I will be spotty on the thread for the next few days (big event this week, ZOMG) but since it's Memorial Day weekend, I might not be the only one who's spotty. XD
I was just watching a music vid on youtube.. it was a thane one, so not going to link here... but I had a hard time watching it. It was well made... but the Shepard was... well, not all that pleasing to look at. (Ok, she was fugly, ain't gonna sugar coat it.)
Not in a way Ugly Shepard is frightening, but it just... took away from the vid for me. I know, shallow, boo hiss
Might just be me.
Back to mayhem!

From a poster on DA...
“The mission of EA Entertainment is to take key EA properties and find additional ways to bring these properties to people. We can’t think of a better fit than Mass Effect and we couldn’t be more excited to bring Commander Shepard’s adventures to the silver screen.”
Well, there went that hope. Damn it. I don't want to see Shepard in theaters. I don't want to see the 19th Shepard. Or default Sheploo doing this stuff we've already seen time and again... unless this is the Sole Survivor/Earthborn background... GRRRR /is now pissed
If they cast Garrus as anyone other than Keener... I'm not going to bother with the movie.

Greetings from the Tali Thread. Silentstephi, I just wanted to say that I made use of that turian face database the other day. It was an amazing (if slightly insane) resource!
It's getting an overhaul after this weekend. I need to tidy it up a bit. /sage nod

With that out of the way, time for some Garrus-related catching up:
silentstephi wrote...
Which brings me to the question, is his line "Yea... maybe that'll be enough." from that scene?
That line is from the end of his LM when you Paragon it. Shep says "it was for the best", Garrus responds "I'm not so sure". Shep says "give it time", he responds "yeah...maybe that'll be enough." (edited, because I couldn't remember the exact lines the first time around >.>
@ Brass_Buckles: Garrus' romance is definitely a very emotional affair (for lack of a better word). However, I don't believe he's ever consciously considered the possibility of a relationship, emotional or otherwise, before Shepard sprung the proposition on him. He seems genuinely surprised when she does it. But the brevity of the surprise (all of about 5 seconds) shows that he was definitely ready to consider it, probably on a more subconscious level.
I also like to think that the physical aspect of the relationship interests him as well, rather than just the emotional side. I've said it before, but I couldn't fathom a relationship without any physical attraction. Because how would the sex work otherwise? Forcing yourself to sleep with someone you have an exclusively emotional bond with only to please them just sounds sad and painful (cf. Sons and Lovers by DH Lawrence), and it's definitely no relationship I'd like to have or witness. And why would Garrus be so enthusiastic in the very first romance convo (where they're only discussing sex, not feelings) if he was icked by Shepard on a physical level? To me, it's something more along the lines of: there's an emotional bond which has started to make Garrus think "hmm, I wouldn't normally look at human squishy bits that way, but gosh darn, those squishy bits are suddenly starting to look mighty appealing...but why? *cue panic, awkwardness, etc.*" This is why he's so nervous during the 2nd romance convo. He doesn't have a human fetish in the sense that, had there not been an emotional bond as well, he wouldn't have dwelt on the possibility of physical attraction to a human, because it's simpler that way. But since there is, he's starting to think about it as well. It's very telling that he's looking for traits in Shepard that he'd find attractive in a turian: he's trying to apply known criteria to his attraction for her. So yes, the physical attraction is extremely dependent on the preexisting or simultaneous emotional one, but I don't think it's non-existent.
Finally, Re: krogan and family units. The 2 krogan on Tuchanka who are talking about the females bringing the children over; one of them says that he'd like them all to live together, with the females and children. And he shows a lot of love for the child whom he believes to be his son. So while they definitely have a looser perception of the family unit, there are hints that they'd also value more personal relationships, if it were possible.

That line is from the end of his LM when you Paragon it. He says that in relation to Sidonis: maybe knowing that he's paying for his crimes in a different way will be enough.

I think physical attraction can come from an emotional connection. I have certainly been attracted to people who were not what I would call objectivly good looking. In fact, one of my most recent relationships was with someone who I had known for years and while I love him to bits, he's not someone I would ever have considered in a sexual manner unless I had gotten to know him, which I did.
I think that when you have an emotional connection with someone, that makes them more attractive, and you want to express your feelings in a physical way. Also - sex is fun. I don't think objective Garrus would ever have wandered into a bar, seen Shepard for the first time and gone "Dang! Gonna get me some of that!", but the realtionship he has with her makes him feel like yes, this could be pretty good.
I think he focuses on the sex part, because it's easier than the emotional bit for him, even though in this case the two are clearly closely linked.

Good point, yeah. I can roll with that.
More stuff I forgot about:

Looking at Garrus's face though (don't need to ask me twice) I'm not sure turians cry.
I mean... their eyes are a bit set back, depressed into their face "plate". There's soft skin immediately around the eye, but it doesn't seem like there's a convenient way to remove the moisture that comes from crying. Like no natural channel for it. Maybe they keen instead? Maybe something... I'm not sure. But I can't imagine Garrus wiping tears out of his eyes, his "talon" might poke it out er something.
^ This is also how it looks to me.
And Re: tattoos. Maybe it's some kind of permanent/semi-permanent paint, rather than a straightforward tattoo? Kinda like waterproof markers or something. It would still qualify as face paint, but they wouldn't need to reapply it every day. Shep referring to it as face paint if she's aware that it's a tattoo would be odd...Unless she just doesn't know what the hell she's talking about

This is very true. For me at least.
*looks at BF*
*remembers the thought she had when I saw him for the first time almost 5 years ago*
Yep, getting to know someone can change a lot

It wasn't love at first sight for me with Garrus. He looks cool, being a turian and all, but it took some time before I could look at a pic of Garrus and go "ooooh".
Another very good point. 'Tis true for me too. I guess I was just discussing an extreme case (cuz Sons and Lovers was a painful read!)
@ Sialater: Oo, henna. That's a good comparison.

Hey guys i have a question. If garrus runs out of ammo for all his guns, what could he use next? I say he would first throw his guns, and then headbutt people.

1. Rifle butt.
2. Headbutt.
3. Foot on neck.
4. Voice (especially effective against fangirls).
