, by the way, I'm not interested in you", but at least he'll be single.

I've also never had him talk to Tali, even after taking 5 consecutive elevator rides. Is there a cutoff point in the game for elevator banter or something? Because I really feel like I'm missing out on a huge chunk of relationship between Garrus and Tali, and I'm not sure why.

I rode the blasted elevator no less than 10 times while on the Citadel on one of our trips, and EVERY TIME there was a freaking news report and I didn't get to hear anything between them.  I was frustrated and bemused but I will go back and try again after completing some missions and assignments.

eta:  Just read your latest crackfic Xsause.  That might be your funniest yet, I can't decide.

Can't you just reject Liara by saying you just want to be friends after you've joked with her intending to study Shepard? I've always bullet dodged the romance from that one convo all the time. To be frank, I didn't like Liara, because she was creepy, though she was not so creepy in ME2.



The only conversation I've heard is that Tali and Garrus has is about taking down Saren. I don't think there were many conversations anyway, since many of the elevator ones overlap.
