I'm still at Noveria on my MaleShep playthrough, and for the first time I found the cure instead of accidentally running into Benezia first. I found a turian (the one in that room with the volus) who has some awesome quotes. First he says something to the volus like, "If you're going to be crazy, at least be the quiet kind." Then a human tells him a joke about hydrogen and electrons (unfortunately, even if I reload my last save, my Shepard can only hear this conversation once), and when he's finished the turian says, "Now will you shut up? God." So... I've either found the first in-game turian with a human religion, or he's just heard that expression so many times that he started saying it too. He also used to have nightmares about rachni-like creatures from watching too many cheap horror vids before lights-out. xD

Lol, I remember that. One of the lamest jokes I've ever heard. And that turian's tat looks like he smeared mud all over his face, or faceplanted into a bowl of liquid chocolate or something. On the other hand, that volus always makes me so sad...The poor thing's really got some major guilt issues. Getting that email from him in ME2 always makes me Image IPB It's almost as bad as the "I Remember Me" sidequest.

@ Lemonwizard: You make an excellent point about the translation. Hadn't thought of that.

I've noticed that too. It looks very strange to see Shepard run like that. I haven't made Shepard spin around yet, but now I will when he gets back to the Normandy.

Yep, I've noticed the neck issue too. It's really jarring sometimes. Add that to FemShep's ultra masculine ME2 movements, and you have me in disappoint mode (btw, where does the "I am dissapoint" reference come from?). I wish they could bring back FemShep's more natural ME1 run for ME3...

It would be interesting to know which alien expressions are translated. "Siha" doesn't have a human translation close enough to work. I would think that the turians have a similar expression for the spirits of their religion, like the way humans say "Oh my God" and asari say "By the Goddess." And poor Lorik... not even the translator recognizes his attempt at human expressions (but neither do I, most of the time).

Most of the random NPC turians, like the guards, all seem to have those tattoos - brown on the lower half of their faces. Maybe that's the Noveria colonial tattoo? It's hard to believe that any turians might have been born and raised there though, since they don't like the cold.

I didn't know about the volus' e-mail, but this is probably the first time I've seen him. MaleShep is a Sole Survivor, so he was extra nice to the poor guy.

On the subject of slight glitches - my latest (and main) PT had me very confused during Garrus' loyalty mission.
Anyone see what is wrong here??

I love this scene, so when I saw the key ingredient was missing I was :?<_<

Or maybe he is invisible because he is just that awesome :police:

He reappeared very next scene...which is just as well. ME without Garrus? Do not want :crying:

He may actually be speaking 'English' (or whatever the Alliance uses as a standardized language for flight control - probably English given what you can do with the grammar and still make a comprehensible sentence) and trying his hand at human expressions. The translator Codex entry mentions that actually speaking 'alien' languages is often a point of pride. He is, after all, an office manager on a human (if not Alliance) founded colony.

Ok, my post just disappeared into Sparta limbo as well, so lemme try this again...

Siha isn't translated because it's the actual name of a warrior-angel. It's kind of like someone saying "by Thor!" or "by Mithra!"; you wouldn't translate any of those either. As for Lorik, the only expression of his I actually remember is "fly in the...lotion?"

Nah, Noveria isn't even in turian space, I seriously doubt it's a colony. Especially because of the climate: I don't think any turians would willingly settle there.

I didn't know about the volus' e-mail, but this is probably the first time I've seen him. MaleShep is a Sole Survivor, so he was extra nice to the poor guy.

He basically says something along the lines of "Not much has changed. I'm still alive, she still isn't. They tell me you survived after all, but maybe that's just a trick to make me feel better. Maybe this is actually some kind of afterlife, maybe I didn't close the door that day, maybe she lived, maybe I'm dead. But if I'm not, and you get this email...thank you."

Cue me going  Image IPB in front of my TV.

On a sidenote, they should totally make volus plushies. I'd buy one!

My post disappeared too... I have no idea where it went. (Maybe the same place Garrus went when he disappeared from Rebe70's screenshot. xD) Anyway, does someone have a link to that Codex entry about the translators? I tried searching the ME Wiki, but I'm having trouble finding it.

Lorik gets an e-mail in ME2 if Shepard gave him the evidence. I've only read it on this thread after it was posted a few times, but it was filled with human expressions. I hardly understood any of it, but it was adorable, and Lorik is awesome for being the first turian to ask my MainShep to sit down and have a drink with him. :)

That poor volus. D: That would be one of the e-mails most likely to get an emotional response out of my MaleShep. Same with the e-mail from Toombs. He doesn't get one from Talitha because he's Earthborn, but MainShep did.

Harkin getting beaten up by invisible Garrus is hilarious. xD

Nice desktop image. It took me a while to realize why I didn't remember seeing the red color on those parts of his armor. It's the DLC armor, right? I only get to see it every now and then from screenshots.

btw, where does the "I am dissapoint" reference come from?

There was a thread on 4chan about things posters did that that their fathers were disappointed about.

The thread had a humorous flaw in spelling - the title was written as

"ITT things that made your dad disappoint at you when you were a kid."

Then anonymous went :D at the exploitable nature of the misfire and opened up MS paint to capitalize on it:

On topic, do you think Garrus' father could ever not be disappointed of him? The way Garrus spoke of him seems like nothing Garrus had done in ME1 or ME2 would make his father proud, but I'm not sure.

Ahh, 4chan...the place where the internet goes to die. Or so I hear. Never set foot there myself. Keep hearing horror stories about it though. Will now stop speaking like Mordin.

Hmm, I can't seem to find it either!

I always persuade Lorik to testify againt Anoleis, so I never got his email.

Yeah, the email from Toombs was pretty brutal...You're sitting there going "man, I totally understand what he's thinking, but damn..."

BioWare forum, stop sending my posts off somewhere else, never to be seen again! Now I have to try to remember everything I just typed...

@ Rebe70: Awesome. :D I haven't seen his DLC helmet before.

@ Collider: Maybe Garrus' father would have been proud of him if he had been a by-the-book C-Sec officer too. Or maybe he's already proud of Garrus, but isn't the type to say it. It's hard to tell without seeing his father in the game.

Thanks for the link. :) No wonder I didn't see it... it's a Codex entry from the DLC.

@ Nilfalasiel: My MainShep was supposed to give Lorik the evidence, but I guess I got confused and messed that up somehow. MaleShep will get the e-mail though. He gave Lorik the evidence and then basically told Parasini that she annoyed him. xD

It's a good thing there are some happy e-mails too. MaleShep will go crazy enough as it is in ME2. (He's the one who gets Miranda and the Cerberus crew killed off on purpose.)

I found another glitch. Apparently, skipping the cutscene where Shepard and Garrus enter the cab on his loyalty mission causes Garrus to randomly disappear, resulting in Shepard talking to an empty seat. If you get this glitch to happen, Garrus won't even show up to kill/not kill Sidonis...so practically, if you kill him, Sidonis gets shot by no one. I saved him this time, though.

I was talking to Bailey with Tali in the party, and he was talking about how policing Zakera Ward was like policing New York City.

Bailey: Sometimes you need to work outside of the Council's rule book.
Tali (turning her head to Shepard): He sounds like a certain turian we know. :)

I went :D

Of course you cannot see him, because he doesn't want to be seen! Garrus is just that good.
