Partially, perhaps.

I dislike Ashley. In ME1 she was whiny and borderline racist.
I don't like how they developed Liara's character into ME2. She's cold and obsessive.
I was kinda pissed; I liked Samara .. interesting character, and definately MILF material as an LI.

Miranda and Jack; disliked them at the outset, Miranda for being stuck up, Jack for being crayyzee .. but warmed to them both somewhat post Loyalty mission when they became a bit more human. Kelly was never a deep enough character for me to really engage with.

Because the post of yours that I quoted was entirely about how the Bioware boards had exploded with support for the various characters, and you had bolded the section that said,

.. indicating that you were offering up that statement as a reason for the Ash/Kaiden/Liara cameos.  That's why I mentioned forum threads.

Your point about the ME1 LI cameos being poor is completely aside from that.  In fact I agree with you that the cameos could have been better written.  However, I also see why they went the way they did.  In any case, that is a separate point altogether.  I was merely refuting the idea that forum popularity is the primary way that Bioware determines what characters are going to show up.

Tali has the best soundtrack of any of the characters (although Samara's is pretty good too) and since I consider music to be extremely expressive about characters' emotional presence, I just have to love Tali. The ME 1 love song was just so soap opera and shallow, just like the LI's were in that game. "Oh Ash wears a pink suit and likes guns and has a nice butt, must have her! Oh Liara is hot and blue and is obsessed with me, I must have her! Oh Kaiden is... Well screw Kaiden actually all he ever wants to talk about are his biotic magic camp days and his headaches..."

Also, I literally felt like gagging in ME 1 when Ash got the email message where her sister is like "oh its commander shepard he's cuttteeeee" it gave the relationship such a trivial suburban america taste.  I don't get how anyone can pursue the Ash romance.  In fact, I don't understand how anyone can save her on Virmire.  My Role playing is always "love ash, but leave her behind because she secretly desires it to redeem her family"
