Yeah, I missed them too in ME1. Although Garrus didn't chime in a lot during the debriefings, but he did say the occasion comment here and there. At least he was there. D:
Even if they didn't always talk at least you got the feeling that they were a team. In ME2 the lack of interaction between them makes it feel like they don't even know about each other sometimes...

It's no wonder Garrus chimes at pre-suicide mission in place of Jack (if she died by the shields and doesn't say 'hold it, cheerleader') of how they don't trust Cerberus since they don't even get to know them much.
What does he say?

And where was Garrus getting onto the shuttle when IFF's installed? It's like he and everyone else minus Mordin, Miranda and Jacob jump into the plot hole of protection, since you don't see them getting in. Yet they didn't stay on the Normandy, or the Collectors ignored them when they took the crew.

I'm pretty sure. I don't what meeting it was exactly, but IIRC I saw Mordin in the meeting and he didn't say anything.Alexine wrote...
Mordin was there randomly? The only time I noticed Mordin in the debriefings was after getting the IFF from the derelict reaper.
They were going for space pizza and Garrus was the first one to get in.And where was Garrus getting onto the shuttle when IFF's installed? Who knows...for some reason you don't get to see the whole squad on the Normandy for ME2's ending, IIRC.
But yea, the Normandy kidnapping wasn't properly explained to the player.

Nah, he's probably busy with his calibrations that he didn't even notice the kidnapping of the crew and Joker hopping around. And the Collectors don't like calibrations, so they stayed away.
Not to mention, Garrus has a special power to keep him on the Normandy when the airlock is blown.

No, they were going for Mountain Dew space cupcakes
But yeah, the ending was a bit off. Don't get me wrong, I was very happy to see Garrus and Grunt in the ending, but I think it would be more epic if everyone gave you that 'lead on' look. I don't even know why they chose Jack, Garrus and Grunt, it seems completely random.

He is in armor all the time!
He just got his helmet on and continued calibrating.

He has armor immunity!
No wait, he can't take a rocket to the face a second time and his armour can't take large amounts of seeker swarms... doh.

They should have at least given us a kiss (or a headbump if the LI wears a helmet or doesn't have human lips) in the last scene. If say that I'm a hopeless romantic it would be true.Cerrydd wrote...

Everyone gets on the shuttle for every mission. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. That's why, on missions like Tuchanka, you can go back to the shuttle and switch your crew around without going back to the Normandy to do it.
There's a large element of suspension of disbelief already involved in a situation where you have access to a baker's dozen of highly-trained specialists and yet you only ever bring 2 with you. Situationally, sure - Kasumi's loyalty mission wouldn't work if the entire crew of the Normandy descended upon Donovan Hock's estate, but in general? Hell no. If I'm fighting my way through entrenched geth on a planet that roasts me if I step out into into the sun to rescue an old crew member like Tali'Zorah... I'm bringin' the whole damn crew to kick some synthetic butt.
But it's a limitation imposed by the game engine in order to keep the game manageable, and I can understand and accept that. But from an immersion point of view it's no different than them not showing us every single person getting on the shuttle before the Collector ship shows up.
Getting on the shuttle itself... Well, now that's lazy writing and it stretches even my extremely elastic willing suspension of disbelief. I'm pretty prepared to accept a lot of what other people tend to regard as plot holes if they make the story cooler, and I'll go with this one because the Joker sequence is awesome and that couldn't happen if Shep and crew were still on board.
But I'm surprised no one at BioWare said "Hey.. What if the player doesn't actually -have- any more missions to do?" Or rather.. I'm sure someone said that. What surprises me is that the answer was obviously "It doesn't matter. They'll just have to pretend that there's some mission somewhere."
Of course, the flip side to all of this is other than going on a mission, how do you get Shep and crew off the Normandy so that the collectors can come kidnap everyone. I like the concept of everyone being kidnapped. Like I said, I love the Joker sequence. I like the feeling of extra pressure it puts on you to rescue them. But how do you make that happen -without- manufacturing some bullspit reason to get Shep and his squad of bad****ery off the ship?

This is exactly what happened to me. I knew in ME1 that you had to do all the assignments before Virmire, and I didn't know there was a 'continue' option in ME2. By the time EDI announced that I should take my entire team on a shuttle to the next mission, I was confused because I didn't have anything to do.
So, massive cupcake mission for me
Finished another Garrusthing:

I should really stop doing this and start working on things for school. Garrus is such a distraction.

The codex states that it can carry 14 people, which means that the little tiny cabin we see on Jack's loyalty mission cannot be the entire shuttle (although it looks like it, from the relative size of it, when we see people getting in and out of it.)
I guess the shuttle's like the TARDIS. It's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside - And if Shep ever decides to change his line of work, he can go into slapstick comedy and run the 100-clowns-getting-out-of-a-tiny-car gag.

Well, it's one of the inconsistencies that people talk about, isn't it? Like .. Who is piloting the shuttle for Jack's mission, and are they different than who pilots it for the 'mystery' mission?
There is a VI in the shuttle that can pilot it. On a few missions it even tells the player things.

Banging on the door at the end of Jack's loyalty mission does not seem to be a logical way to communicate with a VI, hehe

Hmm, I think there is an actual driver in the shuttle, because there I recall one or two seats extra for the driver as well, but I'm not sure about that. It's been a while since I sat down and read the codex.

It seems like there is a driver but Shepard is not allowed to enter the cockpit. Probably for the best considering Shepards driving skills in ME1. But as long as Garrus is calibrating the shuttle nothing can go wrong of course.
But I thought everyone liked rollercoasters!
