Something equivalent I think. I remember the turian that shot the batarian bartender in Afterlife mentioning having a mate back home. They also seem to have cheating jerks just like humans.Raphael diSanto wrote...

According the the Omega turian (the one that shoots the batarian Bartender if you paragon approach him) he's got a mate. XD So no clue if they "marry."
And we never hear about Garrus's mom.
Or any turian's mom.
Baby Garrus: I love you mommy! *nom nom nom*

In their culture they probably don't "marry" rather then acquire mates. And if your close to one particular mate you can choose to be with him/her for the rest of your life. Thats my take on it. But if shepard and garrus's relationship ever do get up to that point i wonder what the ceremony would look like.

My guess would be that turian women are smaller than turian men with a few traits that make them look different, like a "supportive" waist and a slight change in their fringe. I'll probably think whatever BioWare comes up with (if anything at all) is awesome.

And did the Tali thread vanish? It's not on page 1 or 2 of the Character subforum. Weird... :/
I still support Tali also!

And again, I guess that might depend on where the turian in question grew up. They're a "socially free" society right? Maybe the do marry, maybe they don't. Salarians marry, but more in a contractual type way, to propagate the species. I feel it's kind of a small cop out that they claim it's totally loveless... they still feel, sure, it's fast... but bah, anyway, turians.
If they practice a religion that involves a ceremony for it, then sure, they marry. If the turian in question doesn't... life partner maybe? Soul mate? Spirit mate? Who knows. There's a lot of speculation because while we have some inkling to their culture, there's still big gaping holes.

The Tali thread has just been renamed. It's still there.
Garrus will drink to that.

I know Salarian names are crazy long and include their clan and home city, and the name of their mother's 2nd husband's cousin's dead dog.

And I'd be surprised if turians didn't have some sort of long-term bonding ritual...although I would certainly not be surprised if it differed greatly from what we are used to happening.
We discussed the turians are free to pursue whatever religion they wish (or none at all); I would therefore think that individual turian pairings would differ, based on the religious differences. Thoughts?

Armenian last names end with "yan" or "ian"
Therefore, its a conspiracy, garrus vakarian's father was human/Armenian.

------------
She stood in the rain, the droplets splashing off her coat. He could do nothing but stand there, watching her staring at the ground. All the others passed by, their feet splashing in the puddles. He almost couldn't bear to look at her.
Her mandibles twitched. She started to say something, and he sucked in a breath. But nothing came. No words. Too soon. The wounds too raw. He lifted a hand, his uninjured hand, briefly, helplessly, then let it fall back to his side. Not even sure if he should be here. Nowhere else for him to be. Not now.
They'd spent all morning together. A morning of awkward silences and avoiding eye contact. A morning of cataloging and packing, of secrets and revelations. Of a life stripped bare and open to the naked eye.
She hadn't said much. Hadn't said anything at all, really. Dull, mechanical actions, the movements of an automaton. Going through the motions. Breakfast. Morning routine. He'd looked at the clock over and over again. Watched the time tick away. Wanted the time to come, and yet feared it. Dreaded it. Under the bandage, his left hand had itched and throbbed. He'd fought the urge to tear it off and scratch at the wound.
And then: "It's time."
She'd simply nodded, one hand reaching for her coat.
Outside, it was warm. Almost unbearably hot, the middle of the summer on this little backwater colony world. Storm season, and already the air was thick and oppressive. Inside the car, the air conditioning was cool, refreshing. He'd reached for the starter, his hand hesitating. Closed his eyes for a moment, his jaw tight, tense.
"We're gonna be late." It was the first real thing she'd said all day. He'd looked at her, but she hadn't been looking at him when she said it. Looking out of the window. At the house. Their house. Her house, now.
He punched the starter and the aircar vibrated gently. Didn't say anything in reply. Didn't have anything to say. The soft whine of the engine filled the cabin, but seemed to emphasize the silence instead of replacing it.
He'd been right. The skies had opened up before they'd even got there, and then there'd been nothing but rain. He'd watched her, as they drove. Wondered what she believed. They'd never really talked about it. Never been any reason to. Now.. Now it seemed too little, too late. He couldn't offer words of comfort, even if there'd been any to offer.
Not when it was all his fault.
And now they stood here as the rain came down hard all around them, hammering into the soft earth. She didn't seem to notice it. He reached up, tried to fasten his jacket with one hand, the fingers of his injured hand useless. Still useless. Would be for weeks, the medic had said. The buckle slipped from between his fingers and he let out a breath, explosive, his jaw tightening.
And then her hand was on his arm, small and comforting.
"Here," she said. "Let me do that for you."
He opened his mouth to protest, but she was already reaching for him. Closed his eyes again. Tried to regain his composure. His arms fell to his sides, and he tried to breathe evenly. Felt her fasten the buckles. One.. two.. three.
"I.." he tried again, mandibles tense and flaring. ".. thanks."
She looked at him for the first time, her eyes holding his evenly. Shook her head, briefly. "Of course," she said.
He'd been wrong. She'd been dealing with this better than he had. He wondered when her composure would break. Maybe it already had. Realized that he really didn't know her at all well. She'd been Qarro's mate. Not his. Qarro's.
His brother.----------
Yes. As some of you may suspect, it's a prologue. No, I haven't written anything else yet.

But turians eating hummus might get messy. I can definitely see Garrus devouring a kebab, though. In, like, 2 bites.
