Good arguments, I am convinced. As a salarian ex STG on board a Cerberus vessel it's probably best to play it safe. Poor Shepard is the commander of a ship full of voyeurs.Christmas Ape wrote...
There's also the "salarians only sleep 2 hours every 24" thing - he can catch shift change gossip, mess hall chatter, third watch banter between the four crewmen on duty, any conversation really. Probably subverted some of the bugs as well - he is former STG, I'm sure he's watching his back.
It's his complete and utter lack of shame regarding the subject - appropriate for a salarian scientist (or is that scientist salarian?) - that gets me about them. It's a conversation I imagine them having not quite far enough from other crewmen for Garrus' liking, somewhere about halfway up the walkway to the Main Battery. Mordin rattling on, Gardner trying not to make it obvious he's listening, Garrus fidgeting uncomfortably with the ration pack that was the sole reason
he came out at all, Kasumi cloaked and stealing oranges from the mess "just to keep busy"...
I forgot Liara was the one who told Shepard about Ilos. Well, at least there's a good reason for recruiting her after Virmire then. (On my current playthrough, I used this order - Feros, Therum, Noveria, and Virmire is next.)Pacifien wrote...
Well, technically, you won't know Saren is going to Ilos until you pick up Liara so she can tell you.
I always thought it made sense to do Noveria last. I'm not sure where Saren got his information that the Conduit was on Ilos, but I had always assumed it was information he gained soon after using the beacon on Eden Prime. Plus he got the cipher before you. The only other piece of the puzzle he needs is the location of the Mu Relay, so once Benezia gives it to him, what is he doing? His next stop should have been Ilos.

I suspect we would need to be raining lots of Garrus's in order to please everyone on this thread! There just isn't enough of that darn Turian to go round!

The original is cool too (and definitely looks like it would fit well with "It's Raining Men" xD).Buggirl70 wrote...

I was just playing Mass Effect, and... just a word of advice foranyone who's trying to avoid Liara's romance - don't choose the "Let's talk" option. Ever. >_>; After you get the "I'm not interested" conversation, just quit while you're ahead. My MaleShep just went to talk to her after her mother's death, and it was a really bad idea to talk with her more, apparently. I just knew I'd have to reload when he said, "I enjoy talking with you, Liara, no matter the subject." She starts talking about all of the asari rumors again (which I already heard from the Investigate option for asari culture), and then she and Shepard start talking like they're a couple, are they ready or should they wait, and there was no "we're not in a romance" option. This is how the "rumors" get started, Liara. He just wanted to see if you were alright after your mother's death! I guess you're alright then...

They always were - she's there on Saren's behalf in his capacity as major shareholder of Binary Helix. When you arrive and start with the secure lab/barracks area, the guards are on orders to keep the rachni at bay while Benezia extracts the location of the Mu Relay. 's why Ventralis tells you she's still in the Hot Labs and all access to the secure lab is locked down - so you'll leave them alone long enough for her to finish, and maybe hopefully die. If you purge the Hot Labs while she's still in there, those orders become "keep the Spectre out until I'm finished".Nilfalasiel wrote...
Now *that's* unexpected. So the guards were working for Benezia then? That kinda doesn't seem to make sense, when you compare it to how the mission normally plays out...Since they're actually trying to protect themselves from the Rachni. And the asari who attacks you actually killed that guard at the door. She wouldn't have needed to do that if he'd been on her side. Weird.

I didn't know about that option to intimidate Anoleis and mention prison showers to Lorik. xD Poor Lorik! What was his reaction to that?

I think, since Saren's secret base is on Virmire, he likely used the Virmire beacon first and then the Eden Prime beacon second to fill in the blanks. Who knows how long he's been waiting for a second beacon to be found so he could fill in the gaps of his first visions. Long enough to develop a clone army of krogans, apparently.Nilfalasiel wrote...
@ Pacifien: I always go Therum - Feros - Noveria. Makes the most sense to me to try to ask Benezia's daughter about her mother's motives first, get a Prothean expert on board to help with the vision, then get down to business. As for where Saren gets the info about Ilos: same place where Shep gets it, actually. He goes to Feros to retrieve the Cipher from the Thorian, then he has Benezia find the Mu relay. Then he uses the beacon on Virmire to fill in the blanks of his Eden Prime vision. Just like Shep does. Otherwise, he wouldn't have a clue about which system to go to, since the Mu relay connects to multiple systems. The only thing is that Shep knows nothing about Ilos, and therefore needs Liara to tell her/him. Saren probably already recognized it from his vision and thus was able to get a headstart.

Oh wait, now I remember. He says that when you talk to the salarians.
In which case... nevermind. Other than he probably was disappointed the
final confrontation with Nassana did not contain any headshots.

This might be a bit off topic but, I'm doing a renegade run as I said and I chose Earthborn/ sole survivor. I plan to do all the renegade things in me1 and me2 but this presents a problem. Why would a sole survivor HELP cerberus? I was half way through ME1 and went "...oh yeah..doesn't make sense there" can anyone think of a good reason why a sole survivor would help TIM? I really don't want to start over LOL

Yeah Renegade Shep is pragmatic enough to recognize the need to work together.Hyrule_Gal wrote...
