Not sure if the turians and humans are totally the same in their philosophy toward war. .
I can give you guys one big difference right here:
Asymetric warfare. Aka guerilla war, terrorism, freedom fighters, etc.
It's going to drive the turians friggin' crazy.
What do you do when you bring in your fleet and your army and get ready to smash your enemy and you can't find 'em because they've blended back into the general populace and your enemy is only one in a thousand guys?
Look at the updates from Taetrus. The Hierarchy is marching a massive assault force into the province where the terrorist group is--despite the fact that an awful lot of non-terrorist turians live there. The more innocent people who get killed, the more future terrorists you're going to get.
Not like Facinus had terrorism down really well either. If you're going to fly a starship into a city, don't pick your own city....and man, a whole bunch of carbombs might have been a better way to go than one event that pisses off the entire galaxy....but when your species' mindset is "all or nothing" the idea of a whole bunch of scattered attacks just isn't natural when you can GO BIG.
Frankly, I think the arrival of humanity on the scene gave the Hierarchy something to think about for thirty-some years....something else other than the continuing problems in their colonies.
I think turian colonial conflict is going to come back in a big, big way, especially if turian separatists take some tips on guerrilla combat from humans.
I see the turian army as being like old-style medieval warfare where the two sides met on a field of battle and went at it until only one was left standing on the field. What do you do when your enemy won't come out onto the field...instead she slips out, bombs your train station, and then goes home to her family while you're wondering why the train's late?
