I understand your reasoning, but I would rather call it a talon. Yes, the entire structure is more handlike than say the talons of an eagle or something, but I like that it serves to make the alien-turian difference more up-front. Besides, I'm not willing to say there isn't something really un-handlike (is that a word? durr) going on under those gloves with skin/scale textures, nails/claws, some kinds of other small structures we can't see...we just don't know for sure. So for me, I still prefer to say talon.
I know you were referring to other body parts too and just picked the talon as an example (right?), but I wanted to put in my 2 credits here.

eta: Haha, I forgot to say the main thing which was my impetus behind this whole post: I don't think that using our animal body part names for the aliens is demeaning or implying they're not equal or something. We're just anthropomorphizing (is that the correct use of the word here?) based on what is familiar to us. Just my opinion.
