The thing that bothers me most about Thane is his thighs. THEY'RE SO HUGE AND HIS FEET ARE SO SMALL. D: I mean he's like an upward triangle, plus those flimsy ballet-looking shoes. In the concept he looks great, but the game designers did something really weird to the lower half of his body.

But Thane is lack of something.... I'm not sure what, but ... maybe emotions...

I don't know, maybe being compared to his dead wife, seemed to make me stray from the idea of wooing him.

Hahaha I love these kind of real life stories. You were the one who got pulled over by a cop and responded with "you humans are all racist", right?
My brother romanced Garrus with his mainShep because he thought Garrus was cool and funny. I was there when he did his SM, and he decided to reject Garrus in the romance scene 'for teh lulz', because he knew I am infatuated with Garrus and we have that typical bro/sis relationship to annoy each other as much as possible. So, Garrus comes up with his wine, and my brother turns him down. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Even my BF, who was watching too, felt bad for Garrus. If my mom wasn't in the room, I would curse like an idiot, so I could only growl and mumble nasty things. My brother also decided that, since he turned Garrus down, he had to screw up the SM. Jacob through the vents, Grunt as team leader, Thane as a biotic. Fortunately, Garrus didn't die.
But, he didn't get the 'no one left behind' achievement (duh), so he did it again. REJECTED GARRUS AGAIN and did the SM to get the achievement. He enjoyed watching me suffer during the rejections, and I had to do something to make sure he redid the romance with the happy end. He's very competitive, so the only thing I had to say was "ha, at least I have one achievement more than you". Brother:
And so it came to pass that my brother's mainShep continued her relationship with Garrus because I said so.
Also, because I kept talking about Garrus all the time, my BF asked me "WHY GARRUS?!?!?!?!?!". So I showed him both Thane's and Garrus' romance scenes, and he understood. He cringed at the "be alive with me tonight" and lol'd and d'awwwwed at Garrus' scene. But I didn't question him why he romanced Ashley and Miranda. Apparently he doesn't like aliens that way

Thank you, mental image of Jacob trying to open the door and asking over the signal: "UH SHEPARD WHICH BUTTON DO I PRESS TO OPEN THE DOOR"
Shepard: *facepalm*
Sending Jacob into the vents. Heavy risk.

No offence Thane, but talking about your dead wife isn't going to draw ladies in.
I was totally telling myself 'deal breaker'. I dated a guy that constantly brought up his ex... while I was dating him.

Does Thane even have Biotics?! XD
He sure does. Heavy Warp
But yeah, I totally get what you're saying about his thighs, they look disturbing to me too. And the way his eyes go all weird when he gets his flashbacks. And, yes, the dead wife as well. I can't believe the developers had a convo choice which went:
Thane: I don't think I've ever spoken about my wife to anyone...
FemShep *top right option*: "I want you."
X_X
I'm sure that's not how she says it, but still.
Sending Jacob into the vents. Heavy risk.
...And NO priiiiize!
@ Cerrydd and Nevara: Lol...it's stories like that that make me think I'm lucky to be an only child ^^
@ Nevara: That's DEFINITELY a deal breaker...

I love Garrus' attempt at being suave. "yeeeaaah..." He might as well wiggle his eyebrows if he had some.
Femshep- I can't figure out whether she like exercising her equality with men or whether Bioware were too lazy to make a more ladylike sitting pose.

My first approach to Garrus (first play) and I was stunned by his words. Then I couldn't belive , then I laugh. And I was in love
He was the best character, and always with me since CItadel. I palyed many times ME1 and ME2 but I couldn't left him even for one mission

I like Thane's romance, but it's just not my cup of tea. Garrus is someone I can imagine being fun to hang out with, get some drinks in a a bar. Thane's romance is a bit too depressing for me, but I can see why other ladies might like it.

Why do game characters give me butterflies, I will never understand.
In ME the first thing I noticed was his voice, it's so silky and pretty, but also kind of groggy too. When I went down the the engine room I felt kinda dumb because I kept pressing z to walk up to him instead of running like a lunatic. So self conscious. AND NO ROMANCE DIALOGUE, I was like. Damn. No cute aliens for us girls. :I But I always took him on missions a lot because I wanted to hear what he had to say.
I just kind of stared at Kaiden in a very unsatisfied way and then decided to blow him off the first time he said something sappy to me.

I RP my shep as the gothic princess. Gloom and doom bad background (colonist/sole survivor). A short life filled w/ let downs and death. She's good doesn't want to lose anyone (obviously has had enough of that nonsense), but something about Garrus makes her step back and realize what she does have; a second chance at life. I mean if you look at her during the Archangel recruitment she looks like she's gonna loose it alittle when she thinks he's dead.
Garrus looks at Shep as more than a CO, but a true friend. You are both the stabilizing agents for each other
Heck, makes me think of my fanfic that I'm working on.
EDIT: Sorry had a following thought...

My main problem with the Asari as a race is that they are very Mary Sue. All of the other races have problems that serve to balance them out.janeym27 wrote...

I think the Asari as a race was wasted potential.
Do elaborate, Collider.
The Turians have an impressive and experienced military. They have a wealth of soldiers at their command due to their belief of serving the state. However, they are not particularly good at business and they lack the same type of artistic drive that some other races have. They tend to be more severe in their military actions, sometimes to a fault. They live roughly the same as humans, which point at a disadvantage to Krogan and Asari.
The Salarians have an extensive spy and special forces network that puts any other to shame. They are typically quick thinking and enjoy learning new things. However, they are a short lived species and aside from their intelligence gathering, their military isn't very good. They are also known to be deceitful and always having ulterior motives. They never let another person have the full story.
Volus are excellent at business, however they are defenseless in combat. Unless you're the Biotic God, that is.
Etc.
The Asari? As it is, most peaceful, most wise, most advanced, most long lived,
most desired, most sexual, most powerful, most people, most territory,
most artistic, best biotics, best soldiers, best economy, best & most everything is boring.
It sounds like something out of bad fanfiction, like space elves. I also find the sexual aspects of Asari culture to be suspect. They can have make sex with anyone and typically have a more "free" view of sexuality. Makes me think that someone in Bioware went "you know...we need alien space babes."
Thankfully, there are plenty of Asari characters who are interesting and more balanced. However, from a lore stand point, I felt like they could have done a lot better with the Asari as a race. They need faults. Faults are part of what can make a race interesting. As it is, their greatest fault is like there's a very very small chance that Asari-Asari parents can make Ardat-Yakshi. That's basically it.
Agreed. Turian culture seems interesting, what with their emphasis on serving the state. I want to see how their culture and society is. That's part of the reason I want to go to Palaven.Turians are my favourite SciFi race, and I feel that we know very little about them still.

Very well stated. I'm not anti-Asari (anti-Liara, for sure, but not anti-Asari), but I definitely think there could be some improvements with them as a race. I loved seeing more matriarchs in ME2. I also loved seeing a greater variety of Asari who were not using their sexuality (Consort and her acolytes, etc.) nor mentioning how barely legal and virginal they are *gag*.
Okay, I'm going to stop now.
